The staff was very freindly, but when my aunite took me here. I didn't know anything on the menu, so I just went with the chicken wongs... Yeah I know. But they were good wouldn't mind going back to try something else.

So i drive from the sub-burbs to eat at this great place, it is entertaining, and eveything is wonderful! I recommend the Chimichanga and deep fried chips. Their guac/salsa is homemade and compliments the meal, of course there is an extra charge for guac and sour cream, I dont know why there wouldn't be cause I'm sure they dont get their avacados for free...I read lots of reviews on here and it just goes to show the tough job the wait staff has trying to please everytype of person that enters through their front door. The thing I laugh about is "NO FREE REFILLS". 1QUESTION, DO YOU REALLY NEED A REFILL ON A JUMBO 32oz POP? I really do recommend going to Little T's, you'll enjoy yourself.....and leave with a full belly....

Pros: Homemade chips, homemade salsa, fun "real" staff...lots

Cons: Drunks at 2am, what do you expect at 2am though

.

The great thing is it's open late and your pretty much surrounded by your fellow creatures of the night crowed as apposed to a dennys or perkins. But unless your drunk and out late it's not worth the price and the food is super greasy and over priced. I found that on E Lake street almost all of the Mexican joints are open all night on weekends, and the food is way better and allot cheaper.

People were talking shit about the service but we got our food real fast and our waitress was friendly and down with the conversation. Tamales were tubular, the corn tortillas sent the taste buds on a journey. The dirty funk playing through the stereo was a nice change of pace for a Mexican restaurant. Overall, it was not your typical Mexican eating experience but totally worth the trip.

P.S. Get your chips oiled.

Pros: Fun atmosphere, interesting decorations, spicy salsa, QUICK

I love the food here and the service is super friendly! Their homemade spicy salsa is actually spicy and very good.

I went here with my good friend who has been there before. She told me it was great and her and a bunch of others liked it. I was fairly excited. I walked in and the host (some 20 something year old guy) was walking out for a cigarette and somewhat complained that we were interrupting his "break". I'm a hostess at a nicer restaurant and I am ALWAYS friendly. He wasn't much so. After we sat down he rushed us into ordering (we were the only ones there at the moment...) and he would not SHUT UP. He kept talking to us and kept coming to the table and annoying us/complaining about his sorry life. My friend and I were obviously trying to converse among ourselves. I ordered the Nachos Grande and it was DRIPPING in grease and I felt like I was going to have a heart attack afterward. I also ordered a chicken quesadilla that was also extremely greasy and was falling apart. Way too much chicken. I did not want to take my leftovers home hence I thought it was disgusting and he wouldn't NOT let me take it home because he said the cook thinks it's a waste of food. I threw it away right afterward. I did not care for the food at all and the bill was almost $30 for 2 people. It was NOT worth my time, money, or my poor organs! Don't eat here unless you like paying to ruin your health and be annoyed by the waitstaff.

Pros: Okay parking, small

Cons: Greasy, talkive waitstaff, too pricy for quality

This owner makes his own tamales from scratch each morning. The fagitas are outstanding. Salsa choices are excellent and delicious.

Little tijuana has been around for 40 plus years for many good reasons.

It??s one of those places that people talk about enough that it has a nick-name: lil t??s, and that doesn??t happen for just anybody. The menu is pretty affordable, and the portions are certainly too big for me to finish alone, and for anyone complaining that it??s not master chef quality food... really, what do you expect when you look at the place? I don??t even mean that in a bad way at all- it??s greasy, cheesy mexican comfort food- and at 2 am after a few good hours of drinking, could anything be better? probably not.

Little t??s isn??t a restaurant to go to if youre looking to have the staff bowing and scraping to your every whim- and that??s part of the fun. To anyone complaining that there are rules, well, you saw the signs when you sat down. If you can??t abide by them, then this isn??t the place for you. And you know what, if you just take their word for it, the food really is pretty good. Think of it this way: if you are trying to make all these modifications and have the cooks create you something new that they haven??t made 80 times already that night, chances are it??s not going to be awesome and it will be sent back and cause way too much chaos for everyone. They are well practiced in what they do serve, don??t ask them to experiment.

