we were at drink on Oct 30th and it was very busy. it was around closing time and the tall skinny black bouncer was pushing an ice cart thru the crowd at a high speed. he ended up hitting my girlfriend with it forcing her to the ground.

I came here with one of my lady friends, a couple of weeks ago. Let me tell you, don't ever bring anyone here or yourself for that matter. they are one of the worst experiences I have had downtown and I have had some pretty bad nights down here. So my recommendation, DON'T!

A few friends of mine went downtown to hit a few bars and Drink was one of them. I was wearing a party top, nicer jeans, and converse shoes as my shoe supply was limited at the time. The doorman let my friends in with no problem but paused for me and said "well, for future reference no girls in sneakers". I was shocked that there was a dress code considering the fact that the place is essentially a grubby sports bar. Expensive drinks (though I wasn't there at happy hour), unfriendly staff, and obnoxious costumers. I wouldn't go again.

Pros: delicious drinks

Cons: everything else

Too many people complain. Well, If the drinks are overpriced, come when they have specials. Every time, and I mean EVERY TIME, I go to the Drink, it is fun personified. This is from someone who visits from Chicago and I enjoy myself, each and every time I go there.

Pros: People that I meet are friendly

Cons: Closes at 2

So I know a door man's job isn't exactly easy but man who says you have to be a nob job about it? After he questioned me a thousand times the bartender was no different. She was snotty and rude. I probably won't be back and suggest you don't go either.

Its a fun place, but you can tell they are very competitive. Stellas is still the best rooftop in Minneapolis. The bartenders here are kinda full of themselves and I didn't much like the crowd.

We went for some fun girlfriend dancing on a Saturday Night, we had been to another bar/club prior to this one, and showed our Military ID's and were exempted from paying the cover charge. But at Drink we showed our ID and still had to pay the cover charge. The other clientele of Drink give others no respect, or courtesy. Didn't drink at drink due to the other feed back we had heard. The dance floor was so dirty your feet stick to it, so made it difficult to actually dance.

I do feel if a bar has "Service Industry" nights and 'College ID' Nights they can exempt a Military member.

Probably won't go back.

I had a fun time at drink! I like all the windows, I think it expands the small place a bit. I don't love the crowd of people that go there, alot of young drunk college girls but had a good time! I would go there again! Fun atmosphere!

We went there on a Friday night and a friend of mine from our group was assaulted and mased by one of the bouncers. These people have absolutely no regard for the law and do whatever they please. Having witnessed the incident myself, I can say with confidence that the intersaction between the two of them did not raise to the level at which a reasonable person would feel that its necessary to attack someone with mase. I deeply regret not having filed a police report on the spot because we would have definitely sued the place for assault & battery otherwise. Unfortunately, getting him to a clean and safe place at that time took priority. This is not a good nor safe place to visit. Please go elsewhere.

This place is not a good place to go. Repeatedly they have put drinks on tabs if they think you have had a few to many cocktails. I have heard from repeated people that say they have been ruffied in this establishment and BY THE BARTENDERS..they suspect. Really Sad.

Needless to say they have a good location so you go there but really it is not worth it. Overall bad service and well the character is disgusting.

If you must go there only get drinks from a cocktailer because they are non biased and will just order your drinks...nothing more about it. less chance of anything being put in your drinks- i think.

Last Friday (3-7-08) I was going to meet some friends at Drink. I just got back over here and wasn't too familiar with downtown (new light rail, etc.), so I left a little early and beat my friends to the bar by 10-15 minutes. I wandered around a little bit and then decided to wait inside out of the cold. The bouncer refused me entry because of my military jacket. WTF?! He said that wasn't an expectable look at Drink. He claimed there was some sort of "business casual" dress code for Friday nights. They apparently have a different idea of business casual than I do, because a number of people walked out of the bar while I waited for my friends in what appeared to be jeans and a t-shirt under their coats. When my friends arrived they asked the bouncer again. He said if I took off my coat and put it in the car we could all come in. It was a least -10 ?F. I surprised he didn't just ask me to sp*t on a flag to come inside. Needless to say, we didn't. We walked across the street and had a great time at Brother's, which I highly recommend.

Went to Drink for Halloween 06 with my wife and a group of her co-workers. My wife and I went as Brittney and K-Fed. I had on some baggy jeans, a white button down shirt with a wife beater under and a yankee hat to top it off. We got in and went upstairs to the VIP area to meet up with my wife's co-workers. One of the bouncers told me to take off my hat. I was like "dude, give me a break it's halloween". The ego maniac didn't care so I took it off only to put it back on once he was gone. The same dickhead found me a little while later and told me if I didn't leave my hat off I would be kicked out. Funny how there were a bunch of chicks with baseball hats on and god knows how many other types of hats since it was HALLOWEEN and only me - a guy - was being told to take mine off. If I wasn't with a big group I probably would have gotten into a shouting match with him and been kicked out but I bit my lip until we moved on to the next bar.

