Frenzied and frenetic come to mind when describing the new Rocco location in Edina. Have I been voted out of their demographic? I do not want to feel as if I am getting my hair done in the middle of a Target Super store - maybe that

I scheduled an appointment at the Snelling location. After reading a few of the not so good reviews I figured i'd try to give it the benefit of the doubt. When I got there I had to wait a little while so I was just observing. There was nothing personal about it. You could clearly tell they were just trying to get people in and out as quickly as possible. Nobody looked happy and the atmosphere was uninviting. I ended up leaving before I was even called up.

I have been going to Roccos in the Galleria for literally 23 years. The first people to ever touch my hair at Roccos were Richard and Rocco himself. I have seen many stylists and several color technicians over the years and I have to say that overall, I love the salon! I see Louisa for color and Erika for cuts and they are both very sweet and personable. They really listen to what I want and expect instead of doing what they want to my hair. I feel the prices are a little high, but I have gotten great service over the years and I feel like the people at the salon really make an effort to be accommodating. Just like any other service, there might be people that you click with more than others or someone that might cut or color your hair more to your liking. I would say if you went to Roccos for the first time and didn't have the best experience, I would try someone else next time. As I said, I have been going to Roccos for 25 years and anytime I have tried another salon, I always come back to Roccos. Try Erika! She is a sweetheart, really cares about her clients and does a great job!

I recently went to Rocco Altobelli in the Galleria and had the worst experience with Alex. She is meant to be one of the most senior stylists there and you pay the price but she has done an aweful job and one would consider her to be very junior since she really can make you have the worst experience. She put layers in that would not blend at all and it looks like you have two disjointed parts of hair- one really short and the other really long. I have never had such a bad experience with a hair cut. Really upsetting.

So I needed a haircut and color really really bad. My usual salon was closed that day so I happened to see this salon and it looked decent so i went in. It was really nice because I got into a chair right away. My stylist was wonderful and the results were even more amazing. My color lasted VERY long. I was actually surprised at how long it stayed in. And, the cut was just what I wanted.I can't complain about anything. All I can say is it is definitely worth the money.

I wanted to try a new color. so they made me do a treatment(which cost me money) and then never even colored it cause the colorist didn't feel comfortable. I have healthy hair, so it couldn't be cause of that.
They don't even blow dry your hair for u unless a stylist is open, but they never are for some reason. I saw the stylists standing around, but I guess they didnt care to blow dry me. We live in MN! It gets REALLY cold out! Who wants to spend that kind of money and NOT blown out?? WASTE OF MY DAY!!!! AND MONEY!!!
This salon might have been the place to go years ago, but not anymore. I am going to take my money elsewhere and I advise you to do the same!!!!!

I have been left high and dry by the last 3 stylists at the Roseville Salon. From leaving in the middle of the night to start a new salon to having a baby and never returning, I have been left without a stylist now for the third time and I think I will move on and out. The last stylist I had told me I "couldn't" have the sides of my hair cut as short as I wanted. Seriously? Who says that to a client? Explain the ramifications of destroying the perfect line, or suggest an alternative, but i "can't"? The prices have gotten insane. Since my hairstyle has not gotten any more challenging to cut why do I need a more experienced level stylist every so months at a higher rate. I can understand raising prices across the board but tying it to their skill when my hair cut remains the same makes me question it. Also the new product packaging for the shampoo is a scam. The tubes don't open easily, they slip out of your hands, the shampoo has a different texture, and the tube runs out much sooner than the old bottle did. So after 30 years or so I am looking elsewhere. It is all due to the recent stylist that took over for the last departed one and just could not cut hair, more importantly, could not listen to a client's wants. Adios.

I've been to Roccos in Edina several times, always happy with color and cut but salon looks like it hasn't been remodeled since the 80's and if you like being around fake its good. Plus I feel they have so many stylist come and go its hard to stick to just one person cause they leave the company. I switched to the Burnsville Rocco's and the customer service there is outstanding. Not only are my operators real, the front desk is friendly and everyone else smiles at you when you make eye contact with them and complements on how great my hair looks when its done. I feel at home there! I do feel as though they have been going through a lot of changes especially for the coloring, it always seems like the company is changing color manufactures. Thats kinda a pain, just when you love the color the line changes and its always close but never quite the same. If your going to try a Rocco's salon, go to Burnsville its worth the drive for the great all around service and people.

