I went here with my family after a trip on the Minnehaha and was not looking forward to it. I figured it was just another supper club on the lake. I WAS WRONG. Exceptional service and setting. Very reasonable pricing and food options. Being a vegetarian I figured I'd only get to choose between a house or ceasar salad but there were a number of other great options. I highly recommend the Portabello Burger...out of this world! Great place!
Beautiful restaurant with a great food. The service is also excellent and the view is spectacular. They also have dining on the deck, lakeside. Surpisely this place had a kids menu, but it looks more upscale than a place to bring a 4 year old to. But it is indeed a family place.
My family goes out to eat here as much as is monetarily possible! This best is the asian chicken salad....absolutely delicious! It is right on Lake Minnetoka, in the adorable city of Wayzata. You can eat out on the patio if the weather isn't 20 below. The atmosphere is crowded and loud, if you don't mind it, and there is usually a 30 minute wait, which is always worth it.
very hip, popular happy hour bar! they defiantly fill up fast during their happy hour from 9 - close! service is usually decent , but if you are dressed to not impress, don't expect the top service, they seem to walk right past you as if you don't belong there (we learned out lesson that day! )
Pros: great service, get happy hour prices
I had the opportunity to try this place for a Sunday Brunch. We were able to sit outside on a perfect late summer day. The view was nice, the service was good without being in your face. The brunch options were nice and there was enough that my entire party was able to enjoy what they ate.
Cons - desserts that were dry, the cakes were apparently home made and they were the best and went fast. Avoid the little cupcake style desserts.
The fruit plate. The fruit was good and fresh the problems was that for people like me with fruit allergies the mixing of some fruit and the same use of utensils I was unable to enjoy any fruit. (I realize that this is more of a personal issue but could easily be solved by placing fruit in separate bowls).
I would recommend this place to anyone for a nice reasonably priced breakfast. Go on a nice day and sit outside (when it's warm of course).
Pros: location/view, value, freshness
No need for the salt and pepper shakers at this restaurant as the food is seasoned perfectly, the fish & chips are excellent. The Jefferson parish chicken is served on a bed of pork tasso hash which is to die for. Lot's of places have some cajun entrees on there menus but when you get them they are far from cajun, not here, you get what you order. I've brought both of my sons who are ages 10 and 1 and it is good for children as well. My only complaint is that the wait staff needs to be a more familiar with the menu, but that won't stop me from dining here in the future. Overall Excellent.
Pros: The food
Cons: Wait staffs knowledge of menu
Sunsets has a new chef and new menu worth checking out. The new chef is David Robinson, who has appeared on local television and is a veteran chef of some of the twin cities top restaurants. Patrons like his food so much, they follow him from establishment to establishment. New additions to the menu include Harvest Farfalle, Asian Burger, and one of the best appetizers I've had in a restaurant in a long time is the lamb lollies... YUM!!! Go check it out - he's ever making changes to the menu. so expect more surprises, including an awesome New Years' Eve menu. (PS - Plan to be at Sunsets next Thanksgiving for the feast - Oh my goodness, was it delicious)!!
Pros: New Chef and Menu
Cons: Service is not as polished as the food
The great view of the lake makes this a wonderful spot for dates or more casual dining. The walleye is excellent, and the service is just right. Overall a charming expereince.
Pros: Great food, view
Cons: pricey
I enjoyed dinning here. They have a diverse menu with a seafood emphasis. Nice floor plan and good bar area. We loved the location and even liked when a train rolled by (which is 15 feet away from the restaurant).
The only negative was their wait staff. They seemed like high school kids with little training.
Pros: Good menu
Cons: lightly trained wait staff
If not for any other reason, go here for their Chicken Wild Rice Soup! It is the best ever! Definitely worth the trip to try it!
This is one of those places that I just can't understand why it is so popular. Yes, it's a great location, but everything else about this place is below average. The menu is safe and tries too hard to please everyone. I've been here twice, both against my will. The first time, I ordered a salad which was terribly over-dressed with a sickeningly sweet strawberry dressing. My girlfriend's roast chicken came out so overdone we had to send it back. The second time, I ordered a mushroom pasta. The pasta was limp and overcooked and the whole dish was dry. It had clearly spent some serious time under a heat lamp. Service is OK, but not stellar. This restaurant is clearly not trying to cater to people who really enjoy food. If you are a middle aged suburbanite with more money than taste, than this is the place for you.
Pros: Location
Cons: Boring food, clientele
Navigating Wayzata can be confusing, but parking was easy. Seating was immediate (prior reservation), and the view across the water great. While service was prompt and attentive, I found the atmosphere loud and crowded despite the "upscale" decor and location. The loud bar with TV's right next to the seating/eating area detracted quite a bit. I found the menu choices merely average, especially considering price. OK wine list. I ordered the walleye while my friend ordered salmon. Both fish were cooked well but without any memorable taste to them. In all, an "average" MN restaurant trying, but failing, to scale up.
Pros: Parking, Waterfront View, Nearby shops
Cons: Loud, Not Private, Hard to find
A beautiful place on a summer night. Sit outside and listen to the boats and water. The menu has been made over. It had been a few years since I had been, but have been there three times in the past few months. Everything is good ... don't forget to look at the nightly specials as there are some unique and tasty treats. The brunch is also outstanding.
Pros: The View, The Food
The food is only average. The staff is no more competent or friendly than you will find anywhere else. The decor is upscale but otherwise uneventful. What really makes this place is location. Not many places afford you a view of Wayzata Bay and the activities on the lake.
Overall I feel this place is a little expensive for what you get food and drink wise. However, they are always busy so it appears the market will bear this price point for them because of the view.
Pros: view
Cons: price
I found sunsets to be a little disappointing, considering how everyone raves about it. Its too cold to sit outside right now, so that might be a part of it. The atmosphere was very disappointing, food was ok. Wait staff, hello? We will try again; maybe next time will be better.
Pros: Lake View, inexpensive
Cons: wait staff, sports bar atmosphere
I found this establishment to be very comfortable. The quality of the food and the service were very good. There was a wait to be seated. I've visited twice, and found a good mix in the crowd and the menu. Nice area/view, too.
they have super thick bacon and plenty of it with your eggs (cooked the way you like them) and super fast service. Go early so you dojn't have to wait long! the large portions are worth the wait though! your coffee cup is never one or two sips low.
Pros: food quality, inexpensive, celebrity crowd
Cons: wait, bad parking, crowded
I felt like a fool for trying this place again a second time, but I wanted to be sure the first night wasn't just a bad fluke. Well, now I'm sure. The food is good, but not worth the prices. The service is AWFUL, and it wasn't even busy! The wait staff stands around & talks to each other instead of taking orders or checking on tables. The atmosphere is nice, but ruined by the "wannabe" clientel that have watched too many Beverly Hills 90210 and Melrose Place re-runs. Why people praise this place, I'll never know.
Cons: Bad service, Overpriced
