Went to Hell's Kitchen for the very first time last night (July 10, 2010) to see the band Sum of All...the service was outstanding, very friendly and fast, the food was delicious! and Sum of All was kick ass! The location was easy to find and parking was easy as well, and that is saying A LOT for being downtown Minneapolis!

I look forward to going back to Hell's Kitchen!

First time we have been out on a "date night" in a long time and had an awesome time. All of the staff was very friendly and welcoming. Food was great, great drinks, and prompt service. Thanks Jenny for being so courteous and answering all our questions. Sum Of All was outstanding!!!! Hope they will be back in Hell's Kitchen again. Couldn't ask for a better night.

I have been here for both breakfast and lunch. They have great food, if you like spicy food! I thought their prices were reasonable and the servers are great. My coworkers and I went here for lunch as a large group and the restaurant was accommodating and wonderful.

This place is so overrated. I have given Hell's Kitchen several chances and each time am sorely disappointed. I'll never go back- Rossi's was so much better!

Pros: yummy food! love the brakefast

Cons: slow and rude service

I completely agree with the editorial review....so for the bulk of what I think, please see and look for insider tip.

I will however like to comment on my food...the eggs and black beans w/ wallop of salsa. First off, a scoop (they call it a wallop) of salsa or sour cream is $1ea +$1.35 for cheese. My eggs with black beans, which are two of the cheapest foods on the face of the earth with "wallops" and cheese cost $8.60...cooked well, but the salsa was sweet and didn??t go well with the beans or eggs. Also, the multigrain bread was good and I could tell it was high quality.

Atmosphere is cool, but i don't think it really goes well for a group of hungry guys trying to get their crush on after a long night out on the town. I felt like it would've been better if I was a women with a pair of Lisa Loeb glasses on with a book in my hand and an angry look on my face.

Try this place out if you have plenty of time as service was kinda slow. Might be better place for dinner based on the quality of the menu.

3 stars just b/c I went for breakfast. Based on the quality of food, if I was there for lunch or dinner, it would probably be a 4.

I chose Hells Kitchen for a bacholerette dinner for my sister and her friends after much research, I took a small group of ladies under the age of 21 to this establishment for a nice dinner, but was very very very unhappy from the moment we walked in to the time we left. Our server messed up our orders, the time to even order was almost 40 minutes, he was very rude and did not come back to check on us like he should have instead he was at the bar chatting it up with friends and other staff, i made reservations and we came on a thursay night, it wasn't busy, therfore i didnt understand the poor service. Most of our food was cold, but didnt want to bother the server since he rarely showed up and it took way to long to order and recieve our food the first time, after all this the night was farther ruined with a man begging for money at the main door and the length for our dinner service cut into the limo time i had set up for my sister to tour the town. We were very well behaved with manners but were not treated that way at all. Was a big disapointment for all of us, we were all excited to see what Hells Kitchen had to offer us.

i even wrote to the owner of Hell's kitchen, i did get one response back wanting some more details of my trip to Hell's kitchen, after that i have not heard back, it has almost been a month =(

I went out for a late night dinner and although it was close to their close, they were happy to take us in and the server was very nice. However, after ordering the $16 burger, the fries looked like McDonalds, but tasted worst and were luke warm. The burger didn't taste like anything special either, so if you are at all money-conscience, I would not suggest going there because after the $60 tab, I was left pretty much regretting my decision.

I was very excited for the new hells kitchen to open downtown. I love the large space they have and food. It is also right next to my work and was excited to have a new after work spot to hang w the rest of my coworkers. Sadly I was extremely offended by the service we recieved and refuse to go back. On more than one occasion we recieved terrible attitude and service. First occasion I asked the bartender about the wine list and a recommendation. He said he had no idea and had no knowledge about any of them. Ok fine. Next time we go in and theres a diff bartender who looks like hes 18. We ask for a food menue and a drink which he brings. He then goes to the other side of the bar to talk to his friends who are the only other people there and to do shots with them. He ignores us for over 15 minutes. When get his attention and try to order food he announces that "the kitchen just closed like a minute ago." Well that wouldve been nice to know when you gave us the food menues that we asked for 20 minutes ago... Not to mention the menue and sign say the kitchen hours which advertise the kitchen should be open in the afternoon....so we ask for the bill and when we need change he says that he just counted his drawer so he cant give us change. We ask what were supposed to do then and he suggests that we walk down the hall to the other side of the restaurant where there is supposed to be another bar and that the bartender over there may have change that is if he hasnt counted his drawer yet either. really? has this person ever served before?