And as for the servers- they??re amazing. The number of people that pass through that restaurant every day is staggering- and they do a pretty great job staying on top of it. And they do a lot more than just run your food- they??re comedians, interpreters, psychiatrists, bouncers, diplomats, food allergy experts, toxic waste handlers (some people sadly just can??t hold their drinks), baby sitters and much more. And most of them do it for ten hours at a time in high heels. And every piece of information about pricing and what sides cost are on every single menu. Knowing that sour cream or guac cost extra, that??s your job.

And sodas? seriously? Theyre something like 32 ounces- my boyfriend and I can??t even finish one when we split it. And if you do manage to finish one, and are offended by the idea of not getting a free refill- they will bring you water for free if you ask, you don??t HAVE to sit there parched!

I've been coming to Little Tijuana for many years and it is consistently my all-time favorite for Mexican comfort food. While other restaurants in the neighborhood also feature Mexican cuisine, Little T's will always hold a very special place in my heart. The atmosphere is always a little edgy, which is a breath of fresh air in an age of so many boring, contrived concept restaurants. Whenever I've gone there, I've been impressed with the freshness of the ingredients and the generous portion sizes. Whether I've ordered the 'small' Greek salad, which could be an entire light lunch itself, or the magnificent chicken chimichanga or any of the traditional sandwiches (yay, BLT!!!), I've never been disappointed.

Frankly, I'm baffled by the spate of recent bad reviews. Judging by the reviews, I'm inclined not to take them at all seriously since they're snipy, poorly-written and seemingly vendetta-filled.

Little T's is a neighborhood institution that always draws an eclectic crowd from Whittier and far beyond. Here's to another 45 years!!

Cons: no deep-fried cheese curds

I once worked at Little T's. From reading everyone's reviews the one thing I can agree with is management. I didn't work there long because there were a lot of back of house issues and the owner/manager did run an odd business that seemed quite fishy to me. You won't see much of her being she lives upstairs and doesn't feel the need to see how customers are doing, or employees. The employees keep it alive and she is just there for the ride.

As for the not splitting bills there are reasons why. This restaurant is not located in a great area therefore many customers leave without paying, short the servers, or give fake money. Also the place gets very busy and splitting 1 table 15 ways is not convenient for anyone. Some people have to ruin it for all. It is only common sense...if there are 3 people at a table...pay for the meals on 1 card. Split the rest at another time, obviously you are friends and can work it out. This is a restaurant not chemistry. No need to complain about a simple process for professional reasons.

Food is great. Large portions. Authentic. Chips either come dry or fried. Fried chips are FRIED. Greasy fried. If you don't like this order dry. Both are awesome though. Sour cream and guac are not free. People use these condiments up fast and these are expensive food items. Food costs are like gas; they go up and down. The menu is huge and offers many vegetarian and vegan items along with all the meats. No liquor but a great assortment of Jarritos. Sodas don't have free refills but by the size of the glass you won't need one anyways.

Atmosphere is punk, edgy, and fun. This is not fine dining restaurant so walk in expecting to feel relaxed and have fun. Color on the tables, admire the tacky art.

I keep seeing negative reviews for Little T's and I don't get it. We've been going there for 10+ years. The food is still very good. Sure, it's not as cheap as it used to be, but what is? Prices go up, that's what happens. And complaining that they don't offer "free" refills? The glasses are huge.

We've never once encountered rude service. In fact, most of the service we've received has been quite good. Better, on average, than your normal chain restaurant.

It seems like half the reviewers show up there thinking they're going to Don Pablo's and are surprised that it's not. If you want fake smiles and lots of flare, that's your place. If you want something different and better food, go to Little T's.

