.

I used this bank for 4 years, with no real issues-until my checkbook was stolen. I called the bank right away. I told them to stop the checks and they recommended that I close that account. Fine. They told me to come in and sign the papers for closing and opening a new account, but in the meantime they would charge me the standard fee to stop the stolen checks (I was unable to sign papers for a couple days). I communicated very clearly my situation, as I was in contact with them more than once about this during that period. Then I got a notice from WFB for NSF fees because the stolen checks had bounced- after my account had been closed. I called them, and they told me not to worry, they knew my situation, disregard the notice. I received another notice a couple days later from WFB for another round of bounced checks. Again, they reassured me that everything was ok and I don't have to worry about it. It did feel odd to get those and a bigger red flag should have went up. Anyways, time goes by and I get a notice from a collection agency- they were now the proud owners of one of the stolen checks. I then received one or two more notices from collection agencies. Wells Federal sent the checks they very well knew were stolen/fraudulent back as NSF instead of stamping them stolen (as any competent bank would have done). I called them and they were very unapologetic, rude and insinuated that I was to blame. They also told me to come in and sign the affidavits for all the checks. I did so, then had to hunt down the collection agencies for all the places the checks were written (not an easy task) and send them my affidavits and call them. It was a complete hassel and soo stressful. Everything could have been completely avoided had the bank done as they were suppose to, not to mention their unfriendly attitude towards me and their negligence only made a bad stressful situation, worse. I did get a refund for the stop check since they didn't do that either...