We arrived unaware of the necessity to get a reservation. One of the three hostesses took our name and told us it would be about 45 minnutes. We sat down at the bar prepared to patiently wait for a table. We were sitting at the bar for 10 minnutes before we asked a passing barback for a drink. In that first ten minnutes I scanned the restaurant to check it out as this was a new place to me only to notice that there were 6 empty tables in the room I was in (Ironic considering the 45 min. wait) The bartender was busy making drinks for the servers and on occasion would look around but unfortunately for the patrons she would stare over the top of the heads of the people sitting at the bar at god knows what. After I finnished my bloody mary I sat waiting another 15 min. until our pager went off without being offered another drink.
We were sat by one of the three hostesses leaving two behind to hold down the front door. Our server showed up several minnutes after being seated to ask if we wanted something to drink we both ordered went for the bottomless cup of coffee which I was able to find the bottom of twice. He failed to notice that our menus were closed which is a strong indication that people know what they want to eat. 20 minnutes after being seated our server decided to take our order. We had the Toasted sausage bread, Huevos rancheros, and Crab cake with poached egg and holindase. The food was excellent and came out in a flash after we ordered it (good to know the kitchen staff is good at their job) my only beef with the food is that the plate with the crab cake wasn't really full could have thrown another piece of toast or some more fruit to fill it up. Aside from that the food was delicious. As we were finnishing my girlfriend asked for a box for her remains only to have our server drop one off then disappear for 15 minnutes before we saw him again to ask for a check which resulted in another 10 minnute wait for him to show up with it and then disappear for another 10 minnutes to run the tab. By the time we left the restaurant was about half empty and there were two groops of people at the front door waiting to be seated by the three hostesses. (F'ing rediculus)
Note: If you are going to claim to have a bottomless cup of coffee, THEN KEEP IT COMING! The service was amature at best and absolute BS as far as I am concerned and if it wern't for the food I would have given this review 1 star. Nedless to say the visit will not be folowed up again as it was just too frustrating to sit through again.

Cons: Staff is not alert or eager to work

brunch on Sunday packed and we were informed by the hostess of a 2 hour wait and to make a red next time. My thumbs up for the old place is a thumbs down for the new. We actually heard the hostess snicker at the family in front of us and snidely whisper to the other hostess that the lady should have made her reservation 4 days in advance. We will not return. We happily enjoyed mannys brunch instead.

My husband and our 17 month-old came in for breakfast on my birthday and were quoted a 15 minute wait time (we also called ahead and were told 15 minutes). That's really our maximum because our toddler gets antsy, as all toddlers do. After 30+ minutes we had to leave, with our daughter fussy and me the pregnant starving birthday girl disappointed at their inaccuracy. I was a hostess/server for 5 years and never did this, especially to a family with small children. While I appreciate that the wait time is much less than it use to be, they are inaccurate with the quoting of time. Also, the address listed here on citysearch is their old address, so we drove around confused. Guess I will never know how good the food supposedly is....

I was online searching for new restaurants to go to and Hell's Kitchen came up here. It was seriously amazing. I've seen a few bad reviews about service so I was a little leary about that, but I honestly dont know what any of those people were talking about. Our server was smiley and upbeat, and happily answered all of our annoying questions! We made reservations for a Friday night (which was a great idea because they were pretty busy), our food came out in 15 minutes piping hot which was delivered by one of their food runners who greeted us with a big smile and made sure we had everything that we needed. Food was more than we anticipated, service was great, atmosphere was unique and fun, prices were definitely reasonable. I will definitely be back, and I would highly recommend it.