Pros: ok music, good eye candy

Cons: bouncers, long lines

They declined entrance to me and my friend. We are both mexican. They told us that they had no coat check, and since we were wearing winter coats, we couldnt come in. However they were letting all the white patrons in, with their baggy winter jackets.
My friend then asked if it was because we were brown, the idiot ID checker laughed and said "of course not." I would recommend that you never go here.

SO my friends and I are from out of town and we went to visit Minneapolis for a conference. We had some time to waste and decided to check out some bars. We stumbled onto the "DRINK" because a man was soliciting free drinks to passerbys. At first we thought, why not, we should support the guy and he did a cool dance to get our attention. As we edged closer to the "Drink" , we noticed two caucasian men and as soon as they saw us, I had a feeling we would have some difficulties entering. My group consisted of 1 asian female, 1 caucasian male, 1 asian male and a black male. To my surprise, my black male friend was picked out of our crowd due to his "outfit." We all had casual winter clothing on and the only difference was my friend had a black velor warm pants and jacket on. We were not admitted in. But of course the next groups of white caucasian men as well as skanky clothless females were immediately let in.

I mean, I thought racism ended already. We're no longer in the 1950's and there shouldn't be any more discrimination. We felt dehumanized and in total disgust at how people can still hold such ignorance and expect "colored" people to tolerate such an act.

My friend was a better person because he left with the idea of rather reinforcing stereotypes, such as swearing at them, we brushed it off and moved on. AGAIN, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. People deserve to be treated fairly and "Drink" is not a place you can expect to recieve such a right.

This place is a far cry from the Uptown location. Happy hour/lunch time is OK, but the food is overpriced and so are the drinks.
At night, stay out if you are not a pedofile or a teenager. The drinks are really expensive (even their specials are not great) and it is so loud your ears ring when you leave.
No, I'm not 70 years old, but this place is not appropriate for a group of 20 somethings out to dance and have a good time. The dance floor is so crowded with crusty teens that it is impossible to move, and you stick to the floor anyway.
Go somewhere else if you want to talk to the people you are out with, and not get trampled by 18 year olds.

Drink downtown is overrated. I don't understand why people love going there. It's always way too packed, you can't even move. Half the place is filled with old, dirty creepos that belong in prison or in a nursing home. The drinks are over-priced and the music isn't that great.. There are also a lot of ugly people that go there. Overall, I wouldn't recommend Drink downtown. Drink uptown however, is better. Even though it is packed every weekend, there aren't as many old, dirty men there.

Drink! is a bar entirely devoted to young twenty somethings. I HATE this bar! It is a giant meat market, that's all it is. They often hand out passes for booze specials on the street to get even more people into a already crazy packed bar. If you are 21 and want to see lots of other crazy drunk 20 somethings, go here. If you like a classy, beautiful, timeless lounge where you can easily chat with friends or order a wonderful meal or dessert, Do NOT go here. Drink may look nice and new on the outside, but all it is is sleeze sleeze sleeze on the inside.

If you can't get a table on the roof, don't bother. It's worth the wait. But NOT downstairs (inside), where the service is awful and so is the music.

They have hourly drink specials and a fantastic happy hour upstairs as well. Much better than Stella's (avoid at all costs).

I always go to the bar Down Town and never have any problems. I then went to Uptown Drink ( was a fri night) and the staff was so rude. Not knowing that I buy botltes VIP at the DT bar where very rude to me and kicked one of my GF's out for having to loud of shoes when walking up stairs. I then went to talk to the bouncer, and apparently the "manager" was there and I spoke with him. Very rude to me. It was 11:00! Not even close to bar time,my friend had only had 2 drinks.. I will never buy VIP bottles again at either location. He did not appologize. Never again drink.Your losing your flavor in the cities as far as I am concerned.

Drink is a great place for happy hour (HH) cuz of the half price drinks, tasty flavored matini's , free finger foods and good looking younger people standing around. Downfall is it can get super crowded, shoulder to shoulder. It's hard to talk to people other than the people you are in a group with. Not a pick-up place. Dance floor is small, very small. All computerized DJ system and DJ that never plays requests. Servers are really pretty and also do a super job getting to you when you need them. Never complained about the service! I wouldnt call the bar trendy, just a bunch of young people drinking, standing around, getting their buzz going...

Very crowded, you couldn't move for nothing let alone dance. I don't recommend wearing colored contacts as I did and the door guy didn't let me in because I was wearing blue and my ID said my eyes are brown. He was very rude. Once inside, too many people and no place to sit. Bummed because the first time I went I had fun but not ever again. Don't waste your time.

this place is such a "want to be NY bar" type of place, staff is not friendly or nice. atmosphere is anything but nestolgic. if you look different, or not "dressed write" the bounce may make up dress code rules on the spot, had it happen to me once.

