I went here with a date on a week night. We ordered the crab cake as an appetizer.. My date - spagetti and meatballs, and me - scallops with the risotto.

Maybe what I ordered just wasn't that good... The risotto was too salty and lacked vegetables, and the scallops tasted kinda rubbery and seemed rather overpriced for what it was (32 dollars?!)

The spagetti and meatballs were okay - but it lacked sauce and the meatballs tasted kinda weird - like they had lamb in them.. (which I'm ethically against eating)...

The crab cake was pretty good, but seemed rather overpriced at 13 dollars. The redeaming quality about it was the crab cake had a lot of crab in it, and the salad next to it was refreshing taste.

All in all, I'm hesitant on going to this place again... due to the cost of food and the quality. Nice try Pazzaluna, but you won't get our dollars again!

the server spilled water on me to start. then she waited 30 minutes to take my order and my drink was empty the entire meal without even an inquiry as to whether i wanted another. yet another reason i believe that older people need to stay out of the service industry. they are obviously burned out. leave it to the grad students!

I enjoyed the meal, and so did my date. it was a risk because i have never been their, all i have done is read reviews on line like this one. i was satisfied and happy with the waitress and food. it was a little noisy, but not to loud to have a conversation. I did not use the valet service because of the reputation i have heard of them. we got out spending 60$. my date got a free dessert because it was her birthday, so that was nice. also, i went on a wednesday night at around eight oclock and it was pretty busy. i wonder what the weekends are like. Even though still busy, the service was wonderful and really injoyed my waitress.

We went to Pazzaluna on a busy friday night and we were pleased with the level of service, the great food and the fun atmosphere. The only thing we did not like was the valet service. It literally took 15 minutes to bring our car around. I understand it was busy, but 15 minutes was a long time. We would definetely go back.

We used to eat at Pazzaluna before all our dances in high school. More recently, I've eaten there with my family. The establishment is very accommodating for large parties, and the wait staff is friendly. Oh, and the food isn't bad either :)

Wonderful food and great service. The appetizers's menu is perfect for a casual dinning experience. A pity that such a fine establishment places large tables ( with 8 or 10 guests) near tables for only two or four guests! As a suggestion, perhaps the manager should re-visit the seating options?

I always go here before an event at the Ordway. It helps set the tone for a fabulous and memorable evening. They even keep your left overs for you so you can pick them back up after your evening is over. Truely exceptional dining experience.

Great happy hour crowd, and dinner was wonderful as well. I loved the inside of this room, it has such cool vibe. The food was well worth the money we spent and I would certainly like to go back and try out some other options. The server helped me out a ton on the wine since I don't know much about italian wines, but the choice he made was perfect for my wife and I. Food was outstanding, I went with the classic pasta and meatballs and my wife had a shrimp and rice dish that looked beautiful. I will go back for sure!

On the way to Cabaret my cousin and I stopped for dinner. We were running a bit late but seating and service was exceptional at Pazzaluna. Wait staff was a very friendly, even those not serving our table. All I can say about the food is the Gnocchi with Bolognese was so wonderful I would not share with my cousin! Will absolutely return for this house specialty!

Great place to have Happy Hours, good beer deals. Also, margarhita pizzas are $5 (used to be only $3). Dinner service is iffy.

Just went to Pazzaluna for the first time, and I will definitely be coming back again! I was celebrating my birthday with five friends. We had reservations at 7:15 and were seated promptly upon walking in the door. Our table was in the back dining room, next to the window. The waitress was very attentive, congratulated me on my birthday, and then took our beverage orders. The menu looked delicious. It had several risottos, gnocchi, pizzas, pasta entrees, and meat entrees. I ordered the gnocchi (having eaten it in Italy last year my expectations were rather high) with pomodoro sauce. The bread basket with olive tapenade was excellent. Our entrees arrived in less than 30 minutes and were delicious. My gnocchi was fabulous. The consistency was spot on. A fellow dining companion ordered a pizza with barbeque style chicken that was also phenomenal. For dessert, we ordered tiramisu (mine was on the house for my birthday). It was slightly dry, but flavored well.

Overall, it was a superior dining experience. As someone who always drives to Mpls for dinner, I was certainly be stopping back in St. Paul to visit Pazzaluna again. Also, we did the valet parking ($8) as it was -45 wind chill. The valet took less than 3 minutes to retrieve our car!!!!! Phenomenal service on such a cold night!!!

