I have a certified preowned (CPO)VW Passat. The service technician at this dealership tried to cheat me out 6 months of the warranty. Only after I called up VW customer service and insisted that they talk to the dealership about the terms of the CPO warranty did they change their mind.I will never go there again.

Beware!! Just as the title states. Employees never know what is going on, so you get charged for random things that no one knows about. The manager does not give a crap about anyone either.

Poor Customer Service/Rude Service Manager

I brought my new-to-me VW into Schmelz for service on 3 occasions in 2 weeks. On the second visit, they mechanics stipped my locking lug nuts while attempting to remove them and then tried to charge me $100+ per tire to drill them out. My husband spent 3 hours doing this himself. On the third visit, a scheduled oil change, I was told my oil pan was stripped where the plug goes and would have to be replaced at almost $500. No explanation and no apologies. When I asked to take my car, they made me sign a waiver. When my husband and I went back to complain to the service manager she was rude and unhelpful. She told us that they did nothing wrong, offered no condolences for the damage and gave me no reason to ever come back. She made a point of telling us they have many happy return customers. Kind of hard not to return when your car is under warranty and they are the only VW on this side of town. Her whole attitude was disparaging and obnoxious. I will never return to Schemlz for parts, service or anything. I would rather drive 40 miles out of my way then to set foot in their dealership.

Bad service

Dear Sir,
After a series of inconveniences caused by their service personal I gave an unsatisfactory rating to the VW phone survey. In retaliation, the service manager charged us for a rental which she at one time said would be paid for.
After very unsatisfying and condescending exchanges with the service manager I feel bad reviews is my only recourse.
I will be seeking other ways to express my dissatisfaction until the rental car is taken off my credit card.
PROS: they eventually got the work done
CONS: being blackmailed into give a good evalutaion is no evaluation

Good service but hours could be longer

We have gone to this dealership for a number of regularly scheduled maintenance visits and have been very pleased. We have never had a problem making an appointment, even on relatively short notice. They do not have as good of hours as the other Volkswagen service center in town, but we have found that they are very customer service oriented and explain work that needs to be done in detail.
