I took my 2 dogs here a few years ago as I was on my honeymoon in Hawaii.
Owner "Karen" was rude, and seemed bothered that I'd call and check on my dogs.
Said "quit calling and enjoy your a vacation"
When I went to pick up dogs wanted payment first, then brought my dog's one or them was seriously I'll and in need of vetrenary assistance. She acted completely unreasonable when I asked what was wrong with my dog ! Said get out I'm calling the cops! ?
She was denied payment by my CC company- but she then said she was going top sue me for slander -?
Well, looks like the "attitude" has cought up with them and shows their true colors. I'd never bring my dog there EVER again.
I ended up bringing him to emergency !

My dog was there for two days and as soon as he got home he started explosive diarahea for over 5 days. It's believed that he had some sort of parasite, this place is not safe for dogs.

Hi i just wanted to say I have been using Hound Dog for years! The staff is great! The facility is great! These days it even seems better than ever. I have never had a complaint. My dog always comes home after daycare happy and tired. The way I would expect her to after playing all day. It is a godsend when I work all day and don't have the time to get in the playtime she needs in. I recommend Hound Dog to all my friends and definately to anyone reading my posting. Can't go by what anyone says though you have to just give it a try and you will see. You and your dog will be satisfied! The front desk staff is really nice and professional, just a few I have dealt with are Matt, Tiffany and Danielle. I have had no problems with the way they do business. Just give them a try you will see...

Listen, last I knew NO ANIMAL can speak and be understood through the human language. Comments about ?why didn?t they notice? and the like doesn?t hold much water for me, animals can?t speak and tell people they are not feeling well.

I guess having different staff work around and the pets throughout the day would be normal?.can you imagine being around all those dogs barking and playing all day? I can?t, most people take if for granted there is this king of facility. How many hours do you spend playing with your animals? Maybe an hour at the most on average? These folks are with them ALL day? Come on!!

Hey, for those who don?t have kids here is something for you, they get sick! And guess what, they can get sick at the very daycare centers you may take them. Does that mean yank them out every time they get sick and complain about the center you brought them? Come on!!

As with any disease, there are incubation time frames, bacterial growth rates as well as other biological signs that are missed not only in animals but humans too. I would pose the following question: Did any other pets get sick at the same time frame your dogs were there? I don?t see any other reviews indicating an epidemic or mass illnesses at the facility, so why are your TWO dogs so special that they were the only ones to get sick?

As with anything, those who feel wronged will undoubtedly complain more than those who feel righted.

Our pets have been going to Hound Dog for years and have NO ILLNESSES. The staff is generally very friendly but come-on?..stop being a child?.everyone has bad days and can be grumpy and if you are so narrow sighted you cant notice that, maybe that?s why so many people feel so wronged they need to take out their shortcomings on others.

As far as were concerned, Hound Dog is great and will continue to recommend to anyone who asks, we believe in the service. Our kids will continue to go to their daycare center even after getting sick there. But it may not work for everyone because we have common sense and not everyone does!!

I had recently brought my 2 dogs (ages 2 1/2 and 7 mo) to the Hound Dog Hotel for 7 days. When we returned from our vacation, we picked them up as soon as they opened at 7am. About an hour after that I noticed that my dog were both having trouble breathing, coughing, and had thick, green snot coming from their noses. I called our vet and they told us to bring them in right away. Both of our dogs ended up having upper respiratory infections. A couple hundred dollars later, we started them on antibiotics. Two days later, my oldest dog started to have trouble breathing. We had to bring her to the emergency hospital for care. She was on the verge of pneumonia.

We spent plenty of money for accurate care for our dogs. We called them just about every day to check on our babies. We thought everything was fine. At least that was what they told us even the day we picked them up. Our vet stated that they had to have had this sickness for at a couple days to be this bad. When we called the pet hotel, there was not a care for how our dogs had been received.

Why wouldn't they have called us if they noticed a sickness? How could they have not noticed my dogs were hacking up a lung and excreting neon green ooze out of their noses? Were they not paying close attention to the care of my dogs?
We spent double what we should have for the hotel and veterinary costs. No wonder they have a waiver to sign away the possible care and life of your dogs.

DO NOT bring your dog here if you expect quality attention and care. You will end up spending more than you bargained for. Your dogs are more important than that!!!

I have two dogs that I board there. One became sick wit Bloat while I was out of the country. The staff caught it, rushed my dog to the emergency vet (it was a Saturday) and their quick actions saved him. After surgery, the HDH cared for him until I returned. I called in daily to speak with staff who were extremely attentive and handled all of his special care and medication. My dogs have stayed there several times and always receive great care. Had they not paid unique attention to each dog, they would have never caught the Bloat symptoms and my dog would have died. This is a well run kennel that has wonderful and attentive staff. I highly recommend them and am grateful to them for their care and love of the animals.

