First of all, sauna rhymes with HOW-nah, definately NOT pronounced "SAW-nah". This is Finlander country, and them's fightin' words.

Nothing better than hitting the sauna after a day or a week in the woods. Give the guy $4, maybe $5 now, get two clean white towels from the pile and head upstairs to the dressing room. Grab a bucket from the shower room, rinse off the top bench and sit in the heat, feel the steam hit you and let the sweat roll down your face. If you are sitting by the valve and one of the old-timers says "Hit da heat", you'd better pop the valve quick, spraying more cold water onto the heater, and sending another wave of steam rolling forward.

When you've had enough, take a cold shower, dry off and sit in the dressing room to cool off with a Grain Belt that you just happened to leave in your jacket pocket.

They also have private family rooms for mom, dad and the kids.

When you are next in Ely - you HAVE to stop in to the Ely Steam Bath - or as some would say "Da Heely Team Bat"
