Dreadful! Bad! I got a terrible color! The worst I've ever had. I've never had to fix a haircut or color before but I needed to fix this one (went to a real stylist the very next day).

The stylist at Moxie was obviously very inexperienced

I had been going to Moxie for about a year to my regular stylist Hazel. I had pre-booked an appointment with her at my last haircut. I was very surprised when I recieved a call from moxie TELLING ME what day and time my appointment had

Matty has been doing my hair for about 8 months now and has taken my hair to a whole new level. He is truly passionate about making people look and feel their best and it shows! Recently he became certified in Klix extensions. (www.klixhair)

He did my extensions last night and I could not be happier! They are the most realistic looking and feeling extensions I have ever seen! The cost was a fraction of other methods and the best part is that they do not damage your natural hair at all!

If anyone is even CONSIDERING extensions of any kind, you need to sit down with Matty for a free consultation...he's truly the best at what he does!! If you go in, tell him you read my review - it will make his day...

When I walked in, the assistant manager introduced herself, took my coat, and gave me a tour of the salon, which I thought was really nice.

My stylist was super friendly, and didn't give me a hard time about how badly I treat my hair--she just did a great job cutting it. I have naturally curly hair that I usually wear straight, so stylists typically flatiron it and then cut it. Usually, they rush through it and I walk out with kinks in my hair that need to be fixed at home. Hazel took the time to straighten it layer by layer--I LOVED how it looked when I walked out of the salon!

They make product suggestions, and I ended up buying some, but I would have felt totally comfortable saying no. They're not pushy at all. The price was fair and I'm satisfied with my hair cut. I'll be back for sure.

Lacy didn't just cut my hair, she shaped it with precision, ease and an expertise that made me feel like putty in her hands. Her techniques were impressive, thoughtful and deliberate. It felt almost as though her cool razor tool was really a magic wand. Her magic wand. She waved it this way and that, and voila! I had a beautiful haircut. She's a gem. I'm so happy to have found her!

I went to Moxie (Uptown) recently for the first time ever and absolutely loved it. I chose Micha as my hairstylist because of his recent win for ??Best Hair Stylist in 2009?
by City Pages. The location was super easy to find. Parking was a bit tough because they have do not have a parking lot for customers. I drove around a bit (be careful with the One Ways!) and found a spot on a side street.

Micha is the BEST hairstylist I??ve ever had! I usually do the same thing with my hair (grow it out, get same style and then chop it off when I get bored). I went to Micha with no style in mind and told him to do what he thinks would be cute. He gave me the best hair cut/style I??ve never had! I got so many compliments on it. Not only is it cute, it only takes a few minutes to style in the morning. I bought both products that he used,
(with no pressure) AND they only cost $15 total!

I??m so happy to FINALLY find my salon and my hairstylist!

I was looking for a new salon and I heard about Moxie. I got an appointment with Hazel, who is apparently a junior stylist but my goodness, she did such an incredible job!! She walks you through the entire haircut and no matter how late your appointment is running, she'll take the time to keep asking you what you like. If she uses products she'll create a regimen and periodically show you how to use them. She's absolutely great. It's truly a haircut for you and by you. I've gone back a couple times since my first visit and each one is better. They are super friendly and will help you book an appointment, even call you to remind you about the appointment a couple days before. *****

I have been going to Moxie for a while without a single disappointing haircut. The stylists are very good at what they do and make sure you are taken care of.

The salon itself is visually upbeat, but the music generally doesn't match the vibrantly painted walls. The walls are usually (not always) covered with bad art which is about as bold as their attempt to create a hip, funky, upbeat salon. The website is even worse. It is obvious that they didn't hire a web designer because they wanted to save a buck, naively missing the very point of the website--to represent and communicate the Moxie salon on the web.

Talent-wise they are very sharp stylists. The business itself appears confused and unsure of what it wants to be.

I needed to find a new stylist and found their location, pricing, and website to be exactly what I needed.

I have really thick, fine hair and from their website decided to see Steph. Her skills matched her online profile exactly! From the moment I arrived, I was attended to promptly and with very friendly service.

I asked for Steph's opinion on a few things, to which she gave helpful feedback that yielded great results. Her scalp massage and face wrap really made the experience feel more like a spa experience than just a routine cut and color.

I left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated, and like my time and money were well-spent. I will definitely be going back!