I valeted my car with Pazzaluna last night before I had dinner there with some friends. After dinner we seen the Rocky Horror Show. The valet service said it was no problem to have our car in valet while we went to the show. When I came back from the play I gave the valet service my ticket for my car. It was about a 30 minutes wait to get my car. When they pulled my car up they were driving it to fast and slammed on the breaks. I got in my car and the radio was on KDWB instead of my CD which I was listening to. I thought that was very strange. I then switched my stereo back to CD wich to find out my STEREO DECK said DISK 2 EMPTY. I then knew right then and there that my new CD was stolen. I imediatley got out fo my car and asked the Valet that I wanted my cd back. They told me that they did not take anything and that I needed to check in my cd case. I told them that I do not own a cd case cause my stereo holds 6 CDs which I have full at all times. I even pulled out all of my cd to show them that I was missing one. I told them I even still had the reciept to prove I had boughten the cd. They did nothing. They took my number and name down, but they would not give me there names or a number to contact them. I called Pazzaluna and spoke to a manager and they said they will take care of the problem. I am now waiting to here back from PAZZALUNA. If they would like to keep a good name I would suggest that they hire a more reputable valet company.

This place has a lot of potential. Great spot, beautiful building, Excellent Food & Beverage menu's. Here is what I experienced though: Host was either really stressed or really rude or both. Waited 20 minutes beyond our reservation time to be seated......which really wasn't that big of a deal. However, we waited 15 minutes before the server acknowleged us and then had to flag her down all night. Above average plate presentation. Excellent flavor. Excessive wait for food..........30 minutes for App and 1 hour between app and entree'. Excellent port and grappa selection. Only took 10 minutes to get dessert and it was fabulous. Busy and LOUD restaurant. Not good for conversation. Overall, poor customer service, long wait, poor service and above average to excellent food. There are way too many restaurants out there for us to go to. I was dissapointed but will return and give it another try........but they do need improvements.

Pazzaluna is definitely has the best Italian food in St. Paul. Friday was my 2nd trip to the restaurant, and I was definitely not disappointed. The service was great and fast, especially considering the fairly large crowd of people who also seem to realize how extraordinary the food is. I ordered the Capallini alla Caprese, which was absolutely wonderful. My wife had the Saltimbocca di Pollo, and had the same to say about her dish. For dessert we Tiramisu, which is definitely the best I've had since I was growing up in New York with my Sicilian grandmother. I definitely recommend Pazzluna! Amazing food, great service!

Dear Friends,

This is a top notch upscale Italian restaurant. The Staff is impeccable. The restaurant is glamorous. The mangement are on top of each detail. I observe the suits on the floor, meeting, greeting and seating. One of the nicest things about the setting you feel comfortable and are treated like royalty wether you are dressed for the theater, a game or concert.

If you think you have done it all, tasted it all, or it's just another piece of pasta, then you haven't dined at Pazzaluna in St. Paul. The Chef they have is not only highly skilled, he is just plain gifted. We observe him in front of the line inspecting each plate before it goes out to the dining room (Chef Ramsey style, without the rude comments of course) well, we know this guy really cares. I have never been dissappointed, never. I have tried a different menu item each time I visit and each time I have been amazed. The menu is diverse, traditional to trendy, but the flavors will tantalize your palate and always leave you wanting more.

A group of 14 of us dined here on a Tuesday evening (12 June). Since my wife and I were at one end of a long table, I have no idea what the judgment may have been of the other end. For us, though, the entrees were excellent (gnocchi ai quattro formaggi) and transcendent (risotto with chicken and asparagus in a saffron broth). The latter was stunningly good; it had to be due to the broth itself. The first course calamari Genovese (not fried) was, alas, overdone and consequently tough. Another diner mentioned tough calamari in her cioppino. They should know the rule for cooking squid: 45 seconds or 45 minutes. A contorno - a "side" of broccoli rapini - could've been tenderer. A molten chocolate cake - increasingly common on menus, to which, as an unapologetic chocoholic, I have no objection at all - was very nice. Prices struck me as reasonable, as did the choices on the menu. The woman who was our server handled the large table with cheerfulness and efficiency, even splitting the tab among us. Aesthetically, this is one of the prettiest dining venues I've seen in the TC. (Our server raised the aesthetic level, too, I can't resist mentioning.) The decibel level was rather high but not annoyingly so. All in all, it was a pleasant evening with, as far as my wife and I are concerned, more pluses than minuses. If there are risotto lovers out there, I urge you to go to Pazzaluna and feast on theirs. I understand it's always on the menu.

I ordered the Risotto and it came out looking like something you wouldn't dare eat and tasted terrible when the waiter said it was good. My friend try playing it safe and ordered a very expensive salad. It came out with a very big block of cheese, white in color, and some green leaves probably from Asia. My other two friends played it safe and ordered things like spaghetti and the other ordered fettucini and it came out ok.. but still very over priced. It looks like they tried way too hard but the favor was just lacking.