I had expected more out of Little Tijuana Restaurant in Minneapolis, I was very disappointed. I have gone to very good other Authentic Mexican Restaurants in the past this wasn't one of them! For an example I will drive 100 miles to New Ulm for Plaza Garibaldi for Authentic Mexican. Their prices are equivalent and proportions to Little Tijuana, but their quality of service and food are much higher. At Plaza Garibaldi they believe the customer comes first. Unlike Little Tijuana where if you do not like your food they will argue with the customers, and make you pay for something you do not want to eat. At Plaza Garibaldi if you have a problem with your food or it's a mixed up order they're more then happy to fix it for you. At Little Tijuana you pay for your chips and salsa, the chips aren't worth eating anyways because it seems they re-fry their chips. At Plaza Garibaldi you get chips and salsa free with your order, the chips are fresh and tasty. At Little Tijuana's my drink was $2.75 with no refill. At Plaza Garibaldi it was $1.85 for soda with refills. Little Tijuana's atmosphere is dark and grungy. Plaza Garibaldi is light, festive and clean. Little Tijuana's is not customer service friendly that is noted on their sign on the wall that reads No checks, cash or credit only and only one credit card per table. Don't ask we will not split the check. At Plaza Garibaldi they're are more then happy to take more then one credit card and they will split the check. Also in the menu for Plaza Garibaldi you may substitute in your meal order. The point is I think you can see the difference for yourself between two individually owned Mexican Restaurants.

I have tried little Tijuana in the past in 2000 it was Ok I don't remember anything bad about it. So I thou ght I try it again since I like Mexican food. I was sadly disappointed. Having worked in the Restaurant Business and being a Food safety Manger myself. I notice things most people don't.

The first thing I noticed besides the cool picture on the front of the menu of the punk server. Was the sign on the wall that read no checks only cash or credit and only 1 credit card per table they will not split the bill so don't ask.
We had 3 people at our table 2 with credit cards one with cash. We thought about splitting up and sitting at different tables so we could all eat. Due to we were all hungry.
I offered to not eat so my friends could. Thankfully the server offered to make an exception. Because I was not going to ask due to the rude sign on the wall.

Our server was Ok but she mislead my friend into thinking that sour cream came with her meal so that she did not have order it on the side.

When we got our food it looked good and had big portions which was priced accordingly.

One friend ordered Nachos Grande it was very large which would have been wonderful except that the chips looked and tasted like they had been re-fried 3 times.
Any decent Restaurant would not have served those chips to any paying customer because they belonged in the trash can. A good Food Manger would of never sent those out.
It appears that restaurant is cutting corners to save money but they are only hurting their business.
If a customer was drunk they might not care or notice.

I ordered a Shrimp Chimichanga that came with sour cream. It looked good it tasted Ok but some of the large shrimp inside the Chimichanga still had it's hard tail on it. Note most Restaurants order their entree piece premade from a food distributor. So I can't blame Little Tijuana unless they make it fresh by hand in their Restaurant.

My other friend ordered a #5c which she had been lead to believe it came with sour cream and when it had not she asked the server for the sour cream. Her meal tasted Ok. When the bill came she was charged .75 for 3oz of sour cream. First there was not 3oz that came in the 3 oz container only a little spoon full. Next when she asked the server about the charge for the sour cream. She was told her dish did not come with sour cream the Chimichanga did.

I never remember asking whether or not my Chimichanga meal came with sour cream or not. But both my friends and I remember the sever being asked if #5c did and she said yes.

After I organized the table so that the dishes could be picked up due to my restaurant training is deeply ingrained. We all worked out the tips. I never cheat a server on a tip even if I their service was not outstanding. I give 10% 15% or 20% depending on service quality. I mostly give 20%.

When we were asked how was our food we all said fine thanks. We kept our real thoughts to our self due to we were worried they might put extra charges on our credit card.

