Dog Power here, I wrote a glowing review of Isle's Bun & Coffee a few months back. Not long after that, I had a very bad experience at Isle's.

I had been raving about this place to everyone who would listen. In October I awoke early on a Friday morning to stop and get treats for my co-workers. I got to the store about 6:50 AM and there was a line about 15 minutes long, out the door. No problem, as I made friends in line and enjoyed the fantastic aroma the entire time.

It was finally my turn at the counter. I enthusiastically ordered 15 puppy dog tails. The woman at the counter looked at me as if I was trying to buy a pair of shoes. "It's a Friday morning, did you place an order??" I looked around the store like, does everyone else know you have to place an order? I was apologetic and told her next time I would certainly place an order. I told her that my co-workers were expecting treats and was their ANYthing I could purchase? She looked confused but then I said, how about a few regular size cinnamon and pecan rolls. She said that was fine and after spending twice the amount the 15 puppy dog tails would cost, I left the store . . . .feeling as if I had committed a crime.

The BEST part is the customer right behind me asked for 12 puppy dog tails and they were granted to her, and she had not placed an order. I sheepishly asked the woman serving me "and how come she was able to get puppy dog tails?" The woman helping me said "she only ordered 12. That is all we had." Hmmm, I would have taken the 12 puppy dog tails!!!!

Horrible service. I haven't been back since and don't plan on returning.

I can't even describe how much I love Isle's Bun and Coffee. Their cinnamon rolls are excellent and so are their caramel and pecan caramel rolls. I am a coffee drinker and I think they make the best americano in town. Both the pastries and the coffee are very reasonably priced as well.

No, they don't have a lot of tables but if they did, that would mean a larger space. Part of their cozy charm, in my opinion, is their quaint, old building. Isles Bun and Coffee is one of only a few places that resembles a "European" feel in the city.

The only drawback is that they don't have a gluten free cinnamon bun. I am now gluten free so I can no longer enjoy them. . .but I still dream about them! Go get one (or two) while you can!

Great cinnamon rolls and i'm not a fan of cinnamon rolls to begin with. The difference, it's sweet without being too sweet. I also love that I get to control how much icing I want.

the fresh OJ was great, the coffee was not. I'm a "transplant to MN" and i'm not a fan of the local coffee, but if that is your thing you will enjoy the coffee.

Avoid Saturday mornings around 10am unless you want to stand in line for 20 - 30 minutes, but it's well worth the wait.

Can I say that I love that most of the people who where in line were people who just finished working out, what a way to treat yourself following a work out.

Pros: Flavor, Price, Control of Icing, Fresh OJ

Cons: Coffee

The buns are great! The counter person was so rude that I think I would rather go to Super America and get a Hostess Twinkie. I had ordered the day before and it still took them 15 minutes to get my order together. I understand being busy, but a thank you and a smile goes a long way.

Isle's Bun has THE best cinnamon rolls in Minnesota, if not in the midwest including Chicago. You can also get a great latte or coffee or FRESH Squeezed OJ. They aren't Starbucks, they are more of a bakery not a coffee shop. But try finding fresh squeezed OJ at Starbucks or even Caribou these days. These people do great work, they know what they are doing and do it better than anyone in Minneapolis. If you want the clean and sterile feeling of a huge corporation then go find it, if you want real love you can eat, go to Isle Buns!!!! Thanks Isle's!

Yummy baked goodies. Very few tables. Coffee drinks are usually not that great. It?s ok, BUT I think it?s the only place in the Twin Cities where you can get freshly baked goodies AND fresh coffee at the same place.

A friend had recommended this bakery to me but it took awhile before I finally tried it out. My expectations were exceeded with the cinnamon rolls. They are huge and incredibly delicious. There is a smaller version called puppy dog tails. You can ask for them without frosting, if you want a bit less sweetness. They are baked fresh--I took a box home that were warm and just out of the oven. Outstanding! I craved them for a week after first trying them. Mmm. Good coffee, too.

...but I go there for the Wonderful Scones and the BEST coffee in the Twin Cities!
I am reluctant to spread the word on this place, but it is simply the best.
And I like the people that work there too.

Wow! So Good! The best cinnamon rolls I have ever had in my life. They are big, warm, soft with lots of frosting on top. The staff is great. It's a nice neighborhood shop. The prices are reasonable.

and you'll be hooked! A friend raved about the rolls here, but I was skeptical. Oh, they were every bit as good as she said, better even, a little piece of heaven right here on earth. The place is tiny, but the rolls, oh, the rolls are an experience you cannot miss.