The best breakfast, hands down! OMG!! I always get the hot chocolate, carmel pecan roll, delish bread for the amazing peanut butter and then the corned beef hash! Then, I get hot chocolate mix and peanut butter to go. They sell a bunch of the products which make fun holiday gifts. I think the coffee 'restores virginity.' The new location's ambience is fantastic, gothic, scary but the fireplace room is fairly subdued and sophisticated. Bathrooms are a trip. I do not like the parking though.

i read a few reviews below me, and i don't know what happened to them, but i can't get enough of this place! i went in for brunch the other week and there was live gospel music which was, to say the least, a great surprise! i had lemon ricotta pancakes and bison sausage. ALWAYS fantastic, i wake up craving that stuff. Then I went back again last thursday for breakfast, it wasnt as crazy busy, so that was nice. service was good, food was hot, i've never really had a problem with any of that. I had manohmin (sp?) porridge with eggs and toast so i could eat some of that peanut butter (YUM). And i'm always happy when my over-medium eggs actually come out over-medium!
I'd recommend this place to anyone, really.

I had formerly written a good review here, but I had to come back and rewrite it after my most recent experience.

I went here quite a few times for lunch before they moved, and loved it. The food was great, and the wait staff were sometimes curt but always efficient and professional. Well, after hyping it to friends for months, we went for dinner a few weeks ago. It was not a good experience. Our waiter was friendly when he actually showed up to our table, but completely useless otherwise. He ignored us every time we tried to get his attention, and we could see him standing and talking to other waiters while they all neglected their tables. We were there for a miserable two hours and were asked ONCE if we wanted drink refills - at the very end of the meal when our dishes were removed - and most of us were having expensive beers/mixed drinks. I know the owners pride themselves on treating their employees well and not letting customers walk all over them, but I think they have let discipline slide way too far. The food is just as good as ever, but it's not enough to get me to go back ever again. Don't go here unless you have hours to kill and endless patience for poor service.

Just as the previous poster indicated, the wait is ridiculous!! And it's been like that ever since they opened. The hostesses are rude and make you feel like you're a nuisance for even coming into the place. Their excuse as to why so many tables are open (and told us we had an hour wait) is because they didn't want the kitchen to be so backed up. What does that tell you? They're more concerned about their kitchen not following through, than they are with serving their customers. Their place is so huge, they should accommodate us! There were no apologies, and not even a "thank you" from the manager when we left.
This place doesn't live up to the hype it's received. The food is average. Definitely never going back unless they make some changes.

Reservation for lunch at noon; was sitting fairly quickly; however, left restaurant at 1:15 when our lunch had still not arrived and our waiter could not tell us how much longer we would have to wait. Their only comment was that they were "backed up" and busy. There were plenty of empty tables! Would hate to be there when all their tables are full. Do not go unless you have HOURS to wait.

We went at about 7pm on a Saturday night and waited about 30 minutes for a table, which was expected without reservations. The place was full but there was definitely enough service people running around. Long story short, we had to ask twice before we got refills, server never brought a side of salad dressing after being asked twice and they never sent out more chips for the appetizer. We started with the chips and beans which came out with about 10 chips on it for the 3 of us. Oh and the salsa for the chips was about 4 tablespoons. I had the bison burger which was decent but nothing special. All I can really say is that the food was very average for the whole party.
It was definitely one of those meals where you leave very frustrated that you just spent $18 for a burger and fries.

Went to HK with family last weekend and had a very poor experience. We had been to the old location several times before for breakfast and every time the food and service were great. We were excited to have breakfast in the new location which, appropriate to the restaurant's name, is below ground level in the old Rossi's location. My husband called the day before and asked if they took breakfast reservations and he was told no reservations. We got there Sunday morning and were told we would be behind several reservations (um, we thought there were no reservations) and the wait would be 45 minutes. The hostess desk staff seemed overwhelmed and disorganized. After waiting 45 minutes, we were seated and waited another 10 minutes before anyone came over to give us menus. We then waited another 15 minutes before our crazed server with too much going on took our orders. We were an hour into the wait for our food and noticed several tables seated after us had already received their food. At that point, our server came over and told us our order had been lost due to a glitch while they were resetting their credit card system. He asked if we would like to re-place our orders or talk to a manager. We asked to speak with a manager...and waited 15 minutes before my mother-in-law went to find the manager herself because no one had come over. The mgr had not been informed of our situation but came over to speak to us in a bratty tone about how this technical glitch had happened before. We were informed our food order was indeed entered in again. I had to ask for bread because we all had the jitters, including my diabetic father-in-law. When the food FINALLY came out, it was fantastic (including my wild rice porridge, fruit plate and sweet potatoe fries) and they comped the whole meal. When you go, be prepared for good food but a long wait and a "whatever" attitude from the staff.

