I would not recommend this place to anyone. We wasted nearly an hour to be sitting there with water waiting for our waitress to come to take our order. We could not wait long enough to try the food, but it is more than likely the same as the service.....crap! After the manager did NOT apologize, he wished us better luck with our evening. Our luck changed as walking out the door and driving a few miles down the road to Nokomis & had an ecceptional meal with excellent service. Lakeview Castle is not the place to go!!

Pros: Nice view of the lake

Cons: the service is horrible & so is the management!!

I'd heard good things about Lakeview Castle, so we decided to venture over the other weekend for a quiet lunch. Probably not the best choice in hindsight. The building exterior is interesting, impressive, even as a change of pace. You walk across the drawbridge and into the restaurant bar expecting a sense of majesty. Of course on the inside, it looks like your typical pub/restaurant built in the 70s, complete with faux-leather booths and wood-look formica tabletops. There were also a couple of holes cut into the drywall above the dining area, likely left from a recent construction project. I'm hoping it was just an off day (a Sunday afternoon), but there was only one waitress covering the dining area. Service was slow and unfriendly. Perhaps someone called in sick and left the server on her own... still it wasn't a pleasant experience. Food was decent, fairly typical sans the Greek Salad. $9 got my wife a huge plate of nearly-white iceberg lettuce along with giro meat, tomato, onion, olive... and no feta. $9 for a house salad with a few small extras. I'd be embarrassed to serve a salad such poor lettuce. On the upside, they had about four Minnesota-produced beers on tap and it looks like it might be a fun place at night.
