SunCountry is telling everyone that to repurchase the tickets it will be at the Hobbit price. This is the price that Hobbit had charged everyone. Please BEWARE! This price is marked up! Call Sun Country and ask for a new quote for seats for the dates you are planning to fly... I bet they will be @$40.00 less! Once you get your quoted price call Sun Country back and speak to someone in "existing reservations". Tell them that you were quoted this price and you would like the Sun Country price instead of what you were told was the Hobbit price. We were able to get a refund of $40.00 a person after doing this.

Need two tickets round trip to Rome, starting in May 2010 and return in September 2010. 1 Stop only, a ticket insurance, 1 hail seat close to the other seat. Lowest price, I can wait for the prices to go down soon.

My grandfather bought 19 airline tickets using Hobbit Travel flying our entire family to Tucson AZ and then driving to Mexico. We thought we were fine since we had ticket confirmations and seat assignments already through Sun Country. We found out that Hobbit had not paid for any of the tickets. So, my grandpa was told to contact the credit card company. He already got a response back from the credit card company that said he would not be able to recoup any of the costs from them. Grandpa ended up having to buy all 19 tickets again otherwise he would have been out thousands of more dollars in downpayments on 6 condos in Mexico. He has since filed a complaint with the Minnesota Attorney Generals Office. This was our Christmas present from grandma and grandpa who are in thier 80's. He is so sick about it. If anyone finds out a way to get money back, please post it. Grandpa is out thousands of dollars.

In May of 2009 - 5 girlfriends made reservations for an air, ground transportation, cruise package and all of us purchased travel insurance. We paid for our entire trip in full on June 3rd. Our trip is scheduled for February 6, 2010. We have several emails between us and Hobbit travel, once of which was on November 6th in which the Hobbit agent reconfirmed that our entire trip is paid in full. After seeing the press release on December 22nd, we checked with Carnival Cruise and learned that our cruise was in fact paid for. Our Airline tickets, transfers and Insurance were not! This money was pocketed by Hobbit Travel.

I find it highly suspicious that Sun Country Airlines has our flight reservations on file. All of our names, the dates and flight numbers are confirmed but we have to pay them an additional $430.00 to get from Minneapolis to Miami. They have been absolutely no help to us. We get the same patent answer every time we call...sorry and you will have to contact your credit card company to get your money back and in the mean time we want your credit card number to charge you for the $430 airfare (which we already paid for at a much lower price). Do the crooks who owned Hobbit also own part of Sun Country Airlines? I think they are in cahoots with each other...and are all THIEVES at BEST!

So we are each out over $400, need to buy new tickets at $430 plus ground transportation and we still have no travel insurance. If you booked a Sun Country flight through Hobbit or Trilogy BEWARE!
I booked with Hobbit in Aug 2009 for a Sun Country flight for 3 passengers, a Feb 2010 flight. You must call Sun Country to see if your flight was paid by Hobbit (I paid Hobbit, but they did not pay Sun Country). Mine was not paid by Hobbit even though I booked 6 months early. I spoke with an annoying girl with an attitude at Sun Country. She told me to call my credit card company and call back to Sun Country if documentation was required. I had been on hold for almost 30 minutes and was not about to do that again as I knew the credit card company would not issue a refund without proof that Sun Country was not paid. WHEN YOU CALL SUN COUNTRY YOU MUST INSIST THAT THEY FAX OR MAIL YOU PROOF THAT HOBBIT DID NOT PAY FOR THE FLIGHT! My credit card company faxed me paperwork for a claim and informed me that I could deduct the disputed amount from my next payment when the claim paperwork is filed along with proof from Sun Country that the tickets were not paid for by Hobbit/Trilogy.

I rated Hobbit with one star only because zero was not allowed.

Does anyone have any updated information on Hobbit Travel? My Cruise was booked for Jan 31, 2010. My Crusie was paid for, but my airline tickets were not. When I called Sun Country Airlines,they were no help. They told me that my reservation was booked but the tickets were not paid for. I could purchase them through them and take out travel insurance. My family and I were planning a cruise on Carnival for this March. We went through Hobbit travel and booked the trip in November, 2009. There are 9 family members going with my parents paying for the trip. My mother has been saving for 2 years to pay for this trip and it was over $11000. We found after Hobbit travel closed that half of the trip has not been applied to our vacation and we paid by check for most of the trip because it was too expensive and higher than the credit cards limit. We can??t even get a refund on that money from Hobbit.