Pros: Great food, fun concept

Cons: Long wait and poor service

I am now depressed and cannot eat breakfast anywhere again and be happy. This place is rediculous: Pancakes, buffalo sausage, shrimp cakes, cinnamon rolls, whatever. It's all unique and special. Their homemade peanut butter is sooo good. It is huge and you better have reservations on the weekend. The wait staff wear pjs and are great. Very, very highly recommended.

Was it the move? Last time I was at Hell's Kitchen in the old digs, the coffee, food, and experience were fantastic. This time the front of the house seemed intimidated by the crowd, which at no time overwhelmed the space. The coffee tasted burned. The waitress was one of the worst I've ever had. She left us for an unusually long time before we even ordered, and then we waited almost an hour for our food. She was inattentive, distracted, and unapologetic about the wait, and we practically had to beg her for water. She handed us as many plates and cups as she could, and the ones she did set down she placed carelessly close to the edge. My vegetable frittata was tiny and underwhelming. The French toast was only okay. It was extremely disappointing, and I doubt I'll be returning to what was once one of my favorite spots for breakfast.

Jane and Michael Stern haven't been through Minneapolis for a while if they rate Hell's Kitchen's ham and pear panini as great road food. Mine came with a burnt French fry imbedded in the bottom, and the pears were canned--as were the pears in my out-of-the-bag house salad. Plus if the "brioche croutons" were ever anywhere near a brioche, I will sell my house and emigrate to France. My companion's Reuben was described as "okay," and the sweet potato fries were also right off the food service truck.

The room at the new location is stunning; more Christopher Moltisante's dream of hell than its previous Tony Soprano-esque incarnation as Rossi's. And there's lots of potential here, but the food is a slightly elevated version of Applebee's fare. Our server was pleasant and efficient, but what he brought was pretty sub-par.

And on a Sunday evening, no one had bothered to pick up the DIRTY disposable diaper from the floor of one of the ladies' room stalls. Or emptied the trash. Or replaced the paper towels.

I'd like Hell's Kitchen to succeed in this ambitious new space--and maybe even have live entertainment. But based on my first visit, it'll be a cold day in Hell.

Pros: Great "spooky" decor, good service

Cons: Food from Hell (at dinnner, anyway)

.

We went to the new location for brunch this past weekend, and I was disappointed by the poor service, expensive prices and small portions. My portobello mushroom Benedict, while tasty, cost $12.50 and consisted of a single egg atop a single mushroom cap with a slice of ham in between, covered in hollandaise. A small serving of hash browns and some fresh fruit completed the plate. I went away hungry and disappointed. The service was slow but not because they were too busy -- rather none of the wait staff seemed to have any sense of urgency, nor displayed appropriate attentiveness to our table nor those nearby. That may be a bad and unintended side effect of the wait staff wearing pajamas to work. Two tables near us waited an inordinate amount of time before being approached by anyone. One of those tables only got service after flagging down a bus person clearing a table. I pointed out the other table to our server, who told me it was not her section.

To the restaurant's credit the bloody marys were spicy, the food was very tasty (albeit small and not filling), the space is interesting and atmosphere fun. The live music was also a very nice touch.

If you enjoy reasonable to large size breakfast plates for the price, your money is likely better spent elsewhere. Otherwise if you're looking for tasty small portions, delicious bloody marys and a unique and fun atmosphere this might be the place for you, if you don't mind the wait for service.

Cons: Slow service, overpriced and undersized menu options

.

I love the new location! Much more spacious and you can see all of the steadman art collection. I love the breakfasts here. The sausage is uniquely sweet and spicy. The portions are perfect. Every time I go here I like it more. Now with the new location I think I might just be heading there for dinner instead of just breakfast!

We went here for a Co-workers birthday lunch. Breakfast for lunch - Awesome! I had the lemon ricotta hotcakes, and as they tell you on the menu, there is no syrup needed. We made reservations and got a great table. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful, and everyone in my party loved their food. We plan to visit again soon.

