We have used this clinic for 25 years for guinea pigs and now many, many cats. We have been through traumatic times and just routine care. I can not say enough good about the care from all the vets for both the animals and their human owners. I can not imagine going anywhere else for the care of my furries.

They care for small animals that other vets turn away. My bunny needed to be seen right away for an eye and inner ear infection and they squeezed him right in but took their time examining him thoroughly. They consulted with me and agreed not to do a test that would cost extra with no necessary results. Courteous and kind. Obviously animal lovers. Not cheap but no vet is, and I don't expect professional vet clinics to show their love for animals by undercutting expenses. That's what rescue volunteers do, but they also need vets to make enough on regular fees to be able to give them discounts.

I usually go to St. Francis Animal Hospital, which is well worth the drive from my south Minneapolis home. After the collapse of the 35W bridge and the following construction, I had a difficult time getting to S.F.A.H., so I called my vet to ask if he could work with Cedar Pet Clinic to get my dog's follow up vaccination. She had had an exam 4 weeks earlier and is in great health. My vet clinic was fully cooperative. Cedar Pet Clinic was awful. First of all, I could hardly understand the receptionist on the phone, she was speaking so quickly and monotone that it was difficult to even make out what she was saying. She was unfriendly and uncooperative. I explained the situation and that this was a follow up shot. I had also mentioned that someone from my vets office had called to facilitate this arrangement. I was told by the people at Cedar that in order to get this $14 follow up vaccine, I would need to pay for a full exam by one of their own vets, despite my very reputable vet having given her an exam less than a month earlier.
These people care much more about money than they do about people OR animals.
I was enraged by the lack of common sense and the blatant greed.
For a brief time, I considered taking my pets somewhere closer to home. Boy, did I dodge a bullet. I would never let the people at Cedar get their hands on my pets. What if they were really sick? What's the incentive to make them well? Cedar certainly makes more money if they stay ill.

Upon first arival the clinic treated my new puppy with great enthusiasm. As a puppy she is very high energy, and because of her constant movement, when they did the annual exam they did not thoroughly examine her ears. They told me she seemed fine because she wasn't fussy at home. Two days earlier, at puppy kindergarden the trainer was teaching dog owners how to clean ears and noticed that she had some yeast. This ear wax persisted, and I had mentioned that I wanted them to take ANOTHER look at the next visit. For this they wanted another $72.90 to "re-exam." Also they wanted to do a culture for $54.50, and they wanted to give me medication for an additional costly charge.
After talking to another owner of the same breed (with floppy ears) I discovered that yeast can clear up with a 1:1 ratio of vinegar to water. It worked wonders and cost about $2 for an entire bottle of vinegar! After talking to another vet I found that this method works in most cases. I was dissapointed I had to find all this out from other sources rather than my vet clinic. As a result, I will probably switch to another vet and not recommend.

PROS: friendly people
CONS: try to make as much money as they can at each visit

Cedar Pet Clinic got my cat in right away, and finally solved a strange sore on her upper lip that another clinic couldn't solve. Our veterinarian was right on time and genuinely seemed to care about our cat -- took the time to calm her down while in unfamiliar territory. I give them top marks and all of my future vet-business! They also had a very big range of animals in that day - a bird, rabbit, dog, and our cat. It seems like they must handle all pets with great care!

PROS: Friendly Vet, treatment that works!
CONS: I didn't go to them first!

I took my dog to Cedar Pet Clinic for the first time today and have never been happier. She had a minor skin infection and kennel cough and the staff was wonderful. They got me in immediately and cared for dog with a true love for animals and exteme compassion. The doctor took extra time to explain everything and even gave me great free samples to begin brushing my dogs teeth! Cedar Pet Clinic exemplifies what a vet experience should be for people and pets alike! I will continue to take both my cat and dog to the Clinic and encourage anyone else with pets to do the same!

PROS: They know what they are doing
CONS: price

Cedar Pet Clinic is full of people that love pets. My dog was very comfortable there and another benefit to their service was there great website. It had a lot of helpful information about dogs or cats and certain questions that you might forget to ask the vet. Very helpful! I can't wait to go again.
