I honestly do not know what I would do without Thai's expert cuts. I highly recommend him.

Thai has excellent scissor skills. He cuts my thick hair with great care, but also he cuts it with a precision and the kind of speed that is rarely seen elsewhere around town. Not only this, his haircuts last for a long time too. He also offers advice on how to maintain your new hairstyle at home.

Thai told me that he is trained both here and in Asia as well and he has been cutting hair for over 2 decades, which explains why (to me at least) why he is so skilled at his craft.

He rents a chair inside Salon Clair Beau (Richfield/Edina border). The receptionist there takes appointment calls for him at (612) 861-2450 or once you see him, you can ask him for his personal business card with his number on it.

Thai is a true professional hair stylist -- and I would highly recommend him to anyone.

I had read a lot of reviews about Thai, and so I decided to go get a haircut today. It was probably one of the best haircuts I have ever had.

I have a short/bob-like haircut, but my hair often needs to be precision cut (a lot of texturing, use of razor, thinning shears, etc.) This guy is like a mechanic with a drawer full of tools for every problem. He knew every technique, cut it wet (and then cut it when it was dry, to make sure everything was still looking good), and then gave a nice simple style.

I would recommend him without reservation for anyone who is ready for a great haircut.

THANKS, THAI!!!!

I don't often write reviews, but I in the case of Thai and Han , I need to let people know about these two.

I'm sohohohoho glad I found Thai. He literally saved my hair after an AWFUL haircut at one of those chain salons. Han is his wife, and she's also very good at what she does.

Thai is my go-to hairstylist though. He's very knowledgeable about all types of hair, very talented with a pair of shears, and very friendly. I cannot say enough good things about this guy.

His haircuts for women are not expensive, but they're not dirt cheap either. However, they are worth every penny!

I recommend him to anyone and everyone!

New Location Details:

Salon Clair Beau
2906 W. 66th Street
Richfield, MN 55423
(612) 861-2450

Walk-ins are NOT welcome here. You HAVE to make an appointment. Make sure you tell the receptionist you need an appointment with either Thai or Han when you call.

The old number for Salon Andrew still works, (612) 879-6330. You can leave voice mail messages there regarding appointments and they will call you back to confirm.

Make sure you bring enough cash for your hair+tip since Thai & Han will have to give you change out of their pockets. They also take checks but can no longer take credit cards at this new place.

I have very unmanageable hair, they are the only two that can ever fix my hair! It looks like I have natural straight, non-frizzy, shiny hair after the style! LOVE IT! My friends & cousins all go there; NEW LOCATION: Salon Claire Beau (ask for thai or han). I just did my highlights...very nice!

I was searching for Thai"s new location and contact information last month and finally got hold of his wife. Han told me where to call for an appointment and their new location. I went and got my new cut and two color highlight (full head) for a very good price. I really like the colors Thai picked out for my hair and the cut he gave me. I got lots of compliments for my new look from friends and family member. With my new cut and color made my sister wanted to cut her hair and color, so I took her in today to get a her hair cut and color and my sister look fantastic with her new look. Now all my sister and sister-in-law want to get their hair done from Thai after seeing my little sister' new cut and highlight. What I really like about Thai is that he know what he is doing and plus Thai would let you know what it is best for you and your hair. Thai is a fantastic stylist and I highly recommend him to anyone who look for a good look with a good price.

I have been going to see Thai and Han for the last 4 1/2 years. I walk out of their salon a very satisfied customer, every time. I get compliments from family and friends after every visit. Thai has an eye for style and color. Han is detail orientated and very patient.
Both are SUPER friendly and know their customers by name.
They have relocated to Richfield, a little farther from where I live, but they are worth the drive.
I highly recommend the dynamic duo to anyone looking for a great cut and color.