I gave it a try twice. Why is this popular?

Breakfast was passable, but slow to arrive and small. Soooo many better breakfast restaurants in town. Lunch was small and not that good. Waiter got order wrong even though I said it twice - I could tell he wasn't listening!

Two others with me had same opinions.

If there was one place in the Twin Cities to avoid its Rossi's Blue Star! While the steaks are great, they are extremely overpriced and served by some of the most repulsive arrogant waitstaff known to man, clearly a reflection of its management. Blue Star claims to be a jazz club but has insulted and angered nearly all of the Twin Cities finest jazz musicians and has treated veteran local musicians shoddy and disrespectful.
I attended a show at the Blue Star by jazz legend James Moody a few years ago and the tables closest to the stage were yelling and laughing while the 80 year old legend tried to perform, I was ashamed and couldn't believe I had paid such a high cover to hear a bunch of obnoxiously loud clueless people. The management allowed the disruptions to continue until I had to just leave.
Dont waste your time or money at this place, there are much better places to relax and listen to some of the finest jazz from around the world and from our vast local talent here in Minnesota.

This subterranean restaurant disappointed us in many ways. The prices were high ($49 for the house special steak). The steaks arrived luke-warm, were fatty and gristly to the point of being almost inedible. The side dishes of vegetables were heavily salted and also arrived luke-warm. The "freshly made" apple pie was obviously just microwaved, with a soggy crust, and again was barely warm. The service was intrusive to the point of making it uncomfortable to carry on a conversation amongst the guests. There are many other much better, less expensive steak houses in the Twin Cities. I will not come here again.

I ate lunch at Hell's Kitchen on June 24, 2008, and perhaps the name alone should have kept me away. I ordered the Porridge and the Huevos Rancheros. Half way through the Rancheros I felt something sharp in my mouth. What did I discover? A STAPLE in my food. A staple, can you believe it, bent and twisted, one swallow from heading down my throat. Management couldn't explain it and offered me a gift card for a return visit. Needless to say, I declined the offer and will NEVER return.

Don't confuse this with the TV Chef Ramsay namesake. This place is certainly much better!!

I am from San Francisco, a place that serves up a decent restaurant or two, and I eat here every time I am in the MSP. It is my favorite restaurant here. From the bison benedict to the huevos to the bloody marys to the home made peanut butter to the awesome cinnamon buns to the sausage bread to the walleye and chips to the . . . well, let's just say I am pleasantly surprised every time I come.

Despite the casual appearance of the decor and the gothic attire of the staff, this is a place that obviously pays attention to the details. The menu is fantastic, and foodies like me agonize becasue everything on the menu looks so good! And while a great menu sets high expectations that many restaurants can fall short on, Hell's Kitchen has a back of the house serving up plates that manage to exceed those expectations. Every plate looks great, and every dish I have had has been perfectly prepared.

Best of all, the wait staff has been very attentive every time I have eaten here, and it is obvious that they are proud to work here. You can see it in the way they carry themselves and in the way they interact with their customers. This is a very professional operation that deeply cares about its clientele -- a very interesting juxtaposition from its heavily tatooed, black, gothy & tattered devil-may-care exterior.

Props to you, Hell's Kitchen!!

UncleBad says -- I'll be damned: if eatin' in Hell is wrong, then I don't wanna be right.

The pork is the best. I've tried lots of places. Both expensive and cheap but no one comes close to Rossi's. I've decided not to try anymore places because I have been disappointed so many times. Rossi's kitchen staff knows how to cook it just perfect so that it is not overcook but thick and juicy. The serving size is the same as dinner's so go during happy hour for a great deal.

Walked in, (remember they MOVED to 80 S 9th St) and the people next to me whispered "it's worth it no matter how long." Oh god was he ever right. Joe had the huevos rancheros and could have died happy...i tried the lemon ricotta hotcakes and they DID melt in my mouth...server said "try them first without syrup"...after one bite i never even put syrup on! Menu made me come back for more...and boy did we ever...3 times in our 4 day visit to Minneapolis. Go go go! We don't even have a place lthis good in LA!

