Yes there is Mecca, but in the world of Italian food I bring my rug out and bow to Butler Square daily. Best tip is to sit at the bar and let the wait staff deliver the potent cocktail of great people, food, and ambience on you. Splitting the tasting menu is the best value in the Twin Cities. You can never go wrong here. Great Italian wine, (take a cab if you are sharing the wine flights), wonderful thin crust pizza and the lobster still amazing after all these years. Bar seating is twice as fun because you get to know the heart of the restaurant, Taco, Junior, Dan and the like. They make you feel like you have come home and that house has flawless food. We love you guys.

Pros: Want to go to Tuscany?

Cons: it only lasts for about two hours

Without reservation, this is the best restaurant in town. The service is prompt, friendly and answered all of my questions. The food was AMAZING. I recommend the lobster gnocchi for a meal and the pizza/flatbread appetizer. The ambience is classic comfortable. The piano music on the weekend provides an added romantic/entertaining ambience.

I would go to D'amica Cucina every weekend if I could afford it.

Recently dined here on a weekday. Did not need the reservation. Bar area very comforatable, with nice lounge chairs and a grand piano. Live music on weekends. Menu very diverse and very Italian. The Artic Char was fantastic. Menu changes regularily according to our waiter who did a very nice job. Interesting layout within these fancy digs. Definately a special occasion place.

First visit Last visit! Excessive amounts of garlic, smoothered in so much grease it was sickening. lobster was like eating rubber. server came on strong was interested as long as we ordered lots of food. At our table constantly until we ordered then when we were not happy with our entree he was invisible. We complained to the second server but our waiter did not check back with us. When he brought our check we had said the lobster was the absolute worse we had ever had. He spoke to the chef, when he returned we were scolded for not speaking up sooner, it was our fault we did not tell him before the bill. Well, we did and it was not until our meal was over that we had a chance to speak to our server about this. Desert was good, the pastry chef excels over the main chef.

Both members of my party had the tasting menu. The beet salad was very good. The quail on polenta was mouth watering. The next two items were a disappointment. The pasta was way too salty. It was like eating salt. The water server could not keep up with our unquenchable thirst. When we mentioned the pasta was way too salty he glowed about how wonderful the chef was. Ah if the pasta is so good, why mask it with triple the salt? The duck was red in the center yet very chewy. It had an overdone steak texture. The falvor was good but getting through that tough duck was near impossible. Dessert was good. The $12 a glass wine was also disappointing. It was way overpriced for what you got. Overall I would not order the tasting menu again and only stick with recommended entrees.

A-la-carte menu had about six different pastas and six main dishes. The lobster Gnocchi was fabulous, but expensive ($47). The tasting menu ($60) changes frequently and consists of five courses. The night we dined, the tasting menu was also fantastic it consisted of an Arugala salad, quail, rabbit stuffed ravioli, succulent duck breast and dessert. Wine flights with the tasting menu is an extra $30.
Excellent wine list of mostly Italian wines not many under $50 a bottle.
Service was excellent responsive without being intrusive. We had theater tickets for later that night and the waiter timed the entire meal just perfectly so we were relaxed yet made the show in plenty of time.

I ate at the bar with my wife after a remark by a local critic that their bar menu was a steal: well, it ain't a steal. It is small and expensive. I found the pizza strange but tasty, my pasta appetizer precious but fresh. I cannot say that they really stood out. What did stand out, however, were the desserts. We had the selection of chocolate pastries, and these were truly unusual. It serves "2-4" and was better for 4 (we took some home). Service was exceptional. Ambience very nice. The exterior, however, has to be the ugliest of any fine restaurant I have ever been to, thanks to the horrendous building this place is housed in.

Who are you people that rated D'amico Cucina a "2"? If D'amico is a "2" then I definitely want to experience a "10" in your world. On my planet, D'amico Cucina is fantastic! We were seated a 1/2 hour before our dinner reservation time - on Valentine's Day; our waitress and bus staff were friendly, helpful and attentive; the food was prepared perfectly (tasted and looked heavenly); the timing of each coarse was perfect; and the whole experience was worth every penny. Feel free to boycott and go to Olive Garden instead - I'll take your table at D'amico anytime.

The Good: Beautiful space. One of the nicest in the twin cities. Wine list -- fabulous if you are already very familiar with Italian wines, if not you are SOL. Flatbread Pizza appetizer was good.
The Bad: The service was so snobby, I was embarrassed for my non-Italian food/wine expert friends. Someone asked for dressing for an obviously undressed 5-day old withered green salad and was told it already had the "house-special" dressing.
The Ugly: My seafood special dinner consisted of 2 salad-sized shrimp with the heads on, 2 bay scallops, & 2 clams, all over-cooked and dry, plus chopped tomatoes in chicken broth, no other seasonings for $35.00.

Hi, for those of you who dont like the service or cost of the place, try St. Cloud where the service sucks, the food is just OK and the cost isn't anything to write home about at any of the fine bulk food, deep fried, lettuce all over the buffet restaurants we have here. I really like D'Amico Cucina. It is a very nice place to eat and enjoy the setting. If you want low prices and food on the bottoms of your shoes when your done eating, come to my town. Otherwise, I think this place does a very nice job of making the customer feel very welcome, the food IS something to tell others about and I go back as often as I can. Dan.
