This is our favorite Chinese restaurant to eat at when we are in the Cities. Having lived here long ago, we miss this place and return as often as we can. The staff is very friendly and remembers us every time we come in. The cook even

We went to this restaurant because it was close to the office and one of the people with us enjoyed Chinese food. Upon entering, it is easy to see that the place is not very sanitary. How they pass health inspections is beyond me.

I ordered shrimp fried rice. Nasty, unflavorful dish. It was black with soy sauce, which is NOT how you make fried rice, then all the shrimp had not been cleaned (de-veined). Absolutely NASTY. If you like eating feces, then I guess it may be okay. I am not into that, and have eaten at hundreds of restaurants. I have never, ever seen a resstaurant that would give customers such a disgusting dish. If it wasn't for the fact that we had to get back to the office, I think I would have argued about paying for such a nasty meal and then called a health inspector.

If you are a health inspector for MN, then you need to go to this place and shut them down.

I WILL NEVER GO BACK.

I have been coming to Don Ho 3-5 times a month for about 5 years. They have the best Chinese in Bloomington, hands down. I have never been impressed with their service.

The dining room is small, and rather unsanitary. I have seen them go from taking order, to cleaning tables, then grabbing your food without washing hands. A coworker and I used to frequent them for lunch, until we saw them refill a used water glass from one table and set it with their "ready to go" glasses for incoming customers.... Ewww...

The owners (I assume, since they are always there) don't speak English very well, though the women does much better than the man. They are not very warm or welcoming. They will not make any substitution in their menu,. and about 50% of the time, something is wrong with the order. That being said, they are always quick to fix it, but never offer any apologies, and are very rude, which seems especially odd for a place that blazes KTIS, a local Christain radio station.

I put up with all of this simply because the food was worth it.

Yesterday, I had an experience that has driven me away permanently. I called in and ordered the same thing I do every time. 2 orders orange chicken, 1 extra spicy (for me) 1 regular (for the wife and 2 y/o daughter). The man on the other end said OK, 15 mins. 25 mins later, my wife comes back home with the food... I start enjoing mine, when my daughter starts screaming. Even though my box was marked spicy, and the other not, there was no question they were the same spicy batch. We quickly grabbed my daughter some milk, and a bit of chocolate to smooth things over, and all was well.

I called in, and spoke to the same man who took my order. He began immediately talking over me, acknowledging he made them extra spicy, and arguing with me about what I ordered. Eventually he told me to come back in.

So I make the 10 min drive over, waited at the front desk... THe man comes out and asked where the chicken was. I was confused... He said that I needed to "exchange it". I apologized, and said since he didn't tell me to being the used chicken back, I didn??t bring it. It was very hard to understand what he was saying, but it became clear he wanted me to go back home, and bring the chicken back. I stated I was not going to do that. While I was in mid sentence, he walked away from the desk. The wife then came out, and called me a liar. What?? She said she heard him tell me to exchange it. I said, I never heard him say that. I went on to say, "I'm in here all the time", which she confirmed, "and I've got better things to do than drive 20 mins try to rip you off for an order of orange chicken." She asked me where I lived.... Frustrated at this point, I said "It doesn't matter where I live. I'm not going back home and coming back to fix you're mistake" "Are you going to make this right, or not?" She threw the chicken on the counter and stormed away.

Final straw... Goodbye Don Hos... I hope you learn that good food can only get you so far in a service industry.
