I was able to get a professionally built deck on a small budget. Steve and his crew helped me build my deck using his Partner Program. I saved money on materials and by working one weekend had a quality frame for me to finish the decking and railing. I enjoyed working with them to get my project done. I have recommended to my friends and family.

Pros: Was able to work on crew and have pride of building myself

★☆☆☆☆

Steve built a deck frame for me in June 2007, but never paid The Deck Store in Apple Valley for the material. We paid him in full in July 2007, only to have a lein placed on our house in September 2007 by the Deck Store for not paying for the material which we paid Steve for in July. We then had to pay The Deck Store a second time for the materials and lawyer fees to file to get our money back from some Construction fund which we are still waiting on in March 2009. I would stay far away from Steve, QCL-LLC or whatever name he is listed under. You can view his letter at WWW.QCL-LLC NET. It is what he mailed me after he said he would make everything right. We are still waiting.

Pros: Not worth the hassle

Cons: He never paid the hardware provider

★★★★☆

Quality Construction, QCL, built my deck also during the time they had challenges. I got the same letter also and got the paperwork from the state a few weeks later. Steve really came through during this time. He was apologetic and even met me to sign the consent paper so I could submit them before the year end deadline. I didn't even have to hire a lawyer to deal with this. I was paid in the first round of recovery. I am happy with my deck still today. I appreciated him standing behind his company and helping me get my money back from the state.

I would hire them again to do more work for me. I like the new business model Steve has when he opened his new business. I buy all my own materials and don't pay any markups plus I can help him and his crew and it will save me money.

Steve & his crew helped me build a deck and remodel my porch. They were very professional and did a great job. We love our new deck.

Pros: Professional and prompt

Cons: None

★☆☆☆☆

This company contracted out a group of guys to build the frame on our deck which we had to have re-done due to poor craftsmanship. After the deck was completed, QCL posted the picture on his website claiming it was a deck they built. After our deck was built in June, we received a letter from QCL in September stating times are tough which is posted at www.qcl-llc(dot)net. Also, keep in mind that QCL was paid in full in July for time and materials, but failed to pay the supplier at the Deck Store in Apple Valley, MN. We had to remove the lien from our house. We are still going through the process of getting our money back from the state after almost a year later. Run from Steve Olson and his company.

Pros: None

Cons: He feels he has done nothing wrong.

★☆☆☆☆

This contractor does not pay his suppliers though I paid him in full, and a lien has been filed against my house by one of his suppliers. Stay away.

Pros: Job was completed

Cons: Takes your money without paying suppliers