Over all our experience was sadly disappointing.
The service could of been quite a bit better. Like a sorry for misleading you on the sour cream that was my fault let me make up for it by taking it off your bill.
Next no customer should be afraid in telling them the truth about the quality of their food. If they are afraid there is something really wrong with the Restaurant Customer Service.

After reading other customers comments about the Restaurant in the review I am glad I didn't say anything in person. I feel this Restaurant owner or manger is doing shady Business by intimidating customers into paying for food that is not to quality standards.

Note I do not work or have ever worked at this Restaurant. I am only a Customer who has training in the Restaurant field and know what good Customer Service is. Thank you for your time. I hope you find this helpful.

Piles of Mexican goodness! Portions are very generous, and there's a nice variety to the menu. I felt guilty about getting a burger there once until I bit into it. Those are really good too.

They make their own chips. If you're feeling up for an especially evil treat, get 'em fried.

And anywhere you can draw on the paper covering the tables can't be all bad!

First off I never write reviews. OK, I always end up at this crappy place. No one really likes their food, more that it's open late. I have never really cared for it myself. But tonight the waitress wouldn't let me return my hamburger... which I took one bite of and quite literally blooood ran out and pooled up on the plate and bun. She said that the "Owner" who was also the cook?? said I had to eat it as is. I asked to talk to the owner she said" no and that I should just eat it so she wont have to pay for it." I offered her $20 for her to take care of the situation. This was more than enough to pay for a new hamburger and the old one) and she said no, if she argued with her boss she would "lose her job".

I explained I wasn't going to pay for something that I didn't eat and I wasn't going to eat something that could risk my health. She said then YOU are making me pay for this. I replied, "I think it's YOUR owner/boos/cook (or whoever this mystery person behind the curtain is) who is making you pay. I offered you a fair deal" This whole situation was making me think I was on a hidden camera show. Because first she messed up my order bringing me the gross deep fat fried chips, then forgot our silverware, we had to get these ourselves. Then after all that drama, she charged my friend's credit card for the full bill, before finally squaring it up. Bottom line: After 12 years of putting up with bad food and bad service. I will never eat at Litte T's again.

I will never eat at Litte T's again.

.

We heard good things about this place, but we're disappointed immediately when we were told they don't serve alcohol. But we still wanted to try the "amazing" food we heard about so went with waters. The chips and salsa that you have to pay for are dripping with grease (you can get dry but we were never offered those so did not know until later). Then the enchiladas w/ rice and beans came out and it was all bland tasting. Don't waste your time, go right down the road to Pancho Villas where you can drink awesome margaritas and eat better food w/ free chips and salsa.

I've been going to little t's for years. Its changed a little bit from the late 90s but its still one of my favorite places in minneapolis. The enchiladas and fajitas are to die for, the pops are GIGANTIC (no refills, however, but i can't imagine anyone ever needing one) and, as everyone probably knows, you get to color on the tables. If the staff decides they like whatever you've drawn, it might be added to their collection of patron-drawn pictures on the board behind the counter.

Speaking of the staff...
the waitresses (and waiters) have always been one reason i'm drawn to the place. the last 3 times i've been there i've been waited on by the same girl who is usually sporting some vintage outfit, about a hundred tattoos, and red lipstick. talk about HOT. the rest of the staff is just as aesthetically pleasing 100% of the time. but other than just looking good, i've always felt the service was really good, but seriously, don't come in when its like 2:50 AM (they close at 3).

We were very excited to go to this restaurant after reading good reviews. We always enjoy trying something new, especially places that are unique. But we were really, really disappointed. The facility is quite old, with old vinyl booths, laminate tables, blue Christmas lights, and a few Mexican-themed paintings. You can see into the kitchen, which also seems old, like a greasy spoon-type kitchen. That doesn't bother me if it has great food or some other attraction. But it does not. The menu was pretty affordable (but not great), but all the notes about "Absolutely no substitutions" were obnoxious (it's hard to believe that this is such a problem). It's very odd that there are charges of $0.30 for flour tortillas. The salsa was pretty good, even though chips and salsa have to be ordered. The rest of the food was pretty blase. Nothing special. The beef in the fajita tasted like it was marinated in teriyaki sauce, which was odd. But the real problem was the service. Our waiter, who had 15 piercings on his face had an I-could-care-less attitude. We had to ask several times for more water, and this when there were 3 wait staff similarly dressed in sloppy, grungy clothes, commiserating at a corner table, with only three tables with customers! There was no one else there, like a manager who might care about the business. If you care about Mexican food, a good deal or fair service, try a different place that might care. If you like places that uniquely combine counter-culture and nickle-and-dime pricing, this might be the place.

