I've had the chance to stay at Northfield Hospital several times; I spent time on bedrest there during my first pregnancy and my second child was born there. During that second pregnancy I also broke my arm and had to have surgery, so I got an extra stay there (not that I enjoyed that...). I've experienced the Emergency Room, the maternity floor, and the surgical areas of the hospital. I also took my husband the the Emercency Room once for a severe allergic reaction.

For the most part, I like Northfield Hospital. Because it is a small, local hospital, I was able to get a lot of personal attention. It was rare for me to be unable to get my needs met immediately. On the other hand, because it is so small some of the amenities of larger hospitals are absent. While there is an anesthesiologist on call at all times, that person is not in the hospital at all times. When my daughter was born, she came very fast; the anesthesiologist didn't make it to the hospital in time for me to get an epidural.

Northfield Hospital has a beautiful new campus and building, which is top notch. I like many of the doctors and I love most of the nurses. I will certainly go back there if I need another surgery of some kind.

PROS: lots of personal attention
CONS: less technological than bigger hospitals