I love this place. Gents, if you want to impress your date, it's worth the drive over the river. Have the valet park your car and whisk her in for one of the coolest dining experiences in the Twin Cities. The flirtinis are killer, the food is fantastic and the atmosphere is chill, but so fun. Great place for girls' happy hour...which is never just one hour!

Based on rave reviews about Pazzaluna's parking and dining amenities and their close proximity to the Ordway theater, I chose Pazzaluna for a friends' dinner/theater night. What a nightmare and personal embarrassment. I arrived at 5:00 p.m. - when the valet begins. At 5:05 p.m. my friends arrived and were told the valet parking was filled (5 minutes after opening?).

Following our dinner/theater experience, I returned to pick up my car. I was told the wait was approximately 20 minutes. While initially disappointing based on the great service I have experienced in the past with valet companies, 20 minutes wasn't a terribly long time to wait.

Now keep in mind, you are waiting either inside or outside -standing the entire time.

45 minutes later and after my inquiry at 30 minutes, I was enraged. Half way through my pregnancy, I am not in the mood or shape to stand this long. I was told my car could not be located. I was escorted into a parking ramp that would have set the perfect seen for any of the three Saw movies. Then I was led to a random room in the ramp to find my car key. Walking a total of 14 floors while 5 months pregnant, I arrived at my car.

I had approached the manager of Pazzaluna earlier in the evening regarding their lack of valet spaces. She treated the situation as if the two entities (the valet and restaurant) were independent. My advice to you is to avoid the valet. And my advice to Pazzaluna is to get a reputable company to handle their valet and to treat their customers better. They aren't the best thing going in town and if they keep this kind of service up, they won't continue to exist. As a side note, this is only further confirmation that downtown Minneapolis has a better fine dining scene.

I like going here before events in downtown Saint Paul. I suggest reservations on weekend evenings. My favorite seat is at the counter so you can watch the executive chef check that the parsley is properly aligned before the plates go out.

I suggest the $40 steak with a twig of rosemary stuck in in like a tree.

What a great happy hour! $2.50 pints of Summit and great prices on (somewhat smallish) Cosmos. And a margharita pizza for $3.33!!! Awesome!

The only downside is that during happy hour they seem to be one or two servers short, so getting refills or other attention is problematic. Hope they fix that!

Food is good. Wine list by the glass could be updated!

Very much enjoyed our 2 visits while in MPS area. Arrived at dinner hour w no resv, staff & owner very accomodating-inquired if we'd consider cuchina counter seating.
Great experience, fun & entertaining chefs/cooks visited with us while cooking, food is truly exceptional.
2nd visit, had resv & lg group. Seated immediately, same warm reception by every staff person, lingered over dinner, dessert/coffee w/o any indication of time constraint.
Feel at home & welcome in this sophisticated, yet friendly place.

Very much enjoyed our 2 visits while in MPS area. Arrived at dinner hour w no resv, staff & owner very accomodating-inquired if we'd consider cuchina counter seating.

We made a reservation and were promptly seated when we arrived. Fantastic food and service. Everyone in my party raved about their dishes. Highly Recommended for upscale Italian.

Pros: Food, Service

Cons: Crowded Tables

I just had a really disappointing evening there last night after a Wild game. The service was really poor and when it was all over, the valet said it would take 20 minutes to retrieve our car -- which was fine -- but an hour and a half later, well, that's not so fine. I talked to the manager in a sort of "Uh, excuse me, but is it possible that my car no longer exists because an hour and a half is kinda long, yes?"

Recently went with a group of 4 on a Thurs night. Made reservation for 7:00 and got seated right away when we arrived. Serice was lacking right off the bat. We had to actually stop a waiter and ask if he could get one for us. You would think given that, once our waitress did show up, (she did apologize saying there was a mix up with who had our table) she would make it a point to give us extra attention, especially since there were plenty of empty tables around. Unfortunately that was not the case. Food was good. Seafood pasta, chicken, and ravioli were all liked at our table. Drinks were a little on the high side. Vallet was nice, $6, considering parking in downtown St Paul stinks

I went to Pazzaluna for the first time a few days ago and it was amazing. We had reservations and were seated immediately. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly. The wine list was extensive. A bit pricey, but it was definitely the best gnocchi I've had since I got back from Italy.

Perfect night out...had reservation and was seated quickly at a nice table. Friendly and efficient service. Excellent drinks, delicious food, beautiful decor. Looking forward to returning.
UPDATE: Have been back several times and each time has been wonderful. Try to avoid a table near the kitchen if possible. Ask for a table near the windows or a front booth.

I had called a month ahead of time to reserve a spot for my wife to go to on Valentines Day. I had heard that Pazzaluna was quite difficult to get into and wanted to plan ahead. The start of the experience began with my wife being told that we had a two hour reservation on the table and that we would have to leave by 9:00. Our server was average and the food was nothing to rave about. My wife had lobster ravioli, which was overcooked. I had the Filet Mignon, which I would rate about a 7. Another bothersome item was that we could pick up cigar smells coming from the bar as well as the smell of food being prepared. Next year I will stick with those places that have a good reputation.