They left everyone lingering!!!! We figured since we were paid in full that total balance SHOULD have been applied to our reservations and vacation. Not that they just pocketed the money and closed up.

We cannot cancel because we are within the 89 days of the trip and would have to pay too much in penalities. We have half our trip expenses to pay all over again out of pocket (that we don??t have) and hope to get the money back someday?? This is basically that Hobbit travel robbed us of our money, took it and ran!!!! I have sent a consumer report to the Minnesota Attorney General??s office and the Better Business Bureau, but there is no way to tell how long or if they can do anything for us anyway. Way to ruin a family vacation 3 years in the planning and 2 years of saving!! All excited about a wonderful, entire family vacation and regardless this has put us in a bind financially, stressed us out completely, and totally ruined our future vacation.

If anyone every hears how to go after Hobbit travel to recoup the money they STOLE from many people, please write a course or action or a review here to let us all know! Thanks!

It's really sad to see that the agents at Hobbit Travel have lost their jobs! This company has had the BEST agents to work with. It's unbelievable that the owners have screwed so many people out of so much money! It's also very scary to think that George Wozniak could reopen another travel agency after screwing so many people out of money. He and the rest of the owners should NEVER be able to reopen without having to repay each and every customer what is owed to them. A word of advise to anyone purchasing travel, whether it be an airline ticket or vacation package-ALWAYS PAY WITH CREDIT CARD. This is the only way to get money back. There's really no easy way to get your money back if a business closes and you pay by check or cash. Everyone that has lost money by this agency should file a complaint with the Attorney General's Office and try to keep them from being able to reopen!

I will never recommend your company again - even if your doors DO reopen, as you would hope. You will most certainly join the ranks of another recently failed man in Minnesota if you continue to practice business in such a manner. Do not add me to your email list for hot deals, just simply refund my $2500 that you "agreed" to pay to SunCountry for my cruise in March 2010. Isn't that what a business deal is all about? I agreed to pay you for services that you so blatantly did not provide? Shame on you, Mr. Wozniak. To have to pay again for the same trip is ridiculous!! Shame on YOU!

They did pay for my cruise the day I paid them, Nov. 24th, So I assumed they had paid the airline and after trying to get through to Sun Country numerous times, I finally found that they hadn't been paid, but the seats had been reserved by Hobbit. Now I have to contest the fare I was charged by Hobbit with My credit card company. In June of 2009, I booked airline tickets through Hobbit Travel for travel in March of 2010. I learned today that although I paid for the tickets six months ago, the airline was never paid by Hobbit. I was forced to dispute the charge through my credit card company and book new reservations for the same trip. The airline was very helpful and charged me the same fare even though fares now are higher than they were in June. I feel fortunate that I was able to get the same flights at the same cost. I was cheated by Hobbit Travel and hope they never reopen.

In June of 2008 we booked a cruide for Feb of 2009. We took out insurance incase something happend. Well, something did and we cancelled in the fall of 2008. In Jan we received the amount for the insurance part of the refund but we still needed $1200.00 from Hobbit from their end. Between my husband and I we called Jo Waik out of MPLS once a week asking were our refund was. She kept coming up with excusses one after another. Now over a year later we are watching TV and see that they are shut down...NICE!!!!

I just contacted Justin at Zimmerman Reed law firm today to start a class action lawsuit against Hobbit Travel. We booked in June and cancelled 10 days later. The cruise and airline gave a refund in 2 weeks. Hobbit promised a refund in the winter due to backlog of refunds and then stopped returning calls. The last message I left was on Monday and today they are "out of business." If they owe you a refund, too, I suggest you contact an attorney or call Zimmerman Reed for a class action lawsuit @ (612) 341-0400.

I agree they are the worst business that exists period. I booked a cruise w/ them in Mid-September 2009. I canceled it a few days later. It's Christmas and they have refused - deliberately- to refund the rest of my money - $550 - and it's been about 15 weeks that I keep paying finance charges on my credit card. The managers refuse to return my calls; they had a lachey of theirs call me to SWEAR the refund was being fast-tracked to the top of their list (it wasn't because nothing has been done in nearly a month since the lachey called). I have filed formal complaints against them w/ the Better Business Bureau and the MN Attorney General's office and guess what? They don't care -STILL no response, no money refunded, no apology. Next will be small claims court.

