The breakfast prices seemed high and breakfast fare was below average.

It was not an overly early, busy or understaffed day.

Poached Eggs - were as hard as a golf ball and about as warm

Hash-browns - were burnt black on the hidden

Every time we go to any of the Keys we always have good food served in huge portions. They are busy though and some of the waitresses are crabby, abrupt, or just barely available. There is one server at the Lexington & Larpenteur Keys that is great every time though and always has a smile and a kind word for us and everyone she serves. She seems to genuinely care how everything is and if she can get anything more for her customers. I even noticed her limp and as a rehab massage therapist asked her about it and turns out she needs to have both her knees replaced! She's a tough cookie who smiles through it all and makes sure her own discomfort does not get in the way of her service. Thank goodness the fast moving and perfectly nimble waitress we first had this morning got fed up when we didn't know what we wanted the minute we sat down and rudely turned us over to our favorite waitress otherwise little Mrs. too busy to bother with the likes of you would have found herself short of a tip. I should think by now that any waitress with a brain in her head would know that her tips will go up if she takes just a moment to smile and connect with her customer and allow them to enjoy their time and meal at the pace in which they choose.

Pros: Homemade and plenty of it

Cons: They need to coach all of their servers to be consistently customer friendly.

The food is pretty good, but as the title says, the service can be horrible. For example, the last time I was there the waitress told right after dropping off our food that we shouldn't expect to see her again, it was too busy. Or there was the time we were waiting for a table and passed by numerous waitresses, all of whom ignored us like we were pieces of furniture and didn't say a word to us about the expected wait, etc. Like the reviewer below says, they act like they are doing you a favor.

I've been to Key's for breakfast twice, and it was good both times. They have delicious eggs benedict (they even substitute bacon for ham if you want) and their hashbrowns are some of the best I've had - with some crisp to them, but not too much, and great flavor. This place has a small town feel to it, with outdated furnishings and family pictures covering the walls. Great place, I highly recommend it for breakfast.

Been to Keys several times at several locations and I do understand what type of person gives this place a good review. The breakfast prices are way out of line and the breakfast fare is so far below average. A standard farmer breakfast should never pop a five except for tip - I may give a 6 - but certainly NOT a ten!

The food, service and prices were very good at one time in the past. I went in with my mouth practically drooling in memory of good food. This experience was bad, bad, bad. I ordered a pecan roll to go. I received a bland tasting pecan roll that was priced at $2.40 for small portioned roll. No butter, or fork or napkin without asking. All I could think was what a rip off. They have their own deals. Instead of two for the price of one like some restaurants, in this one you pay for two and get one. I don't plan on returning to this restaurant, I would rather spend my hard earned money on good food.

This is the place to go when you are craving a home made hot turkey sandwich with REAL turkey from the bone, REAL mashed potatoes and GRAVY on home baked bread. The portions are huge and the taste is like grandma made it with love. I don't go anywhere else.

I read the many negative reviews of Keys. I can tell you what the problem is: The Raymond Ave. location. Personally I love Keys, even the Raymond location - however at the Raymond store, they are smaller, busier and have a more limited menu. However, the food is still very good and huge portions (I'm a big eater). The better service & menu is at the Downtown MPLS location (on Nicollet & 10th?). Try the Bowl of Soup & Whole Sandwich combo. Comes with a huge sandwich, a big bowl of soup, a pile of chips and a choice of desserts for under $8. Tell me that's not a deal.

Pros: Portion Size, Multi-location

Cons: Differing menus, Differing Mgmt.

The wait staff acts like they are doing you a favor
to serve you. the food is average and with all the problems parking its way over rated.
the people who are writing how good this place is are no doubt the owners.
Like my father told me "you don't have to wear a coon skin cap to trap someone" so save yourself a headache and a hassle keep driving past this place.

Cons: greasy, under cooked, greazzzy

while working close by the Keys on Robert St I called in my lunch order giving them two hours lead time. When I showed up to pick up my order they blithely left me sitting at the counter for half an hour before telling me that they never even started my take out order. This happened not once but twice. Both times the attitude was "Why should we care about one order when the whole place is full?" Will NEVER go there or to any other Keys again.

YES, by far the best breakfast ANYWHERE! GREAT lunch too, and when we're in Minneapolis for the day or weekend, we make a point to schedule at least one meal at one of the Keys! The busy, noisy, stimulating atmosphere is fun - WE LOVE IT!!

I have been to 4 locations.
Food average to poor, price average, usually unclean inside and out. Customer service lacking. With the exception of White Bear Lake, three were in "not so good" areas.
Overall: very disappointing.
I was not not impressed would reccomend that no one go to Keys Cafe unless you are starving and there is no where else to go!
