Great food at a good price. Small-town cafe atmosphere with friendly servers. Only open for breakfast and lunch and very busy on weekends. If you go on a weekend expect to wait...but it's worth it!

Eggie's has consistantly been a home away from home for it's customers who seek the best normal cup of coffee in town with a meticulously prepared breakfast in the classic american diner style. This is not a chain operation, chances are if you come back more than once, the owner will know you by name. For a unique breakfast option, try the delicious Egg's Ranaldo.

Pros: Friendly people, great food

.

Background:
I love breakfast food. I'm not cheap but I'm not rich either, so a good deal is always welcome and Eggie's provides just that.
I was trying various local restaurants, looking for the perfect place to be my "frequent spot." My "Cheers", if you will. Eggie's has become that place (and did so by the first time I ate there, the second time was already just a confirmation rather than another test).
Food:
I like food that is real. A lot of restaurants have a processed taste or atmosphere that I don't prefer. The food at Eggie's is real, you can watch them cook it, and it tastes like you just made it at home (or better, depending on how good of a cook you happen to be).
Service:
The service is amazing. Everyone that works there (I frequent the place enough, and at different times/days, to have met everyone). The first time I ate there, it was packed. The wait was only a couple minutes and I was offered coffee while I waited (perfect!). I sat down at the booth before it was cleared, because that doesn't bother me, and I just wanted to get out of the way of the foot-traffic. The waitress seemed embarrassed that the table wasn't cleared already, and she apologized even though I insisted that it didn't matter. I've worked in a few service-related industries and the service at Eggie's is what it should be: fast, attentive, accurate, and sincere.
Size:
Small diner. It seats maybe 50 people if my memory serves (and using the picture as a reference).
Price:
Low to Average. Breakfast for one person, with drink, will be around $10. It's worth more.
Notes:
I love eating at Eggie's, I go there enough that they know my name.I want to point out that I didn't know the owner prior to liking it so much, the restaurant is just that good! I made sure to write the review as unbiased as possible.
Negatives:
I had a lunch item once and wasn't impressed. Smaller size means you might need to wait or split a group into booths.

Pros: Service, taste, style, owner checks how people are doing

Cons: Lunch wasn't amazing, limited seating

Service was excellent and the breakfast was a like home-made meal made in front of you. You get the feeling of a small town cafe and its a nice change from chain restaurants.

Frequent vistor of 1-2x a week. Tasty, accomodating and friendly service that the staff are chatty and always happy to be there! Food is tasty and inexpensive. cool old time diner and we always miss it if those prior engagements get in our way of visiting for some good food and great chat.

We've tried every breakfast place in town. Both sides of the river, uptown, south minneapolis, nordeast. And we're never disappointed to make the drive to this small, neighborhood breakfast diner. If you like real breakfast diner food and real breakfast diner service and ambiance, Eggies is it.

I've grown up with Eggie's Cafe and have recently made it back! I enjoy the familiar, friendly, relaxing atmosphere with that old neighborhood feel. We have always enjoyed our meals and look forward to our next visit and never go away unsatisfied. I enjoy it just as much today as I did in years gone past.

You can't beat Eggies for a simple, tasty, pleasant and REAL breakfast experience. Don't expect anything fancy (save that for the overpriced breakfast posuers). Great -- and simply unique -- egg benedicts. Wonderful, homemade sausages. And some of the most friendly, attentive service you can find these days. That in itself is worth the trip.

Pros: Breakfast. Breakfast. Breakfast.

We went to Eggie's based on all the positive reviews, and were not as impressed as we had hoped. The service was fantastic - the waitress paid special attention to our little boy and was very accommodating. We were surprised to find that the prices were much higher than some of the chain restaurants, such as Perkins or Denny's. The food was not substantially better than those places either. We paid about $30 for two small breakfasts and an even smaller one for our baby. We will return to this restaurant some day, but we are still searching for the perfect neighborhood diner!

go and try their omelets...you will not be disappointed! Very small restaurant, with seating that is hard to find, but worth the wait. Open from around 6 am to 2 pm. Very good breakfast food.

Eggie's offers a wide variety of breakfast items, their French Toast is thick and lightly coated with powered surgar and cinnamon. Restaurant is a little cramped and extremely busy on Sunday mornings.

My family has been going to Eggies for over 13 years! I am particularly fond of Eggs Benedict, and they have an awesome version called the "My Way". It comes with tons of hollandaise sauce, so don't go here if you're on a diet!

Sure, the place is a little dingy and small, but the food is great and the prices astounding. One of the very few great values left around. I have same same waitress on two trips, very nice, great service and filling food. They'll make it anyway you want it, so ask away. They have great specials. Just a heads up though, they only accept cash, so bring your wallet though you will only need a few bucks for a great meal. Ignore the decor and enjoy the meal.

Pros: Best breakfast value in town and service that cares.

Cons: In definite need of a remodel inside

We wanted to try something new, after checking the reviews we decided to go to Eggies. It was clearly a dissapointment!. The taste was nothing spectacular. Don't waist your time and try better a different place.

But, to be honest, everything we had -- eggs with "Italian sausage" that tasted like not much of anything, and french toast -- tasted like plastic.

We love Eggies. It is the place we go for our breakfeast on the weekends. I especially love the fact that they have a dish with hashbrowns, broccoli, potatos and holandaise sauce I do not eat eggs. The service is great and you get a good deal.

Eggs are not as easy to make as people think. Most places make 'em too hard or too runny. Eggies knows how to make scrambled light and fluffy and over easy or hard just perfect. It's *almost* as good as I can make them at home.
