I went for their baklava and also ordered the one person combo...a must try!!! It was made for one person? Man, those Afghan people know how to eat. The food was completely awesome! I also bought some of their frozen pizzas, and they were amazing....not to mention very well priced! I have brought a new friend every time I go and they are hooked. There is somthing for everyone.

This place has got to be one of the best Aghani food joints in the world. I have never had such tastey and fresh foods ever. The food is not oily or heavy and is spiced appropriately. I am in love with this place. I love their pizzas. I love their bread. I love their goat meat. Believe me I never thought I would mention something like that. This place is a must try for everyone. The people are friendly and the food is good.

Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night wanting more. The football pizza is amazing. Get it with lamb or something more traditional, it will be delicious either way. I love this place!

WHOA!!! Stop Here. This place started off as a bakery and exploded from there. There mouth-watering combos of juicey kabobs, tastey stew meat, and the best hand-made rice the planet has ever seen. The environment is beautifully hand painted and the LARGE racks of fresh made every day breads are an amazing take home item. But wait, I didn't even tell you about their hand-made pizzas. They have the best afghani pizza on earth. This place is a must try. Whoever thought that this was a place to get a little sweet was blind and probably a fool due to the fact there are huge well lite display boards with pictures of their amazing items in the windows. Plus the PICTURE menu- Outrageous!!! One tip - this place gets packed so order ahead. Enjoy!!!

Crescent Moon is not a bakery in the conventional way we think of one, they have great mango smoothies, excellent pizza on flat-bread, and delicious lamb kabobs and savory rice. Don't go if you don't like ethnic food.

I regret not going to Crescent Moon sooner. I took my girl friend out to try something new and she suggested this awesome place. We ordered the Afghani combo for two and is was Amazing!!!. I went back with my buddies the next week and we had the Afghani combo for four and it was even better. The kabobs were so juciey and fresh. There was this awesome rice with raisins and carrots garnished on top and a tremendously outrageous green sauce. Crescent Moon is my next stop and I am going to take on their Afghani and Football pizzas. The secret is out. I am telling everyone about this place.
Pros: Huge parking lot in back, awesome food
Cons: no waitresses
Their Afghani pizza is incredible. I went there with 3 friends and 2 of us got the spinach tomato pizza (I think that was it), and 2 got the House special (beef, onions and green peppers). I was a bit iffy about the house special because green peppers can over take a pizza, but it was INCREDIBLE. Since my first trip there about 5 weeks ago I've been back 4 times, always delicious. The green dipping sauce is incredible, and it's prepared fairly quickly too. A must try.
What a find. We always love experience just as much as the food but plan for plenty of time. It s a place to relax and take in the atmoshere. The gentleman who is generally there makes us feel very welcome. The pizza is fabulous. The spice and sauce gives it something that we can't find anywhere else. We wish it was closer to home because we normally drive for 40 minutes to get there. Right now my husband is going through chemotherapy that has changed his sense of taste and all he talks about is getting to the crescent moon when he can taste again!
Pros: excellant food, diverse atmoshere
Cons: can be slow
I enjoy coming to that small family restaurant - it's cosy, welcoming, and offers great food at reasonable prices. The owners greet you as old friends and it is really one of the neighborhood attractions. The spinach & feta pies, afgani pizza, lamb cabobs are the best in the cities.
Pros: Food, prices, ambience
Cons: Street parking
We always get a cheese pizza with jalapenos. The sauce has this secrete tangy spicy to it, and the dough is wonderful. It is always made fresh. Very friendly staff, they remember us when we walk in. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves pizza or Mediterranean and garlic flavors. Kind of hard to find parking. Inside is not all that great looking. Large enough, and plenty of tables if you have a large group.
Pros: PIZZA
I know where the BEST Afghani pizza is made by hand is in the world. Crescent Moon. It is an really amazing must try. They have this mouth watering secret sauce combined with a tastey hand-made crust that will make you lick your fingers. You can have anything on top including eggplant, spinach, gyro, and their House Special. Their cheese is a perfect blend to make your molars go crazy and your tongue scream. They add this side of incredible green sauce to accompany the Pizza - "What the Heck? Only ONE container?" It is that good. But be careful when sinking your pearly whites into this pizza, it may bite you back (a little spicy). Wake Up Minneaota - You have a gold mine
Pros: Extremely Tastey Food
Cons: Can get busy
My roommate turned me on to this place last night. I'd had Indian and Persian food before, but this was slightly different. The Kourma was your typical three part plate....beef chunks in a spicy (but subtle) sauce, rice flavored with a spice I've never had before in my life, and a salad that was just ok. Their gyro meat was tasty and good in a meat pie. Baklava was very sweet and sticky. As others have said (on citypages) they could work more on service and bussing tables. Price was ok ($9 for my plate as I recall, baklava was $1.60 a piece).
Definitely one I will visit again and reccomend to others
Pros: interesting flavors
Cons: cleanliness of the tables
I am not one for trying something new but I can't thank my friends enough for convincing me to come here. The food is amazing. Everything had the right amount of seasoning and spice. I could eat this food everyday. And it is not oiled down. I highly recommend this place to anyone. See you there!!!!
Pros: Busy Place
Cons: Busy Place
Delicious! I love their food. The atmosphere is excellent. Great service. Their Afghani pizza is the best people I have ever had!
Pros: Everything
Cons: None
This place should not be missed. The smells are great, the atmosphere is amazing, and the food knocks you out. WHile I was imaging what the food was going to taste like I couldn't help notice the hand painted murals, hand made bakalava, and the hand placed plasma flat screen T.V. anouncing something in Persian. Woah! There was my food. Let me tell you Afghans love to eat. I think if I would have asked they might have joined me. Great people. Great Place. Heck go upstairs into their Amazing Banquet Hall. This is where I am getting MARRIED!
Pros: All the food, atmosphere, people, banquet hall
Cons: service a little slow if busy -- and they are
Although there are several Afghan restaurants in twin cities (including the oldest one in the united states), Crescent Moon Bakery has the best (and freshest) food with out making you go bankrupt - Da Afghan is over priced for less quality food. I would definitely recommend the award-winning Afghani Pizza (less spicy version is known as football pizza). Service is very personal and it is family owned. You will not leave hungry from this Afghan restaurant.
Pros: The best value hands down, family/kids friendly
Cons: limitted parking during the day
great food, I am a regular here. Great change from the oily and fatty foods.
I order there and take home to impress all my guests. It is the best kept secret
in MN. Try the 2 person combo, and the meat pies are great. Service is always
with a smile.
Pros: Quiet and peaceful
Cons: one bathroom
I went to this little place, not knowing what to expect. I was very pleased with the food and overall atmosphere of the place. I plan on going back. There is no table service, which would have been nice, but overall it's wonderful food. Well worth the visit.
Pros: food, value
Cons: no table service
we've had the platter for four delivered to us on four different occasions. It is similiar to Indian food, slightly more mellow in taste, but the moderate heat does eventually catch up to our gringo palates. It is very good! Their Afghan pizzas are alos very nice
Wonderful little spot on Central, slightly kitschy fountain with patio bistro tables, pretty Afghani girls doing their homework nex to us, covered head bent over the books. The fella behind the cash register (might have been the owner) was all smiles, the chai, chicken and rice were tasty, the value good. Great antidote to chains.
