Purchased my brand new Toyota Corolla in 2009. I allowed the sales/finance staff to talk me into the Platinum Vehicle Service warranty plan (~$1500 upgrade for a 7 year, bumper-to-bumper, free roadside assistance, etc). Luckily, I hadn't needed to use it for the first few years (although I have lost count on how many recalls I have taken part in, I will steer clear of Toyotas from this point on most likely). Today, my car wouldn't start, so I think "Okay, I will call Toyota Roadside Assistance" only to find out that apparently it is not covered and I will need to pay it all out of pocket. The kind operator told me that I could try to seek re-imbursement, but I didn't want to take that risk, because Maplewood Toyota Sales staff lied to my face so I cannot allow myself to trust them. Will not do business with them again and will certainly not recommend them to friends and family.

We bought a Toyota Corolla from them during the "Cash for Clunkers" program. They were helpful on the information and process of turning your old car in for a new one with that program, more so than other car dealerships we talked to. But

Maplewood Toyota is in a good location in the Twin Cities and they have a pretty good selection of vehicles to choose from. Most of the sales people are pretty knowledgeable.

It sounds as though someone with enough time to submit a complaint on a third party consumer site surely would have enough time to research such a huge purchase before going into a store (be it for a car, TV, or any large purchase) I'm not trying to defend what could be an inept salesperson, but as a reader I'm reading about someone who probably wasn't the best customer since you went into what is widely reguarded as a 'fight' at a car dealership knowing nothing about what you may be buying- I'm guessing you buried the salesperson in questions and test drive requests that he was more than happy to be done with you. While we're all happy that your husband and you have made a living that produces a six figure income it is still quite difficult to get through the several misspellings in your entry calling your whole contribution to the website into question. My entry is simply puting into print what I would guess us regular folk are thinking as we read your entry.

We had just horrible service both times we went to this dealership to test drive. They are very commission focused and the first time we went the guy told us he wouldn't help us or let us test drive unless we were going to buy that day. He just wasted a half an hour of our time and told us to come back some other time. Plus, he told us a Yaris cost 30K, when it cost 15K. He had all his stuff wrong.

The second time we went in, we came in on a Tuesday morninng, hoping to get better service. I even wrote down the VIN and vehicle #'s to speed the process along. Still, the guy that helped us this time took forever getting us into a vehicle to test drive it. Then he was practically no help with the questions we had and after 3 test drives couldn't suggest any other vehicles for us to even try and kinda shewed us away. My husband and I make over a 100K a year and have cash in our savings that could buy any car on that lot and yet they treated us like trash. I just don't get it. I've never had this experience at any dealerships on the south side of town. Burnsville Toyota treated us awesomely.

We bought our second toyota from them. The salesman was great - sold us what we wanted and allowed us to say no to things we did not want - did not make us feel pressured at all. We enquired about trading in our Geo Prizm that was in great shape and the salesman admitted to us that we were better off selling it ourselves - then before we could list it, he gave our number (with our permission first) to someone who had been in looking for a used car and could not find what he wanted. The salesman gained nothing from this and we sold our old vehicle for more than we would have gotten from a trade in without having to answer the phone all day and show it to a ton of people. The service department is great, always fast and efficient. We have gone to other Toyota dealerships and not been happy. This one is quite a drive for us, but worth it.
