This place has the best Mexican food I have had since coming from Southern California. It's very authentic. The staff are pleasant, very professional, and willing to go above and beyond to provide superior customer service. The portion sizes outdo the cost of your meal.
We live in the Circle Pines area and normally to get good quality, AUTHENTIC Mexican food, I have to drive all the way down to Concord Street in South Saint Paul. This is just up the road and WE LOVE IT! My Grandparents were from Mexico City, so I know authentic. The decore and colors on the wall are all "the real deal" The prices are affordable, especially at lunch---6 or 7 or 8 bucks for entrees. The menu has many choices...I like the basics, all good, and the mocahete is phenomenal!!
You definitely get your money's worth with large portions, free re-fills, and a very attentive waitstaff. Be forewarned though that is far from authentic Mexican fare. If you order a chili relleno it is made with a bell pepper. The waitress told me this up front and that for an additional charge they will use the correct chili para rellenar so I would not be disappointed. The majority of the waitstaff is actually from my hometown in Leon, Guanajuato so I always love chit-chatting with them about "the old stomping grounds" Many places will charge extra for drink (non-alcoholic, claro!) and duritas (chips) re-fills, not so here. All in all a very good value and pleasant experience as long as you know ahead of time that the dishes are far more American than Mexican.
Pros: value/portions, ample seating, service
Cons: not authentic
My husband loves Mexican food - so we've tried it all. This is the only place in the Twin Cities to prepare authentic Mexican food the way we had it in Mazatlan. Absolutely the best! Plus, fast, friendly service, and a very good value! The only negative thing I have to say is that the atmosphere is very Perkins-like. But, everything else makes up for it.
Pros: Authentic Mexican, Fast & Friendly, Inexpensive
Cons: bla atmosphere
The service is fast and food is wonderful here. I would recommend this over any Mexican chain that the Twin Cities offers. Fun atmosphere for groups with great specials on drinks during Happy Hour.
Pros: Food, Service, Price
