This is my absolute favorite restaurant. I'm there about once a week. I've been to India, where I fell in love with Indian food, and many Indian restaurants here in town. There is no comparison. Everyone I have brought here loves

I too do not understand the negative comments. I have eaten here for years. All the staff has been very freindly, efficient and sweet.\r
I and often my dining companions have many food allergies. I have never gotten ill as long as I chose

We (~25) reached this place to have a nice time together and have a good dinner, but ended up experiencing THE WORST food.
All the non-vegetarian food was un-touched and all that we ate was little bit of starters. Seems cook only knows to add red chilli powder to spice up the dish and he seems to be un-aware of adding other spices to make the dish better.
I ended up learning that I could have prepared better food than what we paid.

Pros: None

Cons: everything

Its been the worst experience in any Indian restaurant in the US. The food quality was consistently poor be it lassi, starter or main course.

We were there in a group and none of us found the food worth finishing. Most of the food stayed untouched. Service was also equally poor and staff was quite rude when we shared the feedback with them.

You might get to the place happy but guaranteed to come out hungry and dissatisfied.

Cons: food quality, service, hygine

We had a team dinner for a group of 30 members.
ordered
Lassi's -- there were sour
Appetizers -- Horrible
Main course -- Pathetic
By mistake if you land up there please do not think twice to get out of that place. You will be saved.
When we started giving feedback the Staff and the Manager mentioned that they are not the Chef.
Our Bill came out to be $800 and not even one person in the group was satisfied. Even though the bill was $800 they not even bothered to give a discount for the bad service they rendered. Dal makhani was very bad and when complained they mentioned that it could have been spoilt and we can replace it if you want.
Lastly the bill of $800 was hand written.

The Worst ever Indian Restaurant I have had in the US.

Pros: thinking..thinking..still thinking..cant even think of one

Cons: Service, Food, hygiene,

The owners of this place should go back to school to learn some manners, extremely rude staff and owners alike. Uncouth, ill mannered human beings with total disregard for children and infants. Food is below average with extremely bad hygiene, check out their kitchen if you ever get a chance. DONT GO THERE.

Pros: Popular due to lack of quality restaurants in MN

Cons: Terrible management rude to small kids

the owner and management of this place are extreely rude to its Patrons- Indians in particular.Their catering is totaly avaoidable as they jam people in one corner without the AC on and have a shared buffet.
Also non kid friendly and very rude staff.

I went here with 7 friends and we all think it's one of the best Indian restaurants we've ever been to--and these are some experienced Indian-food connoisseurs! It's really fantastic. The 2nd time we went we brought another friend who insisted he didn't like Indian food, and he was converted.

I love indian food and this restaurant serves delicious Indian food at a competetive price. It has all the classic indian dishes and being a vegetarian there is of course lots to choose from, but my husband who likes meat found good meals too.

This place has terrific food and a nice ambience. The food, which I order on the mild side, is always done right. I especially like the vegetable biryani and the alu tikki. I would highly recommend this place. My parents absolutely love the chicken tandoor; it always comes hot and fresh. Give it a try. I realize others say that they they have found better Indian restaurants in this area, but I have never heard them mention one!

I love indian food!! but here it was not good, just very salty, and the service was really slow... we waited 50 minutes for our food to come and sat with empty glasses trying to catch their attention to no avail.... i asked for very hot and they did get that right, and the lassi was good but thats it... i could have made better food at home, the sauce was runny and oily, and was way too salty(and i like salty stuff)overall, i will not be going back, and now i really miss passage to india...... they were sooooo yummy...:(

Cons: service,noise level, food

My wife and I stopped in on a Friday night and were impressed with the very quick service. The host seated us immediately (wasn't terribly busy), and the server was very pleasant and attentive. Dinner was very good; I asked for medium spice level and was happy to not get "Minnesota medium." The beer & wine list was a bit disappointing, but not bad. We will definitely visit again.

First off the service was subpar. The real problem was when I left my $400 pair of sunglasses on the table. When I left and returned to get them they were gone. I asked the waiters if someone picked them and they all played dumb. The dead giveaway was catching one of hosts pointing and laughing and then running into the kitchen when I caught him doing it. I do not recommend or recommend watching your belonings carefully if you do.

