Good Doctor, Super Long Wait Times
by E V.
I don't disagree with reviewers that Dr. Crutchfield is a good doctor who knows what he is doing. Unlike some other doctors, he won't beat around the bush in prescribing medication that will help treat your skin issue. I personally go see him for acne; and rather than do what countless other doctors had done before and prescribe Retin-A, he listened to my acne and medication history and immediately said "Let's go more aggressive with accutane since topical medication does not appear to be working".
My dissatisfaction with his practice stems from the extremely long wait times that his patients are forced to endure. I have personal experience with his practice from when he first started to what it has developed to now, and I can definitely say that before his clientele and services (e.g. medispa) expanded, you would not have to wait more than 30 minutes during peak appt. times. I just had an appointment on Nov. 12 at 4 pm, showed up at 3:50 pm, and didn't even see the doctor until 5:15 pm. My appt. was simply for a routine accutane blood test and prescription refill that at most takes 15 minutes to perform if you have had no serious reaction to the medication or bad test results. There were at least 20 other people in the waiting area with me, some having waited much longer than I did.
It seems like his staff/he himself prefers to push a lot of the medical related appts. into the 3-6 pm range rather than smoothing them out throughout the day. I have been to his office at other times of the day (e.g. 8/10 am) and have found the wait times much more reasonable. However, I have also noticed that its during the day time hours that a lot of the medispa procedures are performed. I can't say whether it's simply a fluke of people's scheduling preferences that makes it seem like everyone with medical related appts. end up in the afternoon slots, or if it's a business decision, but I do have to wonder if Crutchfield Dermatology is starting to focus more on medispa procedures than medical appts. From a business perspective, who would you rather serve more, someone paying you $2,000 to fill their face with beauty fillers or a $400 acne appt. that the insurer forces you to take a discount on.
My advice for new patients would be to give Dr. Crutchfield a try and see if you personally think his services and expertise for your skin condition/issue is worth 1 hr plus wait times and having to book appts months in advance due to his having to split time between medispa and medical appts. I personally am with him because he had records of my past positive experience with accutane and it was less of a hassle to get on accutane again with the same doctor than trying to find someone new.
In response to another reviewer's comment that he zips in and out of his appt. with you, it's partially true. His doctoring style is very much a I want to be as efficient as possible. If you ask him questions he'll answer them, but beyond the usual how's it going any concerns stuff, he won't sit there and try to be your best friend.

Dr. Crutchfield is an expert!
by Paul C.
Dr. Crutchfield's bedside manner is impeccable. He treats every patient like they are important and valuable. I highly recommend him to anyone that is looking for awesome skin care. Besides having patents on skin care technology he's been in all kinds of magazines and even is referenced in the Skin Atlas book that you can buy on Amazon.

Crutchfield Dermatology is Awesome
by evelyn s.
I am 72 years old. I've had skin problems since I was a little girl. I remember taking the whole day to drive to the Mayo Clinic for a skin appointment. I've been going to Crutchfield dermatology for 7 years now and I've never had anything but a truly wonderful experience.
My skin looks beautiful and feels better than ever. His nurses are the best and nicest I've ever met. Dr. Crutchfield answers all my questions and makes sure I am comfortable with the treatment plan he gives me. I wore a dress (showing my legs) with short sleeves to my granddaughters wedding this summer and felt better about myself than anytime in my whole life. It took 72 years for that to happen. He has helped my husband, daughter-in-law and 3 grandchildren. His father, the other Dr. Crutchfield delivered 6 of my 9 grandchildren.
I honestly thank God for Dr. Crutchfield, his treatments have been life changing for me.
Don't let someone scare you about waiting a few minutes to get clear skin that you've waited years for. I've been to his office at least a dozen times in 7 years and sometimes I have had to wait a bit, but never very long and to have the best skin of my life, it is worth it.
Each and every time I've seen him he always asks me before he finishes" is there anything else I can do for you?"
I'll bet he will do the same for you. Dr. Crutchfield is the best and nicest doctor I have met in my life. Don't miss the chance to see one of the greatest doctors ever. May God bless you.

Crutchfield Dermatology is not worth it!
by Kim V.
I was not impressed with Crutchfield Dermatology. It takes a long time to get in to see the doctor. When you finally get an appointment, you wait in the waiting room for a very long time. Sometimes up to an hour and a half. After waiting in the waiting room, you are sent to an exam room where you wait some more. An appointment at Crutchfield Dermatology takes about a half a day. Be prepared and bring something to do while you wait.
Come prepared before you meet with the doctor. You will have very little time to ask questions as he comes in the door, looks you over, and leaves again very quickly. I honestly believe he is more interested in getting great before and after photos for his website than actually seeing you recover from what is ailing you.
I do not recommend going to Crutchfield Dermatology. Your time is more important than this!

I had psoriasis for quite a long time. I had tried lot of dermetalogist but finally went to Crutchfield. Since then my psoriasis has been kept under control. Dr. Crutchfield is wiling to try more aggressive measures. They are open at night and weekends for light treatments. He also does some customization as per ur need. His staff is also very friendly easily approachable.
PROS: aggressive approach and friendly staff
CONS: there's only one location/doctor
