Dr. Scanlan and everyone at the Otter Lake clinic are wonderful. I've learned things about dog health that hadn't known. I originally came to Dr. Scanlan through MN Boxer Rescue as a foster-mom. His knowledge and care so impressed me, that I brought my own dogs to him-despite the much greater distance than my former vet in St. Paul. I have recommended him to friends and family. Recently, my son had his cat spayed there, and was very surprised at the low cost.

I have gone to Dr. Scanlon for over 20 years. He is the best you can fined. Honest and a great Vet. I would not trust anyone else to treat my show dogs.

My dog was not the only that Dr Scalan harmed - http://mn.gov/health-licensing-boards/images/ScanlanW_2%252E6%252E13.pdf

Dr Scanlon performed 2 cruciate repairs on my dogs knee. For the first surgery in her medical notes it states her Caudal Cruciate Ligament (PCL) was torn and removed along with her Cranial Cruciate Ligament (ACL). For the 2nd surgery he reported that a portion of her meniscus was removed (I was unable to read his writing). At 5 months post op she started having problems again with her knee. Dr Scanlon recommended a 3rd exploratory surgery, so instead I brought her for a 2nd opinion with Dr Stephen Levine an orthopedic specialist. He found her knee was completely unstable. So did a 3rd repair. Dr Levine was surprised to find her PCL was completely intact and perfectly normal. He also found that the portion of the meniscus that was suppose to be removed was still intact and completley crushed.

Since Dr Scanlons medical notes were grossly inaccurate not even explaining what was going on with my dog. I do not and would not let him touch any of my animals ever again. If he can not keep his medical records straight to the point that he is saying he removed the body parts that he did not it makes me concerned that he is makeing other bigger mistakes. I consider this one huge. I'm not really concerned about my dog but I'm concerned about the other dog who's PCL was removed. Now if that dog every has problems with its knee it will lead Dr Scanlon or any other vet down the wrong path to helping it. I'm very disappointed in Dr Scanlon, keeping proper medical records is the most basic and most important function of veterinary medicine

Dr. Scanlan and his wonderful staff are professional, caring and knowledgeable. I wrote on a Boxer internet forum and asked where to take a Boxer for good vet care. I received a reply from a lady in northern Minnesota who came all the way down to Otter Lake Animal Hospital because she thought this clinic was the best, I agree, it is the best. Dr. Scanlon saved my dog's life in a very long emergency surgery and I will forever be grateful.

Dr. Scanlan is an amazing vet. He's incredibly knowledgeable and caring. He also has the best veterinary knowledge of the Boxer breed of any vet I have encountered. The facility is extremely clean and the entire staff is outstanding. I would highly recommend this clinic.

We love Otter Lake Animal Care! Our many pets which include a dog, 2 cats and a guinea pig, love the staff. We have used their vet services, grooming and boarding. The facility is clean. Molly is the best :-)

We have brought out dogs here for the past 15 years. We have used their boarding, grooming, and vet services. They have a clean facility and have good prices for all services and products.

We actually have used Otter Lake Animal Care Center for their boarding services. We don't want just anyone watching our dogs when we are out of town, and we feel very comfortable leaving them here. The prices are a little lower than other kennels that we have researched. Definately worth checking into next time you need to leave your pet.