Ok, I did the lunch buffet a couple of weeks ago with friends and it was mediocre, and I decided to go back for a "real" meal hoping it would be better. Wrong! All I ordered was the curry chicken and ended up waiting for 20 minutes for bone dry chicken covered in the oiliest curry sauce I had ever tasted. I don't see how they keep getting the accolades they seem to get.

I attempted to eat here once more after reading a few more "positive" reviews and was equally disappointed. Sadly those having visited NY once in there life and not being Indian consider "Indian" row true Indian food. Here is a brief lesson in Indian cuisine - "Indian" row is not Indian but Bengali and by no means the true "Indian" food experience in NY. For those who can look past the tourist traps and have an open mind the true Indian restaurants are easy to find and there a plenty of wonderful places if you are looking for true South Indian or North Indian cuisine. Taste of India continues to be a sad experience for those who are Indian, have been to India and UK and tasted some of the best Indian in the world. If you are looking for something more than greasy overcooked curries and overfried appetizers I would stay away from this place.

I had been to this restaurant several times with other Indian friends for the buffet, and was at first disappointed at what passes for real Indian food in the Twin Cities. HOWEVER, when I've visited in the evenings and ordered from the menu, I've very rarely been disappointed. One tip, however, is to stick to meat dishes unless you are ordering the saag or shahi paneer. The appetizers are great (I love the paneer pakoda).

Service is attentive, and they are willing to tweak dishes to your specifications (something I miss after leaving my hometown, where the Indian restaurant owners were all friends!). The naan is very good - crispy and soft at the same time. I would go with Onion Kulcha, or Garlic Naan. The tandoori dishes are definitely on par, except for the kababs, which are above average to say the least. Be sure to try the kulfi for dessert.

I'm not sure what the reader above is comparing it to, I've had Indian in NYC and it's not that great. There were no Indian people in the restaurants on Indian Row...just a bunch of white people. Really. But you will find a lot of Indian People at Taste of India. The place is packed every weekend brunch, many aren't from taround these parts. I've seen Indian families book half the restaurant because it's so good. They are much better than Bombay Bistro, Taj of India, Udupi, the place in Central in Northeast and those two miserable places in uptown. Why? Because they are so busy- which means the food turns around fast and doesn't spoil. The servers are actually pleasant. The place is family friendly. They have a great following. Just go.

Cons: Lots of kids and babies

I do not know who these people are kidding by calling this Indian because I think they got their receipes from Betty Crocker. Having moved from NY I was craving some really good Indian food. I stepped into this place and received decent service but then I made the mistake of ordering. The appetizers were overfried, bland and hard. I ordered paneer and it was drowing in spaghetti sauce in which they threw in some chili powder to give it that "Indian" flavoring. I think the only thing I could swallow was the naan. If you have ever had real Indian food do not come here, this is truly an insult especially being Indian myself.

When you've got a craving for Indian food in the Twin Cities, this is the best place I've found! Waiters are very attentive. Water glasses are never empty and food tends to arrive quickly.

I recommend going in for dinner. They give you a choice of the spice of your food which is excellent for taking someone new to Indian food. The restaurant itself is tucked just off 394 and may not be easy to find - but certainly worth the find with spacious dining space and lots of windows.

The lunch buffet is usually pretty good, but if you're a picky eater like myself, you may want to be able to have more choice.

The lunch buffet was very average for what they charge. $9 for a buffet where there was plenty of choice, but lack of flavor. Go somewhere else.

Went there for dinner with a friend. service was fast and polite, quite a popular place, certainly the bustle added to the atmosphere. We ordered the garlic naan bread and the beef samosa to begin. The naan arrived hot and moist, but could have been more tastier. The samosa was a little too dry I think, but the sauses for dipping were excellent. For dinner, we had the tandoori chicken and the beef curry. the tandoori arrived on a sizzling plate above a bed of onions. Beautiful, but again, not as tasty as I would have liked it. The curry was 'moderate', which was too mild for me. Otherwise, tasty enough. To top it off, indian tea, which was tea with a hint of cinnamon. Quite delightful. Overall, dinner for 2 came to $26. Overall, a nice place to eat, but not among the top.

Great Indian food and beers. They whip up some tasty curries that will have you begging for something yogurt based. I tried only "American hot" dishes and they were spicy. Can't imgaine what the "Indian hot" ones are like. The breads are excellent with their sweet but spicy dipping sauces. Along with cheap appetizers that are excellent.. Diffinitely a place to check out.
