.

I went to this bar with some of my friends by accident (we thought a friends band was playing)
there was a sign on the door saying there was a $5 cover but since it was a monday night I asked the bouncer if there was still a cover and he said "there's a cover EVERY night" like he was proud of it

I paid the cover anyway

the first band had 3 people, the drummer thought he was in a metal band, the organ player (organ!) thought he was in a polka band, and the singer thought she was in church (and couldn't sing anyway) but atleast they looked like they were having a good time, even of nobody else was

the second band was worse, just a drummer and a singer, (no guitars or anything) which might have been ok, if the singer could actually sing instead of just yelling though a delay pedal, there were a whole 2 people watching this band

how does Big V's think they can charge $5 for garbage I wouldn't listen to for free? especially when you have places like the hexagon that never charge a cover

Pros: they occasionally have bands worth the $5 cover

Cons: most of the bands aren't worth $1 let alone $5

in reply to the first review: we are a local band and we got paid. maybe they didn't like you. and if you're going to Big V's for rail drinks and long islands, you're going to the wrong place. buy pbr or summit or something. anyway, varieties of bands come through and it's a cozy, dark, kinda dirty bar which is exactly what it set out to be, so quit complaining about the unique bathroom.

We performed at Big V's recently, and although musically the experience was great, the rest of the experience was really sub par.
First, the drinks are ridiculously expensive. Long Island Ice Teas for like $10. Rail drinks are really tiny and really expensive as well.
The mens bathroom doesn't have a door, so there is no privacy. Only good part about the bathroom is that there is a cologne dispenser, so for 25 cents you can stink yourself up with Polo or Dakar.
The sound system was pretty good, the stage was small, and with every beat of the bass drum, you could feel the stage shaking under your feet.
Worst part, they wouldn't pay any of the local bands. Not a big draw at Big V's, and they decided to give all the money to one band that was driving through town, and completely stiffed the local and regional bands.

Pros: Stinky 25 cent Dakar and Polo cologne dispensers in the bathroom.

Cons: bad stage, scary bathrooms, stiffs local bands, expensive drinks.

very fine noise music tends to be played at this bar. not the loudest of venues, but it is intimately sweet.

During the week and when it is slow this is a great neighborhood bar to relax and hang out at. Cheap drinks and cozy atmosphere. At nights, especially weekends you can catch some great bands. Local music and other bands from around the country that like to rock the house.
