Loring Pasta Bar

This is a unique restaurant serving interesting and delicious food. The decor is eclectic and aesthetically pleasing. As a vegetarian, you have good choices here. Great pasta and salads are usually my choice. The artichoke dip is excellent. It's not cheap but not hideously expensive either. Located in the Dinkytown (U of M) neighborhood, it is by far the nicest restaurant in the area. I don't eat here frequently, but it is always a pleasant treat when I do.

After dozens of visits to the Loring Pasta Bar, I have mixed feelings on it.

I love the creative ambiance, the lighting, decor, and the bathrooms. The food is good, not great.

The real problem lies in the service. It has been really bad on several occasions. By this I mean waiting 20 mins to get visited by your wait staff after getting seated, waiting for drink refills, waiting for your check. I guess even the staff are awestruck by the environment and forget that they are still on the clock.

PROS: creative decor, nice use of space, good food
CONS: service is slow sometimes

Highly recommend this place! This restaurant has a great ambiance. You'll also have to check out their restrooms.. very unique. The food tastes great. The food isn't too experience, and they do have a lunch special.
