Location is NOT worth the hassle of the management, apartment condition, etc. of this apartment.

Pros: Location

Cons: Everything Else

.

Pros: Affordable, close to the best lake ever, close to Calhoun square, cool bars, Lunds, good food places, fun entertainment: theatres, street fairs, etc.. My place is small and I liked it that way. I dont have any problems with the neighbors and noise. Met a few cool handsome and cute neighbors but most keep to themselves (too bad). Fun living.

Cons: Like most Mpls building the building looks ugly, boxy and ugly again. At least its brick, I guess. They raised the rents really high this time around. They tow your car if you dont move it when they plow. So if you happen to be on a trip during the day when they want to plow - even if there is no heavy snow fall - you are screwed. (Most units are single bedrooms, so no rommates to do that for you). I left my clothes for too long in the dryer once and they were stolen - I think its not the residents since I have left my stuff overnight more than a couple of times before, must have been some others who came in. Good thing its more secure now that they changed the door locks. The original poster is partly wrong - you can use a celphone for the door but only if the number starts with 612. New management removed the apartment managers on site, which is not good. Not sure how it is now but it used to be so expensive to have the apartment manager open your room for you ($30 a pop to walk down a flight of stairs and open the door, plus $20 for the key of you lost it) So I guess if its cheaper to get help by moving them managers out, it might be a wash. One really cute tenant who I spoke with on a semi-regular basis had his car window busted one time.

All in all, I like this place because of the location. I dont really stay in my place for too long. I go to work and go out at night. I dont really try to socialize with the neighbors and I dont really want to socialize with landlords so their personalities dont bother me.

Pros: Location, Cuties, Cost

Cons: Property Mangement, Snow Removal Rules, Nasty Land Lady who knocks on your door and doesnt know how to smile

I lived at Irving Place Apartments managed by Asset Management Group for 8 long months. Here is my review of the place. The place was affordable, the caretakers are kind, and the proximity to the lake was nice. That?s the pros. Here are the cons. The caretakers are overworked and not available by phone most of the time. The phone door system doesn?t work with cell phones. This was something that I was told Asset Management Group won?t fix. So if you are getting anything delivered you have to make other arrangements to pick it up. You also have to let anyone in at the door. The snow removal only came one time, on time, this whole winter leaving the parking lot a mess. People park in your paid parking spot all the time. There is no smoking in the building so people go outside and make a lot of noise. They also don?t seem to know how to use the butt container that?s out there. The common areas are in need of cleaning not just vacuuming. My Irving Place Apartment had burns in the carpet and the whole apartment was filthy when I moved in. The toilet didn?t flush. The faucet in the bathroom still constantly drips, even after it was ?fixed?. The cupboard space in the kitchen is less than adequate and the drawers are small. Asset Management Group is impossible to work with and want to squeeze every penny out of you. This is more a party place. People are noisy and disrespectful leaving their garbage in the stairwells and halls. The windows are in bad need of upgrading. Water damage is seen on the window frames and down the walls. The window blinds move from the wind even when the storm and inside windows are shut. I had a great run-in with a tenant last night. She asked if she could buy a 12pack through me because the liquor store wouldn?t deliver to her. That?s not Irving Place Apartment?s fault, but it is a good example of what you live around. I would not recommend Irving Place Apartments or any place managed by Asset Management Group to anyone.