Cons: Wait out the door but they take reservations

The atmosphere is very nice. The music is good, and it's quiet enough that you can talk to the other people at your table. The service unfortunately was not good. Our server only came twice in the two hours we were there, and we were told we would have to pay a cover charge past a certain time, so we asked for our check and she mysteriously didn't come back until long after that time, so we were charged as a large group for the cover charge. When we spoke to the manager about it, the charge was removed but he was very combative and rude. Not impressed. The food is okay, but not worth the money. There are better ways to spend your money and your even more precious time.

I think when a restaurant is as busy as Hell's and can always pack them in regardless of bad service - they learn to not care. The food is excellent, no doubt. But, it is hard to enjoy a meal when you can't over the poor service. The 3 times I have been there the service was lousy. I was a waitress for many years, so I understand how hard a job it can be. However, all 3 times I was there, the waitstaff was rude. I understand when a place is busy, that the waitsfaff, through no fault of their own, is unable to come to your table often. However, that was not the case here - they just didn't care. I always tip 20-25% and ended up leaving 15%. It is management that allows this to happen. Until it starts affecting their business, I assume they won't take any steps to change this.

We just tried Hell's kitchen out today for the first time. We read on the website that it's a good idea to make a reservation so we did. We were sat right away in a room with great lighting and a fun decor. I had the fresh squeezed orange juice which was delicious! Their pancakes are a buttermilk/corn mixture and had a unique and flavorful taste. We're excited to go back and try out their lunch options. We'll definitely be back.

We were so excited this morning to finally try Hell's Kitchen. We've heard about it, read about it and drooled over it for about 6 months and this Saturday morning we got our butt's out of bed early and drove from St. Paul's east side just to go to downtown Mpls' Hell. Of course there was no free parking anywhere to be found which I expected so I paid 5 bucks in the paylot knowing it was well worth it. We went on inside where there were about 5 people milling about the door and drinking the free coffee while they waited and we thought "hm, not so bad of a wait." The servers were bustling around in their cute little pajamas amid the packed tables in the long, narrow restaurant but there was no one at the front for the first 5 minutes as we waited to get our name on the list. Finally a woman showed up in street clothes and spent another 5 minutes taking orders to go. Finally, she turned to us abruptly and asked if we'd been helped. We told her we'd like to put our name in for a table and she said "Ok but it will be an hour and a half wait." to which my husband exclaimed "There is no food worth an hour and a half standing here waiting!" and we promptly left. That was a very short trip to Hell. We walked away hungry, disappointed and a little wiser. If I can ever talk my husband into going back we'll be smart next time and make a reservation. Hell is a very busy place.

Everything is homemade and awesome. Must try the toasted sausage bread and their porridge-esque house specialty, which looks bizarre and is so different. Homemade jams are so good I bought jars to take home with me and for my family. In the 9 days I stayed in Minneapolis, I ate here 3 times. A great find!

This is my favorite place for breakfast. They've recently added some new items to their menu-but still kept some of my favorites (lemon-ricotta cakes, wild rice porridge). My daughter and her boyfriend are vegetarian, they had lots to choose from. Plus, their great coffee in huge cups is the best way to open your eyes on a cold, wintery morning.

I was apprehensive to try Hell's Kitchen- I had heard that the food was all spicy and hot (hence the name "Hell's Kitchen"). I gave it a shot anyways and was pleasantly surprised! Strange menu items make it fun and interesting and the food tastes great! They have homemade peanut butter too- yummy!! There was a wait to get a table, which was fine with me, generally thats a good thing :) Overall, I have nothing but great things to say about this restaurant. If you are in downtown Minneapolis, I highly suggest you drop by Hell's Kitchen and have a bite!

They have good appetizers and food, but the Happy Hour staff is the worst of all in Minneapolis. I've gone there a couple of times because of co-workers, but would never pick to go there. We were yelled at by one server once, they REFUSE to split bills, and mixed up our order 3 times wrong in one night. Wow. pathetic for an establishment that makes their wait staff dress in all white Chef's uniforms and aprons. The food is well priced and tastes good though, but don't tip for the service!

