I've been living here in Lake Cove Village now for a year. I can't go one enough about how much I love it here. I've read a few of the other reviews and I don't see what their issue is. Any minor thing that I've had an issue with over the past year has been met with a very professional attitude. They were handled most promptly! I love everything about this place! The floor plan. The staff. The convenient location to EVERYTHING! I can't imagine living anywhere else! I don't think I'll ever move! My kids LOVE it here too with all the play areas available and the pool! I think I've put more exclamation marks in this post than I have in anything else! The grounds are peaceful. I did have a noise issue with my upstairs neighbors but they moved out or were asked to leave. (I like to think it was the latter...lol) I have new neighbors upstairs and in the 3 months they've been living here, not once have I had a single issue with noise. I will continue to sing the praises of Lake Cove Village til I can buy a house! 5345 FTW!

I miss my friends/ neighbors at lake cove village.. nose level can be a bit nosy on weekends, but that happens everywhere. had my car broken into but again that happens everywhere..

I loved the Maintence staff quick and fixed things right away.

Tara and the other staff rocked and new me and the kids by name.

Pool was a bit warm to use during the summer months. but bathrooms were always clean.

Love the neighborhood get together each yr as did my kids.

If my rent had not gone up and my child support didnt drop, I would still be living in my 3 bedroom 2 bath apartment.. I completely miss my neighbors in building 3450!!!

I lived in Lake Cove for 3 years. Paid all of my rent on time (which is rather impressive looking at the scum that dwelled around me in the 3 years I lived there), yet I was still treated with disresprect from the office staff. If I had problems with other tenants and noise issues, the community director refused to address them with me. Futhermore, upon moving out, I was treated with such disrespect by the office staff that I felt compelled to call spectrum properties directly to complain. It seems at Lake Cove they are always interested in luring in new tenants, but very DISinterested in keeping the existing tenants pleased. It is a serivce industry and yet, they refuse to keep the service appealing to established customers. While moving out I requested that the community director check out the apartment before turing in my keys. While she was under no obligation to do so, she did. However, she said everything looked perfect and that I should expect my deposit back in less than a month. Much to my dismay, I receive a BILL in less than a month. Somehow, my $5OO deposit had been eaten up by cigarette butts found on a patio (min you that I am a non-smoker) and a few nail holes in the wall, followed by a dirty window cill. Are you serious??????? Parking is impossible. Lugging groceries is no fun in that ghetto. At least half a dozen times I was nearly mugged of my fruit snacks by a band of wild, unparented preteens. If you are simply looking for shelter Lake Cove will do the trick. If you want a home, look elsewhere.

Pros: Cheap Price

Cons: Cheap Look, Awful management staff, Parking is rediculous

I'll go over some important points some don't think to ask about.

Parking - is a joke. They'll make you get a permit when you move in for $30, but anyone else can park in the lots for free for any length of time, it seems. Many times I have to park one or two apartment buildings down to find an open spot. The staff doesn't seem to care about this issue, the numerous times I brought it up to them.

The staff is friendly when you don't have a problem with anything. Most requests get ignored or get swept under the rug, it seems. But enjoy those free cookies during the holidays!

Condition of Apt. - I moved into a unit that was recently renovated. Nice cabinets & appliances. New carpeting was great, too. I really do love the unit I am in.

Noise - Oh boy...every little sound seems to carry through the walls, the ceilings, and the door to the hallway. When I was viewing the apartments, I thought it was neat how everyone's doors opened to the central pentagon-shaped common area. Wish I had known how loud sound carries. Even ordinary things like shutting a door, or a normal-voiced conversation carry into other's apartments. Trying to watch TV or a movie in the living room area is nearly an impossibility with all the outside sound, or someone blasting their music, rattling the walls with the bass. However, the noise is pretty much done before 10 PM, and you can always call the police for a noise complaint if it continues.

Overall - I gave it a 3 out of 5. Rent is insanely cheap. A 1 BR 1BA is listed at $719, but if you're a first-time renter here, they'll knock it down to $619, which for the square footage, is an incredible deal. Rent goes up $40 a year after that. But, the issues with the staff, parking, and noise drag the rating down to a 3. Renting here really depends on what you're willing to put up with vs. the low costs. I'll probably stay here another year, and then look into buying a house with my fiancee.

Pros: Cheap rent, close to downtown St. Paul

Cons: Parking, Noise, Office Staff

.

I concur with the other review. The staff does not care about the tenants. Many request for service go unanswered. They do not go out of their way to help.

I have lived in this community for quite some time.
Decent neighborhood, competitive rent, and good location. However, if you are looking for an attentive staff you may want to look elsewhere. Maintenance requests are often ignored. Upkeep of premise could be much better as well. Office staff is snotty! Only about 10% of residents have a lake view, but that's how it goes. $1000 lease break fee(1yr).