After speaking with Thai, trying to find out what Han and Thai are going to be doing, after the shop. Sounds like Thai will be in the south metro, and will still keep the same number, and still cuting hari! This is great because I have never received the service that I have at Salon Andrew before, and will travel to get my hair cut from Thai. I am new to the area and I was extremly pleased with what I saw and received as service from a family owned salon. I hope to still be able to go and get my haircut from Thai as soon as he's set up where ever he is planning to go.

I had heard about Salon Andrew from the reviews and from family, so I called for an appointment and was able to get one for the same day. When I walked in, I loved the funky, bright wall colors, and how clean it was. I also noticed that Thay and I were the only people there. I described briefly what I wanted, then he took me back to shampoo and condition my hair. He then textured and layered my hair so that it perfectly complimented my face. He was friendly and talked the whole time, but also balanced taking care of me with answering the phones and acknowledging the five new clients who walked in within the hour. His wife Hanh also returned with their son from school and both of them ran the place very smoothly. I love how he did my hair. He styled it before I left, but it also works well without styling at all. It's textured and layered such that no matter how it falls, it looks good. I can tell that it will also grow out well. They will be moving to Richfield in June, which will be a slightly less convenient location for me, but I will definitely commute the extra distance to get my hair done by them. More expensive and trendier salons have not come even close to how welcome I felt and the quality of cut I received.

PROS: experience, family-run, price ($29 for amazing cut), can handle all hair-types including Asian hair
CONS: parking can be difficult sometimes

I've been to all kinds of spas and salons in different cities in the US in the last 10 years... but I've never been to one like Salon Andrew or met owners like Han and Thai Nguyen.

I just moved to the Twin Cities and noticed the salon a week ago... and I needed my roots fixed up for engagement photos this weekend. I read a few good reviews... and I figured, why not.

It's not a spa atmosphere when you walk in the door, true. But don't plan on spending a ton of money. Han did my color, and then her husband, Thai, asked me if I wanted him to cut my hair. He told me I won't believe what he could do.

I had color correction, foil highlights, an AMAZING cut, eyebrow wax, AND shampoo/conditioner for about $115. A little color alone at other places costs that much without a tip!

My haircut is fantastic... it's layered, but you don't see big chunks, it's so smooth. And Thai showed me how to do it at home. I've never seen anyone so passionate about hair! He's right, I can't believe how good it looks. Either that, or I've had very ugly hair ever since I left for college.

Han and Thai are so friendly and I don't plan on ever going to another salon as long as I live here in the Twin Cities.

I was referred to the owner, his name is Thai, from a friend. At first glance it looks a dumpy place and the salon poorly located but this guy's talent for haircutting is unbelievable! He's been putting hair since he was 14 years old, an Aveda graduate, and has worked in top salons all over the place. He's here because he likes having his own business and making his own hours. The best thing about it is, "He loves hair!" Since I like trendy and edgy styles, he's the man I go do. He's really good with layering hair, short or long and he's really fast with the scissors! No kidding here. I thought he was going to lop my ear off but trust him, he knows what he's doing! I typically go to Juut and I've tried a few other places in the Uptown Area ("do" on W. Lake, Hair Police, Juut on W. Lake, etc.) but this place is the best kept secret ever. This is the only place where I've walked in with a picture and walked away with the hairstyle I asked for. He's good at looking at your facial structure and then cutting the style to match it. I can't say enough things about him and his superb ability to cut hair. Not to mention the cheap prices. I usually tip him well because he includes a wash and simple style in his prices. Don't get him talking about biking though because that's his new love and if you get him going, there's no way you'll get in a word edge-wise. But it's cool to hear him talk about how much he loves it! He's the kind of person who finds what he likes to do and delves into it 200%, like cutting hair. You can see that when he cuts your hair; he treats it like it's some kind of masterpiece or art piece he's working on. He takes time with care and detail, making sure it all looks right. I fear he's gonna get discovered and then prices will go up.

Hanh and Thay, the owners, are very nice. Thay was trained at Aveda and cuts very well. Also, the reasonable price ($16 for guys) includes TWO washes - before and after! And that is why I love them.