Little T's is a good place to get a late night bite to eat. The nacho's supreme is huge and is good to share with someone. They have the most intense jalapeno's I've ever experienced so take those with stride if you're a jalapeno wimp like me. Good service, good tunes, but give the servers a break and don't show up 5 minutes before they close.

Cons: Gets pretty packed on Saturdays, but where doesn't?

As a young man in the 80s, I used to go here a couple times a month and always enjoyed the food, service etc. It was a near perfect end of the night hangout with OK food and decent (if maybe a little too cool for school) help. I have a lot of good memories of this place. I go back every couple years now and have not had a good experience in the last 4 or 5 visits. Generally bad/poorly prepared food with snotty unhelpful service. I think I'm done with this joint.

We sat down and waited about 10 minutes to get water. Waited 1/2 hour and still no food. We asked about it and told it was coming any moment. No apology offered, and not even a chip offered as we waited. Waitresses didn't care. We left before food arrived. Went to Peninsula Malaysian and had a great experience. Go there instead!!

This place was awesome. i LOVE their cheeseburgers w/ guacamole! the service is great and doesn't lack in uniqueness. There is paper on the tables so you can draw all over them. open late and good prices. the only thing that i have to warn you about.. if your a pop drinker its a little pricey with no re-fills. but otherwise. you have to check this place out!

A date took me here one night in December...and all I can say is that it is one of a kind! I don't even like Mexican that much and this was just plain delicious! I had the chicken quesidilla (simple, i know) but it had THE BEST taste! I couldn't get enough. AND the crayons at the table are perfect for those artsy people who like to draw all over the table cloth. GET THE FRIED ICE CREAM TO SHARE! Almost everything can be shared here and its just awesome. The servers are all in a great mood...and the atmosphere is funky, unique and an overall nice experience. I'd highly reccommend this restaurant! :)

So, I went back to Little T's (of course I would) after writing a critical review here. And after my expericence, my consience tugged at me. This time, the food was well prepared and well balanced. It came hot and the crispys were crispy the produce was fresh and just right. I have to say I have a semi-renewed faith in the place. I'll coment no further, thank you.

This last post was made by a disguntaled former employee who was terminated and needs to move on. Legal action has already been taken against her. So please just ignore anything that she says. Little T's is an awesome place sometimes things just dont work out and she needs just to chill out. Thanks :)

Customer is not always right. Salsa is reused off dirty tables to new customers. Dining room smells of mold. A very sketchy place with bad vibes.

Yes, I liked Little T's for the first few times but then "it" happened. My stomach became a very unhappy place and the rest of me also became unhappy for the next few days. As I spread my story of illness, I find that almost everyone I know has had a similar, yet less humerous experience.

Need I say more? The place has been there since way way way before Mexican food debuted in the midwest. The decor is tacky and wonderful. The waitstaff are copacetic. The food is cheap, authentic, and can be prepared to your specifications if you don't really like what they serve. This is the kind of place that you would want to meet Frida Kahlo and Leon Trotsky to discuss the fall of the United States as a civilization, over margaritas and greasy corn chips.

Ok - so this place does have excellent Mexican food but OMG you must go there and have a burger! I have been going to this place for late night eats for like 10 years and have only ever had Mexican twice. Just can't pass up that delicious burger. Great food, prices, hours, and ambiance are the reasons that wioll keep me coming back for years to come!