What I loved about moxie was the positive energy. Everyone working really seemed to care about each other and help each other. They all made me feel so welcome and comfortable from start to finish and I had some of the best conversations I have had in a long time. I came with a friend. Shelley cut and colored my friends hair and did an amazing job-my friend left that place looking 20 years younger and she was so happy with the experience. Hazel cut and colored my hair. She was a wonderful girl, very nice and skilled. I hate getting my hair cut but she made it a great experience by really listening to what i wanted and making me feel at ease. These girls and the other staff had us laughing and having so much fun we were sad to go! thanks so much to all of you who worked on friday morning for the amazing experience. i have no problem driving 4 hours to come see you guys, anytime.

I always cut my own hair and I finally decided the back was getting too choppey and needed it cleaned up, my friend Jen recommended Shelly because she did a really cool funky cut on her and a really cool color and cut on her other friend. I decided to call moXie because I chopped my hair to bits on my own and the problem was that I wanted to keep my length. I was put off a little when I saw her because she looks crazy funky but she nailed my blonde foils and girly hair cut (which is crazy considering what it looked like beforehand.) I love her, I will definately be back!

moxie used to be my home away from home. it huslted and bustled. the walls were orange. i could drink my weight in free coffee and no one looked down on me. i could have my "soccer mom" do with highlights and read cheap gossip rags and chat up a whole array of bright young fun things while my color cooked.

but its all gone now. the walls, floor, ceilings-EVERYTHING is grey. even the lighting casts an unflattering sallow tone of everyone, like a fitting room at kmart. the stylists tell you to only "whisper" and you're left alone while your color cooks. my last stylist made a face when i explained my "soccer mom flip bubble bob" to her. my last stylist also said " i hope this works" when she put my color on! i thought they did full on training there!
in short, this salon embodies nothing that it did 1 year ago, the regular staff has left and it's like moxie is trying to become some uber snob NYC salon. i'm moving on to another salon....
also, its pretty obvious the salon has been reviewing itself below.

What used to be a fun, exciting, and warm place to go for hair services is now more like a Cost Cutters with a fancy name and new paint job. Most of the talented, long term staff have recently left the salon as have most of the long term clients. What remains is a cold atmosphere with not so skilled hairdressing and bad attitude. I found their attitude to be rude to the point of being offensive. Poor management and a profit first agenda has led to the decline of this place. Beware before you try out this place! On the other hand, don't waste your time.

I just moved here from CA and have tried several salons and then found Moxie. They did something that the other salons didn't, they gave me a great experience. I saw Nicole and she was amazing! She listened to my needs and had great suggestions. She also gave me "7 minutes of Heaven", a complimentary hot towel and scalp massage that truly was heaven. I just couldn't believe all the attention I got. I also found on their website, moxiesalon, a great deal for all new clients. If you haven't checked it out yet, it's a must.

I almost had a breakdown when I found out my stylist of many years from Moxie had moved on. I was apprehensive about trying a new stylist. I made an appointment with Maria for color and she nailed it. She had my color formula on record and it was exactly want I wanted. I have been back many times and we have even mixed it up a little. Great colorist! Great Service!

I'm cheap. Oh, and impulsive. So when my best friend who has been cutting my hair for the past few years moved to Bermuda, and I was struck by the drunken decision to cut off most of my hair one night at a party, I had no qualms about having another drunk girl chop off my ponytail. After a week or so I decided I looked 12 and wondered into Moxie to set up an appointment with the first girl who was available. Luckily it was Missy. I went from having hair mid-boob to a choppy bob to a pixie cut and it's my favorite look I've ever had. I really hate small talk, and most people in this industry have a dorky, fake air to them. But she maintained fun, interested conversation without making me feel less confident in those scissors. I'm excited to hopefully go blonde for the first time for a Jean Seberg look. It's not free like my Bermudian friend, but compared to a few years ago when I went to Adevia, it leaves plenty of money in your pocket for an appropriate tip for great service.

For about 2 years I have been going to this place on a regular basis. Besides the fact that tastes differ, and not every stylist is for everyone, I can definitely recommend going here. I mostly had appointments with Angela, and I was always satisfied, and many times I was even really happy with the haircut I got (considering my vanity this is hard to achieve). Angela is competent and works very accurately, understands what you want, and above all has very good taste.

