My husband and I have frequented the Lex for years. Just went for the first time since the ownership changed. Prices were higher - food more ale carte than in the past. I used to get the caesar salad with my dinner. That wasn't a choice.

Yesterday a group of Senior Citizens came for lunch, part of a 'Y' day out. The menu was not sent ahead of time tho it was asked for. Bottom line........said seniors paid about $30.00 each for LUNCH. Service was bad, checks got all

I have always (25+ yrs) been a fan of the Lexington. My favorite lunch dish is "The Marine" and I always think of the Lex when I crave a seafood salad and girlfriend company. \r
The Chicken Pot Pie is excellent cold weather comfort food.

I went here for Sunday brunch with my fiance, we ordered the eggs benedict and the crab cake eggs benedict, mine was mediocre at best, my fiance didn't even finish his, and he eats everything. The prices were high and the food was disappointing. The English muffins tasted like cheap frozen muffins from the local megamart, the eggs were not properly cooked, and the sauce was bland, like it came from a jar. Save your money, go to Salut for their eggs benedict, it is to die for!

Pros: Cool facade

Cons: Awful food

I have a culinary background.

I've been to the Lexington twice now, and I would not go again. There are just too many GREAT places out there to waste a penny there.

Each time the food is over cooked, and just nasty.

My Mother likes the place, so that is the reason we dined there this weekend, but I could not see myself going there or recommend it to anyone.

I just attended a large birthday party here, with diners from 4 up to 80 years old, and everyone was extremely well cared for by the friendly and competent staff. Of course I've also dined at the "Lex" in smaller groups, and always found the food and service first rate. But the way they rose to the larger challenge really cemented their reputation, in my mind. They just know how to take care of people. Prices are reasonable for the caliber of cuisine. It may not be adventurous or exotic fare, but what they do, they do well. Highly recommended.

Pros: Dependably good dining experience.

Cons: Some may find it a little old-fashioned, I guess.

We attended two rehearsal dinners here, and were so impressed by the staff and the food, that we have scheduled our wedding reception to take place here as well. The private rooms are classic and elegant, so it will be a perfect location. Love the 40's style and music. The manager that we've been working with (Michael) has been so helpful and attentive, he's got all the details covered and is available anytime we have a question or want to make changes. Can't say enough about the service so far!

The Lexington is a very nice restaurant, with good food. The servers are appropriate for such a place - very professional and courteous. The atmosphere can be a little stuffy.

I was a freshly fledged Ph.D. when, 35 years ago, I came to Saint Paul to interview for a teaching job at Hamline U. To get to know me, the faculty took me to The Lexington, and I must say I was impressed. I got the job and moved to St. Paul. Five years later, I was watching my son perform in his very first band concert at Webster Magnet School. He was in third grade, and he had just gotten his first suit. After the concert, he told me he wanted to go eat at The Lexington. Where he got the idea, I don't know, but it was a great idea. Once more, I was impressed; however, when he ordered the pheasant, I gulped: I was just starting a business and the budget was exceedingly tight. I guess my brain must have clicked into the idea that The Lex was too expensive, because I didn't get back there until a month ago--and then I wondered why I had waited so long. The Lex serves the best crabcakes in town, terrific crispy green beans (how do they do it?), calamari, barbecue. Prices are definitely reasonable! In case you're showing off on a budget, though, here's a tip: go for lunch. The Lex is a great place for romance, business and family celebrations. Few restaurants can handle all that and still be there when you want comfort food in unstuffy elegance.

We went to the Lexington for a family gathering, 12 of us in all. We had excellent service, although a little slow. Since this was a birthday celebration and we were all visiting, this was fine with us. All of the meals were wonderful - barbecued ribs, walleye almondine, rueben sandwich, turkey dinner - as were the desserts - bread pudding, chocolate cake, cheesecake. This was a wonderful setting for a family celebration.

My girlfriend and I went here for Valentines Day, and we were very satisfied. Neither of us had heard of the place before we went, but I had gotten a tip from a coworker. We were pleased that we went here when we left. The food was excellent and fairly reasonable. The service was quick and everyone there was very friendly. The ambience of the place makes for an excellent date spot. They even had two guys playing a violin and accordian there for Valentines Day. It was great. I definitely plan on returning.

We found ourselves and two friends at a loss as to where to eat on Christmas Eve. We usually have a big family get together, but a recent wedding sent half of the family to a new family. We were lucky to get a reservation for the Lexington and what a great time we had. The crispy beans are wonderful and calamari done to perfection. I had the braised short ribs, delicious, my husband had the chicken pot pie, beautiful and very good. My son had rare Aui Tuna and it was done great. Our friends dishes were very good also. Our service was wonderful and the wine selection was very good. All in all a very nice comfortable night. Thanks for being open.

I have been the the Lexington three times, and I was impressed every time. The staff is attentive and the food is delicious. They have amazing steaks and the chocolate cake is my favorite desert. It's a little bit pricey, but the food is worth it. It's usually not very crowded either. I will definitely be going back.

Maureen is the best restaurant Manager that anyone could ask for. My wife and I had our wedding reception at The Lex. I would not be telling the truth if I said everything went off without a hitch, but Maureen the manager made everything perfect. She is a classy lady and this is a fantastic restaurant.

We had our wedding reception there. Our service was phenomenal prior to the wedding (the coordination). However, when we had our actual reception, there were a lot of problems and mix ups between the staff. The coordinator took care of them as best she could. When we wrote a letter after the reception voicing our concern for some of the issues, she immediately reimbursed us and gave us gift certificates for us to come back.

We did return and the service was above and beyond what we expected.

The Lex addressed all our concerns and responded promptly and professionally.

PROS: Great food

The Lexington has a surprising array of menu items that will not disappoint. Start your meal with their fantastic coconut shrimp, then go on to just about anything else. It's all good.

The decor is reminiscent of some rich railroad baron club. With deep dark wood work and other assorted trappings througout. I am uncertain if this means they have a dress code.