They should call this place Robbery Travel.

We had a great experience with Hobbitt and could not have asked for a better agent. (Bev) They even helped us pack. The cruise was great and they even found a way to upgrade us. I think the negative reviews are more due to "inept" travelers rather than Hobbitt. We are already looking to book another cruise with them.

Hobbit Travel is totally inept at best, and unwilling to take responsibility for their mistakes. We booked a flight to vegas for our family. Their representative (Jane Foley) told me that it was cheaper to book 3 of us on 1 itinerary and the 4th on a seperate one. She put our 11 Yr old daughter on a flight by herself. I asked her to change it to either me or my husband and was told that is unneccessary "because you are all traveling together". Turns out she mistyped the date on my husband and my itineraries and got it right on our daughter's. Now she is flying into "Sin City" one day earlier than the rest of the family. Because I didn't catch the mistake until two weeks before the flight they won't do anything to fix it. Unless of course we want to pay a $100 fee per ticket plus the difference in the cost of the ticket, which is obviously higher since we are only 2 weeks out. For her to fly by herself, we have to pay an additional $75 fee for an unaccompanied minor. We are missing out outbound flight from Vegas the next day and will now have to rent a car and drive to our final destination (9 hour drive). To top it all off, I get a Vmail from the lovely Jane basically calling me a liar and saying "for all we know, she (my daughter) may have been traveling with someone else all along... People call us all the time with stories like that". REALLY? Maybe it's becasue you don't know what the heck you are doing?!!? SERIOUSLY FOLKS>>> avoid Hobbit Travel like the plague and if you chose to try to "save money" by flying with them, watch your back, read every word and assume they got it all wrong, because chances are...they did!

They book us directly out of Fargo and beat local travel agencies by many $$$. We have never met our agent/freind - Kay, but we connect very well on-line. We rely on her rec. as we give her details of what we want and are always very pleased. Many of our freinds are amazed that we use a non-local agency and get such good results - we recom. I have to vote positively about Hobbit. I had missed my flight to San Francisco due to a chronic condition which flared up. Luckily I had insured the flight. I felt better 24 hours later and still wanted to go. Hobbit made that happen. They got me on a flight the same day I called for less than I had paid originally. They saved my vacation and I will always be grateful.

Do NOT GO WITH HOBBIT - THEY'LL STEAL YOUR MONEY!!!

When I booked my 4 day trip to Vegas, it was a simple click online. When I called later to see about why I didn't have two separate rooms for 4 people, they said it would cost me an additional $200. If I had booked separately for the 4 of us as couples, the difference would have been $12.

The representative on the phone said she could not do anything to change the purchase. I asked to speak to a supervisor and she returned saying they canceled the reservation and I would not be charged.

Sure enough, three days later, $1200 were taken out of my bank account. When I called Hobbit, I spoke to the same representative who then told me that I would have to wait 6-10 weeks!!

Horrible. Robbery at it's best.

Our agent at Hobbit (thanks Kathy!) covered every detail from the low price to the park n fly recommendation to the representative waiting for us at the airport in Miami. We were treated like a King and Queen! We originally looked at booking the same trip online but called Hobbit and couldn't believe the difference in price and we had someone guide us through every step of the way. I won't waste my time with anyone else in the future and go right to Hobbit.

If a minus rating were possible, I would assign Hobbit Travel a NEGATIVE 12! Worst customer service in the twin cities. Steer clear of this place. Used them to book a family cruise vacation and they "forgot" to process my final payment so all our reservations were cancelled. No apologies, no compensation, just - sorry, we made a mistake. Avoid your own mistake and find a better travel agent, they are out there!

i will never use this place again.after they screwed up my sons visit on christmas eve.i had to go get him 3 hours away.they are very rude and don;t know there destinactions .beware people or better yet don't book with these people because they will rip you off...beware

I booked a trip through Hobbit Travel back at the beginning of June ??08. The trip was for two to Las Vegas for $784.18. Something came up and I called QUESTIONING canceling one ticket. In turn the travel agent put me on hold for a few moments and returning with, ??Well I canceled your entire package for you.? I was only requesting what the penalties were. They said they will keep $250 of the $784.18 for cancellation fee purposes and I have yet to get all my money back. Terrible customer service.