We were at Ninth & Nicollet to go to The Melting P*t, however they were unable to accomodate us (it was an hour and a half wait), so we walked next door to the Blue Star Room. Having never been there, we didn't know what to expect, but they were able to seat us right away. There was a $5 cover added to our bill for the evening's jazz entertainment, which wasn't a big deal once the band started - the live entertainment was appropriate and added ambience! My bf ordered the Ribeye, I the sirloin and crab cake. Dinner was good - nothing over the top outstanding (for steak, we typically frequent Morton's), but very good food, cooked to order, and great service. This place is reminicent of the Minneapolis Cafe (which I don't think exists anymore...) - fun, live entertainment, professional service, and good food. Dinner for two included our steaks, two sides ala carte, soup for him, salad for me, and drinks - and came to just over $170.00, including tip and the cover charge(s). Not bad!

We were at Ninth & Nicollet to go to The Melting P*t, however they were unable to accomodate us (it was an hour and a half wait), so we walked next door to the Blue Star Room. Pros: Live music, good food, good service

Cons: Smaller dining room/dining area

My husband and I enjoyed a lovely evening at Rossi's the other evening. The jazz was easy on the ears and the cosmos were not ridiculously priced. The view of the stage is good and the sound level is not ear shattering. I would recommend this venue for a nice evening on the town with your significant other or having a ladies night out. Not a pick-up place.

We had a group of co-workers to Rossi's and made a reservation days in advance. Not everyone showed up at the exact same time but within a matter of half an hour everyone was there. I spent that entire time arguing with Jay the manager, because he kept trying to give our table away. He is arrogant, mean and his entire staff hates his guts as much as his customers do. Terrible customer service and management skills. I will not return because of him alone. Our waiter was miserable having to work for Jay but he was attentive and nice.
The ambiance and food were good though but totally not worth the hassle, if I owned Rossi's I would be embarassed to have someone like that interacting with my customers. Dont order the fried mozzerella, its a slab of fried cheese, not mozzerella sticks, weird.

It`s definitely a place to go for jazz. Nice atmosphere, good music and big dessert!! 1 for two people is enough. ~~I will go back soon!

This is a favorite of my work group for lunch. The service has been great, and the food is a little on the odd side, which makes it great! I love that you can have breakfast at 12:30pm, and they do great sandwiches. If you are looking for a restaurant with a little style, and a lot of taste, this is the place.

I love the Minneapolis Hell's Kitchen and was super excited to try their new Duluth location, but at first I had heard some not so great things... slow kitchen, poor wait staff. I figured that these complaints were pretty typical of a brand new restaurant (and let's face it, even though this is their 2nd location, opening up that far from your 1st place is pretty much like starting over) and decided to wait it out a few months. Well... either those complaints aren't justifiable or Hell's Kitchen Duluth has worked out the kinks and are running strong! We went for dinner because we were excited to try the new stuff on the menu and figured we could get breakfast any day in Minneapolis. The dinner was amazing, the service was great and the restaurant was packed even at 9pm! My surprise favorite was the pretzel appetizer! I've been having cravings for good pretzels since visiting Germany earlier this year and I was happy with the Hell's Kitchen version and the tasty homemade mustard served with it.

Even though we were stuffed, we were tempted to try dessert, but then our waiter surprised us with a big gooey caramel roll! He explained that they had a few left over from the day and that rather than throw them out, he thought we might enjoy one for dessert(he was right!).

Hell's Kitchen Duluth is definitely a bright spot for dining among all those boring chain restaurants. Worth the trip!

Pros: Amazing food, good service and awesome bathrooms (trust me!).

Cons: We honestly didn't have any on our trip...

We had a potentially disastrous experience w/ the restaurant. Our reservation was lost, plus the hostess was less than happy to deal with our situation. Due to this problem (and from being out of towners), we couldn't wait the 45 minutes to eat, but the food smelled GREAT and looked better!

The real reason behind this post is, when I emailed our experience to the owner, he really showed how much he cared about the service in his establishment, with an incredible apology. We could really feel his empathy. This is so rare nowadays to find someone in management who truly cares, and Hell's Kitchen has this kind of ownership/management. Bottom line, you MUST try this place. If the taste even comes close to the smells we were teased with, you are in for a definate treat!
