My son was at New Horizon childcare center and it was great. They helped us with potty training and everything. They provide an update at the end of each day that tells you how your child ate that day, played with friends, what their mood was, etc. It was great!

I live in Champlin and work in DT Mpls, I thought about putting my infant daughter in daycare at the downtown center but after reading the reviews of the poor child care I opted for the Champlin location. I myself went to the North Mpls location (Camden neighborhood) my whole life and had amazing care there. Now, my daughter gets the same great care in Champlin. Research the specific location you are wanting to bring your child to before you write off the whole chain because of bad experiences at certain centers!!! Different centers are staffed and run by different people, since people are inherently varied you are going to get different levels of care. I am in NO WAY saying what happened with the poisoning or steel hammer is okay. But take it all with a grain of salt.
Overall, I feel VERY safe with New Horizon and my daughter's development is amazing because of the stimulation she gets from the teacers.

When my son was in the care of New Horizon in Prior Lake, he was hit on the head with a real steel hammer and needed stitches. He was also peed on by another child and he was not changed out of his soiled clothing! New Horizon is the bottom of the barrel for child care. Consider Primrose as an alternative, we did and loved it! It has been two years since we left New Horizon, but I still get fired up over our experiences there...as does my son, when we go to the doctor and he asks if he's getting stitches! Horrible, horrible, horrible!!!

My son has been there since he was 4 and half months and he is over 12 months now. We feel terrible about that mother and son who experienced a parent's worst nightmare. However, this did happen some time ago, and I have spoken with the current director and that staff that was there when this happened is no longer employed there. And I can tell you that I came everyday over lunch and sat in the room and witnessed first hand the amount of care and love this staff gives to each child. It is just like any place if a center or school loses a great teacher/aid then the climate of the classroom changes. Just be involved, ask questions and give your opinion of a care giver. They take very seriously the opinion of a parent and will make changes to accommodate any parent's request for their child. I can say the only reason we may not keep our son here for preschool, is because we want him to learn Spanish and have a stronger music influence. So we are looking for other schools in downtown/South Minneapolis which offer this kind of curriculum.

I watched a staff member manhandle the infants there, another child sat, bent over, in a bouncy chair with her head on the floor, until I - a parent who was breastfeeding my own son, helped the baby, because the teacher was no where to be found. The director guaranteed my 3 month old son's safety and I believed her. A week later they poisoned him - gave him another child's HEART medicine, rushed by ambulance to the hospital, and we still haven't seen so much as an apology.
They work very hard deleting my reviews, but I will keep posting them, and now I have the help of other parents who have had a similar experience with this group of people.

My neice loves this place. They have so many different things for the kids to do. They learn something new everytime she's there. The teachers are absolutely wonderful! They are very caring and kind. My niece runs to the doors eager to get in there and get the day started. Highly recommended!

My children love this daycare, they learn so many new things and they love their teacher! The owner was an elementary teacher so she has a lot of experience with different ages of children. This is a great place for kids! Prices are a little high though.

Its just sickening, but we have to settle. 16 months after they poisoned my then 3 month old Nick, even after an I-Team investigation, no law has been changed, no one has stepped up to fix the problem, not even the state representatives have called me back. I tried to get the law changed to make sure that Day care center operators are required to get training on how to dispense Medication to infants and toddlers in daycare centers, In Minnesota they are not required to even know how to READ ENGLISH and they are allowed to bypass all training and accreditation requirements. These slimebags continue their claim as being " industry leaders", while doing nothing. They are luckily dodging a huge bullet by my son not DYING from their mistake. It breaks my heart that my son means nothing to them. Nothing. Their insurance company has offered to give Nick about $100 bucks for his pain and suffering, after all the expenses we incurred. **********PLEASE DO NOT CONSIDER THIS INSTITUTION FOR YOUR DAY CARE NEEDS!************** Before you say, "Did you not check references?" We checked everything on them, asked all the right questions, dropped in, took a tour, got another lady fired for manhandling infants, another two reprimanded for neglecting another, and they still ended up nearly killing my son, even after a personal guarantee from the director, that he would be safe. I didn't believe her and on the last day my son was scheduled to be there, they gave him another child's heart medication and my son was rushed via ambulance to THE WRONG HOSPITAL! To have them not even so much as change their policy just makes me want to jump out of my skin. I feel sorry for all the kids there that continue to suffer at the hands of those who work (some illegally) at this facility. YOUR BABY IS NOT SAFE HERE. This company (owners of New Horizons) does not learn from their mistakes and they do not care about your child. No matter how nice they seem.

Pros: Can't think of any

Cons: No adequate supervision, poor cleanliness, baby received thrush from frequent multiple babies bottles swapping

They are luckily dodging a huge bullet by my son not DYING from their mistake.

It breaks my heart that my son means nothing to them. Nothing. Only 3 weeks at this facility, starting at 9 weeks old, my son was subject to manhandling, neglect, starvation, and picked up thrush from them giving him another baby's bottle one day, then picking up a filthy pacifier (not his) and shoving it in his mouth while I walked in. I filed my reports with the state on what I saw, and was appalled at the lack of care for the infants and toddlers. Shocking!!!

Not in my wildest dreams did I imagine this kind of horrible care existed! Certainly not when my now x-employer recommended them!

YOUR BABY IS NOT SAFE HERE. New Horizons does not learn from their mistakes and they do not care about your child. No matter how nice they may seem, its all about your money, folks!

Pros: None

Cons: Continuous, upsetting visits that resulted in two being fired for maltreatment and my son going to the ER.