I've been going to Moxie for about 6 months now, and have always seen Stephen. Stephen really understands what I have to say about my hair, and I have never had a stylist that gives me such great confidence as I leave the salon. The front desk is always very helpful in booking appointments and scheduling, The staff around us is always VERY professional, and they all look like they are having a good time. Everyone is chatting and laughing at what we're all saying. I feel like it's a night on the town when I go to Moxie. The music is great, and so is the atmosphere. I feel comfortable there. Stephen's assistants are always very helpful and professional, and they always look bouncy and full of energy. I would recomend anyone to Moxie salon, my kids, my grandkids, my best girlfriends, even my husband!!!!!! Go to moxie salon, you will not be dissapointed.

Cons: parking

I too would highly recommend to go to Missy, she's really great and always listens to suggestions and concerns. The atmosphere is welcoming and hip and all the stylists seem very knowledgeable about what they are doing. Missy even fixed a 100$ haircut from an aveda salon for a quarter of the price. I have been going there for years and will not go anywhere else!

I used to go here for years and although stephen's hair cuts are above average, the price you pay for them is not worth what you get. the experience should be calming and relaxing and each time I would see him, he would be over booked or sick because of the insane hours he keeps. He was inattentive, distracted, crabby and all around mean to his employees while doing my hair. I began going to someone else in his shop because I didn't have time to search around to find a better place. After a few years of that, my hair began to look lifeless and I was ready for a change. I thought I would go back one last time to give it a shot and I got the *WORST* cut and color of my life. After almost six months, I am still growing out my hair and trying to get it back to the way it was. I would not go here if it was free.

I have seen Missy for my last 4 hair cuts and have been incredibly happy with my hair (which is rare!). She has an inner understanding of what will work with your face shape and style and she will be honest about what your hair is capable of and will listen to what you want. If you are looking for a great hair cut I say call Moxie and ask for Missy.

I recently got my hair cut by Missy at Moxie Salon and it was perfect. She listens to all your concerns BEFORE telling you hers. She doesn't sugarcoat and tell you things will work if they won't; she tells you what will look good, gives suggestions, and you leave looking much more beautiful than when you walked in. If you're looking for an amazing stylist, go see her. Now. It's worth it!

Jennifer Berg speaks a secret language of love and attentiveness with her shears that results in scrumptious tresses that demand attention. I went into Moxie in need of some serious oomph and came out the ultimate hair vixen. Be prepared for the repercussions of a Jenny Berg haircut that include, but are not limited to: a strong desire to be seen in public, compliments, cat calls, free drinks and phone numbers. Jennifer Berg is a hair-cutting genius and I would strongly recommend her to anyone and everyone.

i was sent to jen by a coworker of mine who always has had great curly hair and recomended that i had my "box dye job" tweaked since it had gone a bit orange. i was afraid that when i was there i wouldnt be able to afford a color so i just booked haircut, but when i got there she offered to do a "shines treatment" to even out the roots and tone down the orange. she cut my hair first when it was dry, and i had never had that done before. she said it would help the curls lay better, and it did! when i left, i had a rich mahogany brown, and an "ant-triangle" haircut, just nice easy layers! and it cost under 100$!

Pros: great people around, coffe, magazine selection

Cons: parking on side streets was confusing

I've been going to Moxie for about 6 years now, and Matty has been doing my hair since the first time I walked through the door. He is amazing with color and his cuts are always fantastic! I've seen the work he has done for several other clients as well (if you've got curly hair, he's your man!!). He's also a really great person to interact with. He'll listen to you, he'll work with you, and he'll tell you his opinions of what will work for you or not. I HIGHLY recommend him! (Just don't fill up my time slots!!) :o)

Matt does such a great job. He is a stylist with an artist eye. His knowledge of color and where to place it seems to come so naturally to him. Whether your hair is super curly, wavy, straight, etc he knows how to work with it and create a truly stylish look.

He's my hiar Guru.

I have been trying to find a salon that isn't too overpriced but isn't a chop shop either, and I finally found it. Andy was my stylist and he was terrifc. The receptionist was very pleasant and the staff seemed upbeat and happy. Andy took all my concerns into account and transformed my hair. He was very personable and terrifc at his job. My hair cut was awesome and while shampooing my hair I recieved a scalp massage and warm tea-tree towel over my face. I was so relaxed and happy when I left.

I went to Jen for a cut and color because of the raave reviews on the Naturally Curly web site. I didn't mind the 2 hour drive, because a good curly girl hair cut is worth it, but not this one. We talked briefly, and the two things I mentioned was that I really like my natural color, just wanted to cover the few grays, and that I hate a flat top. She couldn't be bothered with me. There was only one other client in the shop and she was with me.

