The food is excellent! I had the horseradish crusted salmon. Our waitress (Dana) was very nice & professional. A neat little place with unique atmosphere. If you're looking for a good place with great food in downtown Minneapolis go to

While waiting for a delayed flight, being hungry from a full day of travel, I popped into Ikes at the MPSP airport. The menu was pricey for burgers and sandwiches but I elected to stay. While scanning the menu I thought the turkey club

Every time I go back here I seem to love their burger more. With all of the different options to choose from my taste buds are never bored! This is a nice juicy burger.

We LOVE Ike's! Their hamburgers are one of the best I've ever had. We've never had a bad thing on the menu. Happy Hour is great too. Definitely try the Lobster Corndogs! We always wanted to try the brunch, but could never make it over there before we moved. I've heard it's fantastic!

We spent the weekend downtown and decided to catch brunch at Ike's. I'm so glad we did. The atmosphere is "Rat Pack" clubbish. We ordered the "all-you-can-eat" Brunch, which consisted of eggs, hashbrowns, pancakes, sausage and bacon (and a few other choices). Oh, did I mention the plate-sized breakfast roll topped with a pat of butter the size of Rhode Island? And to top it all off my husband had a Bloody Mary that was a meal unto its own. Can't wait to go back!

Bartenders are brusque and unfriendly. The service we received was very slow and impersonal even though the bar was not busy. We never received the food we ordered and had to leave to catch our flight after half an hour of waiting. They forgot to put our order in and we never got refills on our beverages or asked for a second drink.

The ambience is cool but the food is delicious. I really like the burger/fries, the beef sandwich, the guacamole, the breakfast with the bloody mary and huge pastry. What else? My review isn't very excited but this place rules!

I went to Ike's for dinner before attending a show at Orchestra Hall. I was please with the ambiance of the bar, but everything else was sub- par. The menu was over priced, so my group of four decided to share some appetizers. The lobster corn dogs were not edible. The potstickers were alright, and the ribs were delicious but the portion was unbelievably unjustified for the price of the plate. The bloody MAry was pretty good and I enjoyed having the homeade cookies at the end of the meal. Overall, the place was disappointing. The food was sub par and the service wasn't any better.
PRO- complimentary cookies with your bill
CON- Crowded and overpriced

6 months ago, I was an Ike's fan. I've been there 20 - 30 times over the past 5 years -- yet, the last two times have been horrible. In sum, the biggest challenge is inept service that has an entitled air -- one that suggest that YOU are lucky to eat there. We sat at the bar this last time and our bartender had to be flagged down for a first drink as he was too busy flirting with single women, flagged down later (after 10 minutes of effort) for new drinks, catsup for burgers, etc.

Our entire meal was messed up with our appetizer coming with our entrees (how long DOES guacamole take anyway?); our burger did not come as ordered; the bloody mary tasted like tomato juice without any zest or excitement; and when we asked for sauce the waiter was aggressive and confrontational. I'm not sure what Ike's is thinking, but, a waiter feeling like they can point at there name tag and correct a patron on how to address them, is NOT acceptable.

Our night ruined, we discussed the horrible experience with the hostess. "Oh (shoulder shrug), sorry," was the mature response of management. Kudos to Ike's on loosing a fan and having ruined our celebration that night.

Do NOT go here -- you WILL be disappointed.

Went in after a show at Orchestra Hall, ordered a bottle of wine but we weren't told by the waiter that they close at 10:00. While drinking said wine, we were told to drink up as they were closed and wanted to leave; chugging the wine, we left along with several other patrons. Called the next day, asked for manager, was asked for my contact information as manager was out tending to some financial matter.

Sharky, the manager, called back quickly. Listened politely as I explained that when we asked for a bottle, we should have been informed that the place had closed, or was going to close very soon; he agreed, apologized and then asked for information about waiter, said he would talk to the guy. Offered to send me a gift certificate as a way of making up for it. All very polite and understanding...THAT is good customer service.

One bartender there is very rude. We had to flag him down everytime we wanted another round of drinks. He needs to get into a different career because he has no clue and has an attitude.

We enjoyed ourselves very much, the food seemed quite nice for the price. Not a huge menu but plenty for casual dining. Space was a little tight, seems similar to Harry's Food on Washington Ave but they have much more space(big booths).

The place is decent enough, but not fantastic. We stopped in for a couple of Irish coffees and some appetizers. The appetizers were so-so (fish tocos were good, but ribs were recycled), but the Irish coffees were the worst. It seemed a bit strange that the bartender had to "disappear" to make them - usually they build a drink in front of you so you can see what's what. Not this time. He takes off to some cubby hole away from the bar and then returns: "Ta dah" - here they are: luke warm and - I swear - no whiskey. So we asked him about it in a nice way and in a nice way he gets us two more on the house. A nice gesture, but two times bad is not good, it's just double bad. At first we thought maybe their mistaken opinion of Irish coffee might be using Baleys instead of Irish whiskey, but the drinks were too weak even for that. Who knows what they're doing there, but I suggest you stick to the beers and the tacos. One nice thing is that during happy hour the appetizers are two for one, which is good because I would have been extra angy if I really had to pay $12.00 for that dried out mini slab of leather that they called ribs. With so many nice places around, I would choose another place to really eat and drink, but this is okay for a quick one.

Cons: The food and drinks quality isn't that great

Gone to Ike's a few times and the experience is usually the same with one or two exceptions. The atmosphere is great and the food is good with the brunch being the highlight, but the service is often spotty to awful to downright rude.
The last visit was for brunch and we had reservations. The hostess was completely clueless and did not seat us until 15minutes after arrival even thought the table was available just not bussed. The server did come by, nor did anyone come by for 20 minutes until we finally flagged someone down. The waitress was actually quite nice, but the waitress for the group next to us was very rude to the table. We both were celebrating birthdays.
I love the weekender Bloody Mary, but I will find other options on a Sunday especially for a group. The food is good, but not outstanding and not enough to sustain another try. Such a disapointment considering Mpls ever changing food scene as of late. I know it's a chain of sorts but I expected better.

Wandered around and stumbled upon Ike's late at nite. The hostess was friendly and helpful when we asked to see a menu, she gave a great suggestion for desert. The rediculous chocolate cake was rediculously good and so was the quesadila. Nice place!

We must have come on an off night, because it was the worst dining experience in memory. The place is mostly a bar, no matter where you sit, there is the huge bar right next to you. The food was absolutely awful. Nothing was good. The steaks were over done, even the waitress insisted that we send them back when she saw them. There was a weird spice mix on them, which was not on the menu and was not edible. The dessert (a fudge something or other) was rock hard, it about flew off my plate when I tried cutting into to. We took another couple here for a special dinner, and spent well over $200. It was embarrassing to "treat" them to such a poor meal. The next day I just had to call and tell them how awful it was, and the manager was not helpful at all. I emailed the owner and never heard back. I have never wanted to demand my money back from a restaurant before now, but I wish I had. It was just bad bad bad. I wish I would have stuck with the burgers, I hear they are the only good thing on the menu.

Hands down the best burger I have ever had in the Twin Cities. It sends Matt's and the 5-8 packin'. Come back for brunch (with a group!) and order up one of their ginormous bloodies. So delicious!

The WEEKENDER is a Bloody Mary that is a MEAL! It is served only during the weekend brunch hours, but it is worth the trip! They pack so much in this drink, you won't need to order from the menu, but don't miss their appetizers. Lots of variety and plenty to choose from. Fabulous!

The cocktails were expensive as was the wine by the glass. My shrimp dinner was twice as expensive as the hamburger which came on a plate, but mine came in a basket. The shrimp were overdone with breading that was very thick. I thought the decor was very nice. The waiter was in my opinion too familiar with us and referred to us as kids which we were not. I think I would try the small plates next time.

This used to be a favorite of ours until a recent trip. They told us the only available seating was at the bar when there was an empty table right behind us. Although we are repeat customers, it seems we always have to pull teeth to get a decent seat even though we always go after the lunch rush. The last time we were there, when we asked to see menus, our particularly sassy male server laughed in our faces and never came back to the table. As a server myself, I was confounded by his reaction to our modest request. To our relief, he passed us off to another server who was much more professional. However, the usually delicious burgers arrived overdone. There's way too much competition in this town to ever have to pay fifteen dollars for a burger delivered with this kind of attitude again.

I visited Ike's this weekend with a group of friends and was well satisfied, with the minor exception of five guy being sat at a bar table that was a bit too small. The menu offers a great variety, but the rack of ribs, and Ike's claim that they are made in a fashion similar to the now defunct Pickled Parrot, caught my attention. From what I can remember, Ike's makes good on its claim, and the ribs were both meaty and reasonably spicy. A bit steep at $23 for a decent-sized platter, but I enjoyed them. Other meals were fine, especially the walleye special. Drinks are a strong point - good pours and OK values. Try Ike's - the atmosphere is great and you'll enjoy the food and people watching!

Can't decide what to have for breakfast: Pecan roll or pancakes? Sausage or bacon? Hashbrowns? Is the reality of a buffet brunch a little less than appetizing? Steam tables and hash browns weren't made to go together. Well, you can have it all at Ike's (minus steam table). As soon as you're seated a warm bowling ball sized buttered caramel pecan roll is set on your table for everyone to dig into. Then place your order for your eggs: Scrambled eggs with chives and big melting cubes of cream cheese served with toast, eggs benedict, an omelette, or a breakfast quesadilla. When your eggs arrive it comes with a family size all-you-can eat platter of hot off the griddle hash browns, sausage patties, thick cut bacon, and pancakes. Delicious food, friendly service and freshly squeezed juice made to order. And you still receive warm chocolate chip cookies with your bill.

Ike's captures the ambience of the hidden eateries of New York and Chicago. The interior balances an initial masculine feeling with whimsical pieces and nostalgia. If youre in search of one of the best breakfast haunts in the Twin Cities, Ikes is your answer.

The bar offers selection and service that is good, but can be better. Attention to details and knowing what the product serves tastes like is a lost bartending art. While not exclusive to Ikes, the bar is an area that can improve. Pricing is within the norm with a great selection of premium liquors or the oft-sought Grain Belt Premium Beer, a lost local favorite, is exceptional. Although 1919 Root Beer on tap would fit perfectly with the food & bar menu.

Ikes a resounding success that needs a clone elsewhere in our community soon.

The hostess forgot about us, and we waited forever for a table and never got one. Finally we just sat at the bar; the menu only has a few items, and all were very expensive. The drinks we had while looking at the menu were outrageously priced: $7 for a small mixed drink. The service was so slow we ended up going down the street so we could eat that night.

The chopped salad is absolutely the best item on the menu. It was probably the largest salad I have ever seen and had plenty of toppings including mouth-watering grilled chicken. The bread served with the salad was also very good. I've heard that the meat entrees here are not that good. I woudn't know. I will never order anything except the chopped salad.

Don't get slip up like I did bringing a group of 10 people! They had 1 table available for us.

However, food was good. Decor was nice and the servers/bar tenders are helpful.

Excellent place to take a simple, going for a neutral-type place, date or to hook up with a bud before a game. Loud and proud...you gotta like the busy life to enjoy this place.

Definately go back again. They make real guacamole, malts are good and there is a reason their burgers are ranked.

This place is cool.

Excellent place to take a simple, going for a neutral-type place, date or to hook up with a bud before a game. Loud and proud...you gotta like the busy life to enjoy this place.

Definately go back again. They make real guacamole, malts are good and there is a reason their burgers are ranked.

This place is cool.

.

The menu may not be straight out of the new millenium, but that doesn't mean a classic steak or burger has place in mainstream dinning.
This place is NEAT to say the very least. Great atmosphere, good cocktails, hey... they even serv breakfast!
I can be a food snob, however, I will haunt this place until the day I die.
GO AND EXPERINCE SOMETHING COOL!!!!

Step in Ike's and you feel like you've gone back in time to a classy joint from the 50's or something. However, we went with a group (6-7 people) after work, and it really wasn't the place for that purpose. No happy hour specials, limited seating for more than 4 people in a group. Good drinks, though, at expected prices. I'd recommend meeting one or two friends for an intimate conversation here, but don't expect to bring the whole gang!

Pros: great atmosphere, classy, unique

Cons: not for groups, very smoke-filled, some pretention

Although we loved the atmosphere, we ordered a burger off the late night menu and at $9.95 it was one of the most expensive burgers at a bar we've had, plus it was the absolute worst burger we have ever had. Lots of gristle!!! Maybe they got a bad batch of meat, but we said something to the wait staff and got "oh" in response. Stick to the beer and ice cream.

Pros: great seating, fun quotes, fun menu

Cons: icky burgers, so-so waitress

Great atmosphere but disappointed in the food. Ordered appetizers at the bar and enjoyed the quesadillas but the rest weren't good. The crabcakes were extremely fishy.

I've been to Ike's 3 times since it has opened; once for dinner, and twice for cocktails and small plates. When we went for dinner, the place was hoppin' and the music matched the theme (50's lounge). I hate televisions in restaurants. The service we had was unfortunately quite bad. Our waiter acted totally out of it. He was spacing drink orders AS we gave them to him. The steak was OK. I like the rub but it seemed flavorless otherwise. All in all a blah evening. The nights we went for cocktails were better servicewise, but the televisions and 80's music ruined the mood. The burger (very good) made up for it partially however. The wine list is weak (no big reds on the thing at all), but the fries are delightful. If they'd ditch the televisions and Duran Duran, i might go back.

These guys spared no expense in this place. The bathrooms are even luxurious (with tv's above the men's urinals and cloth hand towels!)

The only minor blemish I can report is that we were slightly confused with the lack of a hostess when we first walked in - I believe it is always seat yourself, but I'm not sure since it was 10:15 on a Friday night when we went (and full, but we were able to get a table right away after asking a server about an empty table that a couple had just left from).

The $5 valet (pay in advance) is a great deal, and the guys are very fast. We seriously got our car delivered back to us in less than 30 seconds! There's also a self park ramp 10 feet from the door, but why bother when valet is $5.

We'll definately be back soon.

I tried Ike's this past weekend and enjoyed the surroundings, service and food. I got the seafood broil which was tasty but there could have been more on the plate. My husband had a steak. The meals come with a cup of soup and salad. The salads have everything on them. I tried a pink squirrel which was good. The cookies were good too. Service was excellent, even got a good recommendation on the wine. We'll be back.

We went for the burgers. The service was excellent even after he put our burgers on hold for 45 minutes. He appologized and initially offered some drinks to us, but then he also gave us the burgers for free. The food itself was wonderful and different as you would get it in a different restaurant. The ambiance was neet. This is the perfect place to have a Burger deluxe and some cocktails.

Ikeis is old-school. Stuck in a long, narrow space, wedged between two steakhouses, it's the big-city bar from the '40s where your grandfather could have been pictured hanging with his buddy, Smitty. You'll find hand-carved roast beef…

Wait, you're the expert.
