The experience that my fiance and I had there was amazing! He had originally purchased my engagement ring from another store...but after poor quality and poor service, we decided to go somewhere else when a prong broke off on my ring and the original store wouldn't fix it without charging me...but that's another review.\n\nWe walked into the store and were warmly greeted by Dani (Danielle). We told her why we were there and that we wanted to look at band to have my original diamond set into. We were offered beverages and started talking price point right away. We told her we only had a budget of $500 and she said ""No problem!"" She told us that they don't work on commission so there would be no pressure. There wasn't any pressure to buy (maybe they got new people, or retrained their staff). She never once pulled out a band that would be out of our price range. She even told me that she is figuring the cost of the work into the band so after everything and taxes we would make our budget. \n\nShe even got a loose diamond that was the same size and shape as my diamond to place in the setting so i could get the full effect of it. As she was working with us we chatted and laughed about different things and really made both my fiance and I feel comfortable. \n\nAfter we settled on the band she told us about the different services that Shane Co offers and that it is all free for life no matter what. Throughout our conversation we mentioned that we live on the north shore about a 4.5 hour drive from the store. She said that a family member could certainly pick it up for us...but she did one better. She went into the back room and came back to tell us that they were going to fedex it overnight free for us...a service they usually charge for. She said she didn't want us to have to make the drive to pick up the ring. \n\nMy fiance and I left ecstatic about the service and product that we received from this store. She kept as right on budget (a little over because I picked the ring with diamond accents :) ) Needless to say we will be returning to purchase or wedding bands...and already told my guy to not buy from anywhere else. \n

I bought a diamond on Tuesday Night, my girlfriend was not with me and I was told about their lifetime guarantee (which is no longer because of bankruptcy), and I was told to suprise her and I could return it if she did not like it. The next day, we both had off and went shopping and she found a diamond at another store that was much better quality. I then went to Shane to return the diamond a day later, and the salesperson said they could not return it because a judge in bankruptcy court said they could not return any jewelry. I couldn't believe it. I later found out that before I had purchased the diamond, Shane had already filed bankruptcy and that the salesperson lied to me about lifetime guarantees and return policy. There are none. He new they were already bankrupt when he sold me. No where on my receipt does it say final sale, no signs in the store said all sales are final. I got scammed. I then went on their website and it still had a return policy. But they have not changed their website to reflect the state of their company in bankruptcy. My advice, do not loose out on an engagement ring, a ring that is most important to you and your future wife. Stay away they are a sinking ship. The sales staff is not telling the whole truth so they can make commision dollars.

Cons: Bankrupt, Sales staff not honest about return policy, they are done

After hearing the commercials, i went to Shane Co. to avoid the pressure of other jewelers. Even though the sales staff is not on commission, I still felt very pushed and hassled. I looked at a few items, but got so tired of the over the top sales person that I left and went to another jeweler where they were much friendlier and ended up buying there instead.

My fiance and I visited Shane Co. twice to look at engagement rings and once to look at wedding bands. Each of the three times we visited we hoped our experience would be better but continued to have an overall unpleasant experience and we regretted going back.\r\nThe sales people at the store weren't honest, particularly helpful or nice and were pushy. Similar to another previous review, the sales person made claims that a couple rings were one of a kinds but later the sales person brought us another of the same ring or we would point out another of the same ring, and the sales person would seem embarrassed and agree with us that we were right about it being the same ring. After our first visit, the sales person pressured us multiple times to put the rings on lay away even though we said we weren?t interested and had only begun looking. At our second visit, I had narrowed down the particular style of rings I was looking for and decided I definitely didn?t like a characteristic about it, but the sales person tried to convince me I had no reason to dislike it and to completely disregarded my opinion. When we entered the store the last time, we looked around for about ten minutes at wedding bands and for a sales person to help us. Since it seemed like none of the sales people were going to help us and because of our past negative experiences, we were ready to leave the store and were not addressed and asked if we needed help until we were walking out. We politely said no thanks and left the store.\r\nI would not waste my time at this store in the future. The Twin Cities offers much better jeweler options.

Pros: Variety and fairly large selection

Cons: Poor customer service, lack of honesty, sales pressure

I said right from the start that I only wanted to look and I was very clear what I wanted to look for, diamond studs. Every person in the store took a swipe at me and they all said the same things which a complete sentences taken right form the Mercury review on this site. I was really put off when two different younger girl associates showed me dangel earrings and fashion earrings that they liked and suggested for me to give. I said that my wife wanted studs and they still persisted. I had four different salespeople telling to buy the whole visit. I felt a lot of pressure and that I wasn;t listened to.

Apparently we must have interupted our sales girl (she looked like maybe fifteen or sixteen) from some homework or something 'cause she was super short tempered and rude. Very unhappy here. I asked about thier exclusive verragio stuff (I LOVE verragio) that I heard about on the radio (the stupid boring guy ads, seriously, the worst ever) and they showed me two rings that every other store that has Verragio has. I brought this up to our chick and she just said, ""well these are exclusive to shane co."" Should have seen her face when I showed her a picture of it on my phone from another store earlier in the wek, complete with the store name in the shot. She goes, ""well I was told these two were exclusive to our store, I'll have to check."" She never did and I will never be back to check either.

Pros: they don't have their horrible commercials on in the store

Cons: Rude service, false claims and salespeople who don't care

The Shane Co has the best selection AND the best prices. Their FREE lifetime guarantee cannot be beaten, designer ring selection is amazing--exclusive designs from Verragio-- and the staff is so friendly! They don't work on commission and the jewelers on site do an excellent job. My ring was ready sooner than I expected, and when it needed to be polished they did it on the spot for me. The store hours are convenient, too. They also have a best-price guarantee, but I don't know how anyone would beat them. They're my jeweler for life!