I've wanted to go to Pazzaluna for a long time, but they aren't open for lunch or on Sundays. I finally made it there for Happy Hour on a Thursday and it lived up to all the hype. The atmosphere was lively and urban; the half price beer and drink special can't be beat; and the service was spot on. I will definitely go back. Four stars.

Had a great experience here last weekend. Food was very well done across the board especially Scallop soup and Duck Breast Risotto. Waiter was an absolute pro- suggested the perfect Italian wine with my duck entree and the pasta my wife had. We will be going back - already felt like regulars our first night. Our new fave on this side of the river.

My party of six in general approve our dinner at Pazza this past Sat. The six-selection appetizer was great with salmon and cured meat. My lamb was delicious. On the other hand I'm very disappointed to learn that the smoked chicken I used to have there was taken off the menu. The more devastating news was that they don't allow customers to bring wine anymore even for a corkage fee. Waitress was friendly and prompt.

I have been a regular customer for about six months and the new menu is fantastic. On my last visit my entree was executed to perfection...the flavors brought me back to being in Italy for vacation a few years back. The server was knowledgeable and as friendly and helpful as can be. The desserts were exceptional, I had the fresh berries and my girlfriend had the trio of Ice cream that was incredible. Overall the experience was and has been very positive on every visit.

My husband and I dined here for my birthday. We made reservations and were seated fairly promptly. The atmosphere was loud and crowded. The service was irritated, bored and unpleasant. The salads were horrible - they must prepare the salads in advance and store them in the freezer because the ice-cold, wilting lettuce was sticking to the frozen plate and the croutons were soggy and cold. The entrees were good, but not excellent. I've had better service and food at Macaroni Grill (for less than $$$). I will never go back and I will never recommend the place. Thanks, Pazzaluna, for making my birthday memorable!

The atmosphere was very nice. The service bordered on ignoring you. I enjoyed most of the food, but my pasta was a little cold and tough. Overall the restaurant is nice, but it could be better.

We called on a Friday for a Saturday reservation and not only did we get one, but we were seated promptly when we arrived. The table was lovely, the service was excellent - a nice leisurely meal. I would recommend this restaurant for special occasions.

Although my boyfriend and I had made reservations long in advance for our aniversary, we had to wait and then were seated next to the kitchen area, which was loud and of lesser quality than the main dining area. Service was slow - we had to continuously waive down our waitress. And rude. It was hard to have a conversation above all the noise. The food was bland and very expensive for what it was. The host seemed upset when we entered and said we had a reservation. I will not return and do not recommend others to go.

The salad was pathetic, limp with mostly veins. The brushetta was saturated with oil, I needed a shower after trying to eat it. And, to make matters worse, my cognac was watered down.
At least the tiramisu was enjoyable.

My wife and I went here for a pre-theater dinner at the bar. We had beer (selection is mediocre), my wife had a glass of wine, and we had a pizza and an appetizer of fried seafood. The pizza was acceptable snack food but nothing special, certainly not Italian. The fried seafood was swimming in grease. The bartender was affected and irritable (okay, I provoked her, I said Minnesota does not have good pizza). Bill was 32 dollars/person, about ten more per person than at Vine Park for example, and considerably more than even the same meal would have been at the Saint Paul Grill. Another gripe: no televisions. Maybe sitdown with entrees would be better: your call.

I went to Pazzaluna for a special occasion with my husband, and it turned out to be a great pick. Every single person, from the valet to the waiter to the guy who refills water, were very nice and helpful. Every single thing we ordered was excellent. The waiter recommended a wine that was exactly what we asked for. I just can't say enough! This is a wonderful place for a special occasion or if you just wanted to be treated like you are special.

Heard so much about this place ... and well it seemed to be just hot air. The food was boring -- as if it was trying too hard, but never got there.

The service was rated poor only because of the LONG, overextended wait (2 hours!) we were told 45 minutes, which would have been acceptable. We had to ask about our table 3 different times. At the last request we were told they didn't know where we were at! (Sitting in the bar!!!) Once we got to our table the service was great.

The food and atmosphere is awesome. I've never had an entree that wasn't great. The best is the scallop soup, it's very flavorful. Dessert is also really good.

if you dine in the bar you get free valet parking and they have great specials - i.e. two soups, a pizza and two classes of wine for approx $35!! great food and great deal!

The food was OK, and our waitress was not good at all. We waited for 35 minutes to get our meals after we had already received our appetizers and salad. Our meal (for four of us) was approximately $150...and the food was average at best.