The assistant gave me a nice scalp massage and was very pleasent, as was most of the staff. My "cut" was a light trim in the back while WET ( a Curly Girl NO NO) when I was expecting a dry cut.

My color was almost black - very flat color. When it was time to diffuse my hair, Jen was very preoccupied with another stylists client and had to pass me off to another assistant once again. The top was flat, the curls were so so. Jen finally came back and asked how I liked it. I usually grin and bare it, but she could tell I was very disappointed. When I said how much I disliked the top, she said that was just "styling" hello? Then she proceeded to try and sell me product after product. It was the most time she spent with me the entire visit. I was so upset, but kept my cool. What a huge let down.

I must say that my friend (also a curly girl) went to Catlin, and she looked GREAT. Catlin cut her hair while dry and really talked to her about drying tips etc.

Bottom line, if you have curly hair you're much better off with Catlin - I wish I had booked her as well.

I went to Micah at Moxie and got the best cut! I haven't been to a salon in years. Everyone was nice, the service was excellent. The scalp massage and hot towel were great. (I would recommend the lavendar.) I had no idea what kind of cut I wanted or what would look good. Micah was very nice and made super recommendations. The cut came out better then I had hoped. I love my cut and rebooked to go back for a 2nd visit.

Go see Stephen, His hair cuts last forever and his skills are surpassing. I went in looking for a new look, and he guided and coached me to an style I could do at home and that fit my lifestyle. It is as if he read my mind with his questions. My color sings and it is so vibrant and fun. Stephen's prices my be a little high but with the friendly service and the hot towel along with the scalp massage, and the best hair cut color and style I have ever had; it was worth it. Do not worry about the assistants, they are trained in customer service as well and help with all needs.

Cons: a little hard to get in with, busy, Fun but a little chaotic

I go to Catlin and she's great. I haven't had a bad haircut yet, and I think the customer service is excellent! I especially love the head massages and hot washcloth treatment when I'm getting my hair washed. The salon also has a cool vibe, without being pretentious.

I got the worst cut of my life at Moxie. I wanted to cry everytime I looked in the mirror. It was like pulling teeth to get anyone to talk to me about a solution. Save your hair and steer clear of Moxie!

PROS: Good location, but I can't say anything else good about the place
CONS: Horrid haircuts - terrible customer service

I went to MoXie because of the reviews on citysearch, and I am very glad I did. My stylist was Mahogany and she really is a great stylist! I was very impressed with the salon and my service was much better than the "higher end" salon's I've been to. I let Mahogany tell me what she suggested (since clearly she's more of an expert than I am) and she considered my situation, current color, and my face. And it really helped to know her opinion. I will definetely be back.

I had the best hair cut with Nikki. You can ask for what you would like in detail, but you can also get her professional opinion and you can't go wrong. You end up with a really cute cut. The cut lasts long, and the price is reasonable. The staff are all very hip and nice at the same time.

...and visit Moxie.

I'm a self-professed control freak - so much so that I began cutting my own hair 4 years ago. My first time back in the chair was with Jarod at Moxie. The experience was entirely contrary to my expectations - relaxing, not stressful - interesting, no small-talk banter about the weather - educational, not mystifying. All of it was so wonderful that I didn't feel a tip was enough, so I signed up for citysearch just to give a rave. At Moxie you can expect to be treated well, listened to, and come out feeling more informed about your hair. This treatment is especially generous when you consider how inimitably reasonable the prices are. Good luck finding a better deal.

I was referred here by someone at a store in the neighborhood and have been refering people ever since. Every stylist here totally takes their time to figure out what you want and give suggestions on what would look good. They are super friendly and fun to talk to and I am usually not big on talking while getting a haircut/color. It seems like their services take longer than "normal" but I think it is because they are so thorough... You also get points each time you go that add up to free/reduced cost services.

Located in Uptown Minneapolis, Moxie Salon provides an inviting atmosphere for a high quality haircut. Prices range from $20 to over $50, based on the skill ranking of the stylist, I.E. newer employees command a lower price, while the most experienced stylists cost more. Included in the price of the haircut is complimentary water, coffee, or tea, and one extra special treat: A Tea Tree steamed towel wrap. While shampooing your hair, you have the option to have a relaxing steamed, herbally scented towel wrapped over your face, and recieve a pressure point massage on your scalp. Why pay 12-15 dollars at a "budget cuts" type salon, when you can spring a little bit more and treat yourself to a high quality hair cut with some great benefits?

PROS: Great stylists, great amenities, great atmosphere.
CONS:
