I love going to the Lagoon theater. It isn't a huge box with stadium seating, but more more cozy. They show great independent films and there are a ton of places nearby to grab a bite to eat before or after your flick.

A nice classic theatre. People may complain about the price of this theatre, but it's as cheap or cheaper than seeing a movie in many other cities still, and I'd rather support a theatre like Lagoon that strives to maintain independant movies (and does so quite well) than a gigantic 20 screen theatre that is playing nothing but the latest hollywood re-makes. Lagoon does validate parking in their lot, but only for an hour, and you'll be hard pressed to spend less than an hour watching a movie. Try to go when meters are free, and you're solid.

Lagoon shows quality independent films and its a good place to go, not any better or any worse than Uptown. Granted Lagoon is not ultra-cheap, but I was able to catch a freebie every now and then, so to me it averages out not so bad. Make sure to go early if you think movie youre planning on watching will be popular lines can get really long. Even better, buy tickets early and have a dinner at one of the many Uptown restaurants for a nice date night. Try to park at a meter though, since Lagoons parking lot is not cheap.

PROS: independent movies
CONS: parking is difficult

So suburbanites don't like this theater because it's "too expensive" ($1.50 more than an AMC matinee, stop whining) and "not as good" (something about stadium seating). This place is great, period, and when your movie gets out you'll have things to do and places to go instead of being stuck in a mall.

We had tickets for a 5 pm showing of one of the 'big' movies. Lagoon's Time-Warner partner, Moviefone, oversold the show by many-many tickets. The Lagoon managment, Kim from Seattle specifically, took it in stride and was able to reorganize the showings, move a couple of showings to their sister site the Uptown and keep the patrons happy.

I've been to many of the movies at both sites, and have always come away pleased. This time I was totally impressed. A true service company.

Pros: Service top notch, Price, Best shows

I want these people to stop holding the good movies hostage! The theatres are tiny, the sound crap, the help snide... Oh, and only 1 show per day at matinee price. Highway robbery.

Other than the Oak Street and U-Film Society, the Lagoon is one of the only places to find a good or not so good "art house" film.