I AM HERE TO SAY THAT THE STAFF IS VERY FRIENDLY AND KNOWS WHAT GOES ON WITH MY PET!! I WAS READING REVIEWS ON HERE AND WAS LIKE WOW BECAUSE ALL THE EXPERIANCES I HAVE HAD WITH HOUND DOG HAS BEEN GREAT! I HAVE RECOMMENDED ALL MY FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS TO THEM AND THEY TOO HAVE NOT HAD A SINGLE PROBLEM! I BOARD MY DOG THERE QUITE ALOT AND THEY ALWAYS KNOW HOW HE IS DOING WHEN I CALL TO CHECK UP ON HIM. WHEN I PICK HIM UP HE ACTS THE WAY HE DID WHEN I BROUGHT HIM THERE JUST HAPPY AND HIMSELF! AS YOU READ IN THE PAPERWORK AFTER BOARDING THEY MAY NOT BE THEMSELVES AS WOULD YOU AFTER BEING AWAY FROM YOUR PARENTS WHEN YOU WERE KIDS? THEY TREAT EACH DOG AS AN INDIVIDUAL PERSON AND ALL SEEM TO KNOW THEM! I CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT THE STAFF IS VERY FRIENDLY AND ALWAYS THERE FOR MY DOG! HE GOES THERE 5 TIMES A WEEK FOR DAYCARE AND IS ALWAYS EXCITED TO GO THERE!! HE FALLS ASLEEP ON THE RIDE HOME EVEN FROM BEING SO POOPED OUT FROM PLAYING ALL DAY! I HAVE NEVER SEEN OR HEARD OF BAD THINGS OF HOUND DOG... IT IS A VERY CLEAN AND WELL KEPT PLACE. I RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO EVERYONE! THE PAST IS THE PAST ON WHO OWNED WHAT AND WHATEVER. I HAVE NOT SEEN ANY CHANGES IN THE PLACE SINCE KAREN LEFT, ALL IS STILL GOOD. ALL I SEE WHEN I WALK IN THE DOOR IS SMILES AND PEOPLE THAT ENJOY THEIR JOBS GREATLY! YOU CANT BELIEVE ALL THE NEGATIVE STUFF ON HERE CONSIDERING AS YOU READ THEM YOU CAN TELL IT WAS AN OLD EMPLOYEE OR SOMEONE THAT DID NOT GET ALONG WITH KAREN... YOU CANT GO BY THAT CHECK IT OUT YOURSELF AND YOU WILL SEE ALL IS GOOD!!! I TOTALLY RECOMMEND HOUND DOG PET HOTEL & SPA!!!!!!!!!

I have been using the Hound Dog Pet Hotel for many years now , and have been very pleased Im also friends with the owners ,Karen and David . they are both passionate about their pets and ,mostly of the Hound Dog , like many of the entries stating weve been bring our dog here for years loving everthing about it , You just cant believe the 18 months of entries , many are made up from Melissa the daughter of David , she responds evertime she gets a bad review , these are all made up , so you think Karen was not so good , and now the staff is great ,.The only reason why Karen is not there is because her and David had a long term relationship , and also a partnership in the company together ,It isnt beacuse of the made up comments about how mean she was , these just dont make any sense , She has had over 5000 apts in 6 years and only a few {truley }bad reviews , but dont believe any that say now shes gone and lthe staff is great ,Karen and David are still the owners , and still cherish all the pets , I know Karen personally misses all the clients she grew to know all so well ...

I used to take my dogs to another kennel in the area (not going to be negative or name drop but it was BAD) but I have been taking them to the Hound Dog for the last two and a half years. I have never had a problem with the staff or the care. Actually, they have gone the extra mile more than once for my girls. The dogs go to daycare there three days a week and they come home tired every day. You don't know what a Godsend that is! I can actually enjoy my dogs without chaos! The girls in the front office even called me after one of my dogs had surgery (ate a sock...very expensive) just to see how she was doing. These are really nice people and you can tell that they really care about dogs. When my girls stayed there over Thanksgiving last year they actually WASHED their bed and returned it to me better than I dropped it off. I had one bad experience with the lady that used to be the manager, but she isn't there anymore I guess. Matt is the new manager and he is really a dog person. My suggestion to anybody new to boarding is to go there and check them out for yourself. I did and I was sold. Remember, dogs will be dogs and things will happen no matter where you take them. I'd trust the people there with my girls any time and that says A LOT!!! I hope this helps.

I was surprised to read the other review. My experience has been the opposite. My dog started with Hound Dog Pet Hotel shortly after it started. Our dog has always been happy to go with the staff and was in good health and spirits when we picked her up. She has never gotten ill and has been clean when we picked her up. We use Hound Dog two to three times a year for a week stay. Her last stay was in November of 2007. I recommend them to our friends.

We have boarded our beagle here four times. We toured the facilities before we ever left her here, and thought it seemed like a nice place. Our dog seemed happy and healthy after her first stay here, and so we were happy, but it went downhill from there.

The second time she stayed here was when we had to leave town on short notice for a funeral. My wife picked her up, and I returned the following day. Our dog and her things smelled of urine and I called to register a complaint with them. The owner was extremely defensive, to the point of being rude. She claimed that she had been holding our dog on her lap when my wife picked her up, because my wife was running late, that she did not smell then, and that she probably urinated in her crate on the way home, or overnight, because they can be a little "off" after boarding. I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt, and called back to apologize for jumping to conclusions. My wife said she didn't notice the smell the night she picked our dog up, because she was so congested, and that they had to go in back to get her when she got there.

At the end of March, 2007, we again left our beagle here for the weekend. After we got her back, she was a very sick dog. She had diarrhea and was vomiting. After a $72 vet bill and a couple more days, she was mostly back to normal. After our vet told us that they had had several other cases that week who had also boarded there dogs here, we called to let the HDPH know, at our vet's suggestion. I left a message with the person working the desk, and never heard anything back from the owner.

The last time we boarded our dog here was late April. This time she was not only very sick, but seemed like a different dog. She would not eat, and our normally very active dog would only leave her bed to eliminate. This was not the normal exhaustion from lots of playing with other dogs. It went on for days. Additionally, she was constantly scared, acting the way that recently rescued dogs do. Her tail was constantly between her legs, and she was shaking a lot. We took her to the vet again, and she was extremely dehydrated. They ran tests, gave her medication, and a water bag under the skin, for a bill almost as much as the week long boarding cost. It took her a couple more days before she started getting better, and more than a week of love and attention before she was back to her old self.

Today our vet insinuated that the have heard several other complaints recently, which is what prompted me to post this review. We had already decided not to board our dog here again, but would like to warn others of our experiences.
