Ordered food for delivery. My hotel was less than a mile away, so I thought it would be a good choice for a quick delivery. When I ordered, they estimated 45 minutes. The food finally arrived 1-1/2 hours after I placed my order! No apology

I can put up with the occasional stomach ache - after all I'm usually in restaurants to socialize with friends. Thats what made this visit so disappointing - They kicked us out at 10.30 on a Friday night! We thought the service was pretty good, but the server automatically tacked on the tip - there were only six of us. We had to put up with the glares of angry kitchen staff before they flashed the lights on and off to give us the hint. My advice - don't even go there. There are so many better Thai places to eat in Minneapolis. Sawatdee is trading on reputation, sadly it bears no resemblance to what this place was a few years ago.

Great food but if it is the first time going, you will want to make sure you understand how hot you want your food. Good thing we went with friends who had been there before.

We have passed this restaurant so many times and never went in and finally ate there not too long ago and we were mad we didn't go sooner. Such good food, we both LOVED what we ordered.

Never had a worse time dining out. If you want horrible service, over-priced food, and a snotty attitude, then I guess this is the place for you. I will never be going back.

My parents and I each ordered individual dishes and all three of them were horribly bland and cold. Possibly worse Thai food I have ever had, and I have eaten at much shadier hole-in-the-wall places.

First off, all of the bartenders at the downtown Sawatdee get mad props. Second, get the Mai Thai, cuz it's one of the best drinks I've ever had. Third, the food is absolutely killer and the spring rolls are top notch. Good veggie/vegan

So far as Thai restaurants go, Sawatdee is only so-so. It was recommended to me as the only option in town when I first moved here, but since then I have discovered better and more affordable options that aren't so falsely touted.

More about Sawatdee

"Sawatdee began in 1983 as the first Thai restaurant in the five-state area. We bring fresh, authentic food from Thailand all the way to Minnesota. Sawatdee isn't just about great food; its about exploring Thai culture. Over thirty years and seven locations later, Sawatdee has become a twin cities favorite. Voted “Best Thai 2012_ by Mpls/St Paul Magazine Readers’ Poll. “Thai it, you’ll like it!” Beautiful warehouse-turned-restaurant, complete with a gold leaf ceiling and glass etchings of a Thai goddess. Specialties include Rama Thai Delight, Pad Thai, Tail of Two Cities, and Gai Yang Ubon."