I felt like cattle at this place. My normal stylist was out with the flu and I didn't have time to reschedule with her a couple weeks down the road so I called Rocco Altobelli to see if there were openings because I had heard good things in the past from other people. What a mistake!!! Not only was the colorist running a half an hour behind, I was charged $30.00 more than I should have been because I needed an extra half bottle of color applied to my hair. I think that was terrible customer service. If I had short hair and only needed half a bottle of color they wouldn't have charged me less! It should be a flat rate for a full color. Needless to say when she put me under the steamer to wait for the color to set in she took another client and started doing her highlights while I was sitting there. I felt like I wasn't taken care of, and on top of it she never got all the color out of my hair and the drippings stained my pants and shoes. After she hurried me through a the wash, I was set back in the lobby in front of all the other people walking in and out of the salon with wet hair and was told to wait for my stylist. The stylist was nice, not overly talkative. She listened to what I had to say and did a decent job, but when it came time to actually dry and style my hair she did as she pleased and I walked out with SO MUCH product in my hair. Being that I got all over color I couldn't wash it for 24 hours. So, I was stuck with greasy dirty hair all the next day. I don't think anyone really earned the $148.00 I had to spend. I will never go back. My regular stylist is more experienced, does the whole process herself and still only charges $90.00. I felt like this salon was just a machine designed to crank people in and out instead of making them feel like they were getting a service.

What a disappoint! Just because the girls are sweet doesn't mean they do a great job with hair. I called and asked for a "low tier" person to do my coloring & cut as that is what I budgeted for. The colorist (Paris) consulted with me on what I wanted and what she would do. After she told me that she taught at the beauty school, I really felt at ease with someone new coloring my hair. She was to put in soft highlights with a few low lights. I didn't want anything drastic or color that was so bright I'd need to be back in 6 weeks for more color as my roots started showing. Well, it's been 6 weeks and my roots are screaming! I look more like Corella DeVille (101 Dalmations) with my bold streaks. So much for the soft highlights look. The cut wasn't too bad; however, I haven't been able to reproduce it since I walked out of the shop. The worst part was the price! I was totally shocked to see the bill. Coloring, alone, was $150!! I reminded the cashier that I had made my appointment with a low tier colorist so it shouldn't be that high. She said, "Oh, we couldn't schedule the cut at the same time so we gave you a higher up colorist." Thanks for letting me know. I would not recommend this place or colorist to anyone that doesn't like to be surprised with their hair or wallet.

I've lived in Minneapolis for 4 years and have been searching the whole time for a stylist that's creative and really understands what I want for a cut. I went to Rocco's in the IDS about a month ago and Annabelle gave me the best hair cut--I got so many compliments on it--and still do! Now Annabelle is no longer there--if anyone knows where she went please let me know!!

I have baby-fine, ulta straight hair that is very difficult to cut well. It shows every tiny mistake. I've been going to Maureen at the downtown Rocco Altobelli's salon for 4 or 5 years now and each haircut is absolutely perfect, whether I'm going short or long, layered or straight, adding bangs or whatever. I've also had colors done by Kennedy, which also turned out gorgeous.

I HIGHLY recommend Maureen. She's skilled, friendly, unpretentious and always listens to what you want. I pay about $50 for a haircut which is expensive, but I have the comfort of knowing I'm going to leave with a great haircut that's always exactly what I wanted.

I went for a consultation and I promised myself I wouldnt let them pressure me into something I didn.t want. After Jay and Allison told me what they think would work, I said "do you have time to do it right now?!" I've been going there for a year and I trust Jay so much I tell him I want to look hot and he does his thing. I also get my hair cut my Michelle who is really good, and I've had it cut by Annabelle too who is really precise. I leave feeling fabulous and get compliments all the time on my hair!