The drinks during happy hour are SOOOOO cheap it's worth a try. Also the buffet was more than decent and the long line moved pretty fast. The wait staff, while not particularly knowledgeable about drinks, did a fantastic job of keeping track of the tabs. One surprise was the diverse crowd. It's probably different during happy hour than later, but there were all ages and types of people. Overall a positive experience for me.

Wow, SO did not get the 70s/80s/nostalgia vibe here... actually got more of a late 90s/early 2000s vibe... because that's when I was an undergrad. I was 24 when I went a few months ago, and at merely 3 years past legal, I felt old. Guys were very generic -- striped shirts from mall chains abound! Really, just nothing special about this bar: crowded, more pretentious than it should be (though I'll give you that's not uncommon in the twin cities), kind of hotter and smokier than desired. Music very top 40, meatmarket dance floor, and that's about it.

Not too busy, Cocktails are all half price. Our server seemed confused, forgot our CC, and when asked had no suggestions for food, or drinks. Manager was very attentive to her guest. She stopped by to see how we were enjoying everything. A Very limited menu.
Just the same old bar food. It would be nice to see something different on the menu. Over, all a good place to enjoy drinks after work.

Not the place to go for happy hour if you are trying to hear what your friends are saying. Thought it would be our next favorite hangout from the outside view, but once inside. . . we had to defend ourselves to the staff for using 3 of their small tables to seat 6 of us, the music was so loud we couldn't hear each other and worse - the "DJ" had no clue how to play crowd pleasing tunes. Service? What service. The place was not crowded, everyone had a table - why couldn't the waiters see us and our empty glasses. Tried to order at the bar - got a drink from a bartender who appeared to hate his job. Maybe they were all having a rough day?

I've been to many of the bars in downtown for happy hour after work and there is no better happy hour then at Drink. The 1/2 prices on ALL drinks and the free food, which they keep filled, is the best deal around. Throw in a fun afterwork crowd and you have one of the best happy hour bars around!

By the scantily clad college-age crowd dancing in the overly crowed bar you would think this is a dance club. However, the televisions showing sports gave it a different feel. Definately for the 22 & under crowd. The atmosphere is definately a change from the Pickled Parrot.

Drink has an identity crisis. The worst one I've seen in the Cities. The first thing one might notice are the numerous flat screens throughout (have fun replacing those in a year after you get dead spots and burn-in from the ads running across the screen.) playing sports. It's a sports bar! Then you might notice the cinema paraphernalia and photos about. It's a film theme! Then you might notice that there are intellibeams and a DJ booth, the velvet rope being put out outside and that people are moving cocktail tables to make room for dancing. It's a dance club! Then you might notice the loft with comfy seating. It's a lounge! In trying to be all things, Drink fails at being any of them. Plus the drinks are weak and beer expensive. To be fair though, this is the only bar that caters directly to the confused.

Pros: They serve alcohol

This place has some beautiful elements: the bar, the staff, and a lovely and engaging bartender. Also, the 2 for 1 special was a boon.

Alas, the place does not yet serve ANY food, which was a bummer. Moreover, during the Third Period of Game 7 of the Wild-Avalanche playoff series, the manager refused to deliver any audio, which is a horrendous waste of the fabulous televisions in this place.

Cons: No Food, Anti-Wild, Corporate

This place rocks! It's just like the one in Las Vegas. I've never seen so many tube tops and J-Lo inspired hats. Plus, they have a two for one sex on the beach drink special every Thursday night. I don't know what all of those other reviewers were talking about when they described Drink as "uninspired or featureless" or "the latest tired franchise bar to hit the First Avenue circuit". My suggestion for all of the hipsters out there: a bar crawl starting with Hard Rock, then onto Brothers, Champs and wind down with Drink. I know where I'll be with my tube top next Thursday.

The Drink staff were very rude and like other comments "hardasses". They insisted we leave the premises while standing on the Minneapolis public sidewalk. Based on the sub-par service I will not return.

This place charges a cover, and they don't have bands so I'm not sure what it's for. Their bouncers are rude, provide bad service, and act like hardasses. A bottle of bud or miller costs $5. They don't have any specials. They don't serve food. Other than these factors, the place is OK.

My coworkers and I tried the Drink on Friday evening. We ordered drinks and went upstairs. We were rudely accused of being troublemakers when we politely asked a patron if an empty chair near her was occupied by her group. Immediately, my coworker was approached by her group members and a waitress flagged down the bouncer attempting to kick us out and to let us know that it was a "privilege" to be upstairs. This was innappropriate service when we were simply being polite in order to not cause conflict. We were asked to move away from them as if we were bothering them. We stayed for only a little while longer until our friend was not allowed back upstairs after he went downstairs to the restroom. We immediately left and took our business to a neighboring bar that does not charge a cover to be disrespected.