After hearing an ad on the radio for an air and cruise I called and listened to the prices and ports of call. When I asked what the final cost to me would be with all the extras and taxes I was told $604 After receiving the Email with instructions and final price I found two invoices one for air and one for the cruise with a total of $1083. Hobbit travel is an agency I would always recommend to my friends. Twice have I used their services, twice have I been more than satisfied with exceptional services. This last time the agent worked for me as if she was the one traveling. Her name is Helen and works at the Saint Paul branch. Her advice on immigration rules helped my wife and Seven month-old daughter to handle any thing that would have brought problem at the airport. Helen followed up on everything she promised in order to complete the transaction. Every body in the office that afternoon was very caring, but Helen was wonderful in know-how and customer service. I remain very satisfied.

The whole experience from collecting information, booking the trip and the trip itself, far exceeded both our dreams and expectations. Our travel agent was so knowledgeable about the area and gave us great ideas. The air arrangements and hotel accommodations were right on. We just returned from a family cruise vacation to the southern Caribbean arranged by Hobbit (agent RJ). In planning for nearly a year we figured all accommodations had been discussed, reviewed and were in place for our 27 family member - once in a lifetime vacation. Discovered that virtually nothing we understood to be arranged would be delivered! Staterooms aboard the ship requested to be "nearby one another" were scattered among 3 different levels on opposite sides of the ship. No shuttle transport arrangements to take 27 people from the San Juan airport to the pier or back were in place; spent 3+ hours on consecutive Sundays making / paying out of pocket for our own group transport arrangements, loading our own luggage, etc. Nobody at Hobbit available (willing?) to help! List of undeliverables goes on... Special recognition / celebration aboard the ship in honor of great-grand parent's 60th wedding anniversary, discussed as part of trip planning - never happened. Rate discount for larger group trip booking in form of monetary 'rebate' - never happened (now they don't even remember talking to us about it!) Overall, managed to have a relatively enjoyable vacation DESPITE Hobbit Travel certainly not because of anything they did to accommodate us! Wondering in hindsight what a travel agency's commission would be on a $30,000 family trip?

Definitely would not recommend Hobbit. Would never consider using them again for any trip planning; individual or group. Strongly recommend anybody seriously consider other agencies to entrust their travel planning to - particularly group travel.

My wife called Hobbit Travel and spoke to an agent for a quote on a cruise. She was quoted an amount around $3800 for 5 passengers split between 2 outside cabins. The agent offered to hold these 2 cabins at this price and my wife agreed to this. We then looked into and found flights but before we booked my wife called the agent back to make sure that the fare and cabins were being held. She was assured that they were. We then moved forward and booked flights to Miami via our credit card companies mileage program (non-transferrable, non-refundable). When my wife called the agent to book the cruise she was told there had been a mistake and that the fare would not be honored, but that for a rate of $4600 the cruise could be booked. My wife expressed that she had specifically checked twice on this and had booked airfare predicated on this verbal agreement on the cruise fare. The agent, though polite said she would not be able to assist in any way regarding this error. Jen asked to speak to a manager and was told that "Joe" the manager was busy and put through to voice mail.

I then called Hobbit and after some time was connected to a manager "Andrea". I politely expressed my surprise that Hobbit would not honor the fare that was twice quoted by their agent and that we were assured was being held for us. I explained that we had booked airfare based on this verbal agreement. Andrea said that Hobbit would not be able to help with regards to the fare for the cruise. She did not offer to in any way alter the full fare of the cruise despite the clear error by Hobbit staff. I was surprised that no fare adjustment of any kind was offered.

I am surprised that a local company would conduct business in this way. To me, it is short sighted and somewhat arrogant to not live up to the obligations verbally agreed to in good faith. In my area of work if I make an error I go out of my way to make this up to the affected party. This does not appear to be part of the culture at the Hobbit office my wife called and this is disappointing to us. That an error was made is upsetting but understandable. The response to this error by Hobbit is not appropriate and does not speak well of the company.

what a fabulous company. They have the best deals leaving MSP. I just bought tickets to Denver for $69 round trip. I have gone to Phoenix for as low as $129 round trip. The best thing is that even though they are out of Minnesota, if someone from Phoenix wanted to fly here, they would get the same discount.

A group of friends and I traveled to Boston and recieved a very good price on tickets through this agency. Ever since then, whenever I travel this is the first place I call to check for prices as I have found that they are rarely-ever under-priced.