I have always loved Little T's - i've been going here for 7 years, and have never been disappointed. If you're looking for a upscale, quiet romantic dining locale, you came to the wrong place! and if you look where you are, you could tell that by the storefront and the neighborhood! the staff is prompt and fun, and you can color your table while you wait.

definitely a minneapolis must for the non pretentious crowd! if you ever find yourself with a late night craving after a show or the bars, this is your spot!

This place is a great greasy spoon that serves up good food. I got the fried chips and put a little salt on them and got pico. Very good! I also had the shredded pork taco's (#3) and they were wonderful. They do not offer refills on soda's but COME ON, no person should drink more than one of those gigantic sodas in one setting. I was practically in a food coma and wanted to be wheeled out of Little T's. Servers were also nice and helpful!!

We had been here before and liked it for what it was: mexican food, late night at a hole in the wall. Expecting the same we went back.

Seated right away we were ready to order 10 minutes later when the waiter came to the table (there were numerous empty tables at 12am b4 the drunk rush). 1/2 hour after our order was taken we were informed our ticket had fallen to the floor and our food would be right out. 15 minutes later we were ready to pay for our drinks and leave. The "manager" handled their mistake by arguing with us and not letting us leave without our food to go. We received our appitizer for free, a rude comment on the way out and no appology. We took the food home and threw it away.

I recently went there for lunch on a weekday. We got there @ noon and there were no other customers there yet. We were served our food within 10 minutes of ordering. It was fantastic! The soft drinks are huge, but no free refills, and they are expensive. During busy times, it is hard to find parking in that neighborhood. Also, they are strict about payment; no checks and only 1 credit card per table, which may turn some people away. Overall GREAT food and fun atmosphere!

We were a group of 12.

They were blaring hip-hop so, we asked if they could turn it down a little.

"No." she said

The waitress would not separate our bills.

They would not accept checks.

Only two credit cards can be used per table.

We asked if we could break up into smaller tables - no one had cash.

She said "No."

There we're 4 other people in the whole restaurant - it was not about chairs.

We went to another restaurant. It was ridiculous.

Here you get heaping portions of authentic Mexican fare that provides the perfect punctuation for any situation. A late-night bite after that concert, movie, or bar run! They even have a hangover brunch or some quick vittles. And where else can you draw on the table with crayons and spy other punks settling into a battered booth for the long haul? At under 10 bucks per platter, the price can't be beat!

If you're looking for a good place to eat and it's after 11pm-midnight, look no further than Little T's. Located on 26th and Nicollet, T's features a friendly atmosphere, night owl hours, and delicious mexican food. Large portions and reasonable prices. I highly suggest their nachos to split between a group of friends, or as a meal in and of itself.

Waitresses get to know regular customers. Food is made quick. Scantily clad, tatooed/ pierced waitresses entertain customers with their quickness on 4+ inch heeled shoes. Maybe not for your grandparents but this place is great. Quirky atmosphere complete with little signs everywhere, from 'Good customers put away their crayons' to 'No Checks'. Greasy spoon tex-mex restaurant done well.

Maybe they changed owners or something, because the food here SUCKS and it is relatively expensive. It's greasy tex-mex served in an equally gross environment. Chips and salsa are extra and you're lucky if you don't chip a tooth. I ordered the taco/enchilada dinner for $8 and the tacos and the enchiladas must contain the same ingredients, chicken tacos means chicken enchiladas. Soft-drinks are expensive, $2.25, and NO REFILLS. We got 2 entrees, 2 drinks, and chips for $26. That wouldn't be expensive if it were any good. Did I mention the grease? AVOID THIS PLACE!!!

I have always been treated wonderfully here, until recently. Last time I was there, my waitress spilled coke all over the table and us, and she didn't even apologize. Then at the end of the meal, she made a rude comment about the size of the tip we left, which was extremely generous given the size of our order and her rudeness. I hope I never have to see her again.