The minute I walked into Roca's I knew it would be a fantastic experience. Every single person who worked there, knew exactly what they were doing! Everyone from the stylists to reception, especially the lovely brunette working at reception (Andrea, i believe) just lovely. Keep up the good work gals. If you want a good experience and w new look, go to Roco's.

I chose to go to Rocco's since it's located just a few blocks from where I work downtown and is accesible via skyway. Although it was a convenient location, the overall experience was awful. I explained that I wanted just a few subtle highlights added to my medium brown hair and I ended up blonde (I was also "forgotten" under the dryer and finally decided to remove myself so my hair didn't turn platinum) ... During my shampoo, I had toxic toner splashed in my eye and my neck and head were roughly lifted and then dropped to the bowl ... I asked for just a little trim to my ends and I ended up with a bunch of very short layers ... I asked for just the stray hairs around my eyebrows to be waxed and I ended up with super thin, shapeless brows ... The staff was very unprofessional and even made rude comments about other customers still in the salon. Nobody listened to me or showed me any respect. After two hours and two hundred dollars, I literally left in tears.

Pros: again, the estheticain (sp?) was fast, friendly and helpful. brow and bikini in a half hour!

Cons: the ambiance of the salon all together is outdated. the salon needs a face lift.

I am in a hurry because in forty minutes, my boyfriend is coming in from out of town and my neglected brows are reaching Grouchian proportions. I need a brow wax. Bad.

At Rocco, an extremely tan lady applies wax to my left brow. Rip. Off goes one strip. Then another. Suddenly, she's looking at me a bit wild-eyed. Strange. But I don't think much of it. She finishes the right eye, hands me the mirror, and informs me, "a little skin lifted."

I'm not too concerned. Had this done a million times before. Initial redness is to be expected. Then I see it. A bright red, 2 inch long, raw chunk. It looks like a dog chomped me in the eyelid. It's already starting to weep. Extremely tan lady blurts, "It will heal super quick."

I don't know the definition of "super quick" but it's been four days. I just dropped my boyfriend at the airport. He's halfway back to Boston, but the bright red scab on my eyelid doesn't look like it's going anywhere.

Brow wax? $18. Neosporin? $5.29. Looking like Al Pacino in Scarface? Priceless.

Just went in for a basic cut and overall had a decent experience. Though the stylist did cut my bangs a little shorter than I had explained. I would recommend for anyone who just wants to have the basics done. Not sure how they are with coloring.

I see Tori and Kennedy - this salon is the best I have been to. I recently changed my hairstyle and I have receved many complements. Rocco Altobelli provides great service, great hours and reasonable price (comparable to other salons).

PROS: Service, Experience, Quality, Friendly staff

I have been to the Burnsville location of Rocco Altobelli twice, each with a different stylist. The location is conveniently located near Burnsville Center, and the salon itself has a good atmosphere and good customer service. Although the results turned out okay, the quality of the cut did not equate their prices and I will most likely not return for any further services.

I visit the Edina Galleria location, where Taya is my stylist. I know that I can just go in to Rocco's and say "make me look good," and they will. I used to spend lots of time getting ready for a hair appointment, weighing the options of how to describe what I wanted so I wouldn't end up with a hair disaster. Taya is fantastic though, and she's a very warm, friendly, completely non-snobby person. The downside to this salon is that you're paying for the quality of the cut/style you receive and not a spa experience (like Juut, where you're treated like a queen for half an hour but walk out with an average cut).

PROS: Fantastic, friendly stylists who will always make you look great!
CONS: Not a spa-like experience; no special treatments.

High profile salon in a high profile area with low end workers. Really disappointed by their coloring staff, went in for a tint to cover a few stray grays. Spent $70 (inc. of tip) and the colour lasted no more then five days. They can do amazing buffonts & other retro/aging styles quite well. Stylists pocket 50% of the cost paid by client plus tips and can have anywhere from five to seven customers at one time. They don't spent enough time with the customer, they don't listen to the customer, and they work on too many clients at one time. Their colorists need to be trained in client customer relationships, time management, and doing their work properly. The colourist seems to be more interested in gossiping with other stylists. Once again, high profile salon in a high profile area with low end workers.
