I have been working with the Crown Vision Center team at Creve Coeur to try to find out the right contact lenses for my eyes. It has been a long process with many visits on my part. I REALLY appreciate the patience, courtesy and thoroughness demonstrated by the staff and the district manager. The district manager overheard the employee working with me to figure out my convoluted billing and insurance situation. She offered some helpful suggestions that simplified the process and helped decrease my bill. The process still isn't over for me, and I foresee at least another one or two visits, but I'm nearing the end of a long process that could have been much more stressful, were it not for the professionalism demonstrated by this group.

I have been a customer of Crown Vision Center for 12 years and each year the staff is professional and courteous and I am always happy with the glasses that I purchase! I would definitely recommend Crown!

I want to write a review about Florissant Crown Vision clinic.
I have no idea what's up with this place and what kind of person would run and manage it. I would not recommend it to anyone. Here are my problems.

1) Last year 2009 I did an eye exam and also ordered contact lenses from this place. I am an immigrant and never had an eye exam in the USA before.

After my exam I waited for my contacts for 4 months!!!

My husband called them and complained all the time but they didn't care. He called to Florissant Crown Vision and to the main office also. He wrote letter of complaint to the main office.

They never even answer back to him. Nobody.

And they also didn't give me my prescription during this 4 months!!! The even tried to charge me two times retail price for contacts until I called them on this and demanded a refund.

2) All right... I came yesterday 2010 to the Florissant Crown Vision to renew my prescription.

The lady asked for my insurance card. She is tall, blond and has eye glasses.
I gave her my insurance card. She scanned it while I sat there on the chair. Her scanner didn't work the first time. Then she approached to me and asked again for my insurance card. Well... I gave her my card again. She scanned it again.
After I did my exam, this person asked me to pay money for my eye exam which I found to be strange since my insurance covers 100% eye exams. She said I must pay 44 dollars because my insurance is VSP and it works only in other clinics in Florissant. It doesn't work for them.
I have no idea why this person didn't say it while she scanned my card so hard.
She also was very happy when she asked me to pay. I guess she was very satisfied with what she did.

3) I've got my new contacts lenses prescription from them. And it says in my prescription that my AXIS are 170 for right eye and 010 for left eye.
Well... In my prescription from last year from Florissant Crown Vision clinic it says that my AXIS 010 for right eye and 170 for left eye. Opposite!
I came to manager in this Florissant Crown Vision clinic yesterday and ask her what is going on. I found out that my prescription from 2009 from this place was wrong!!!
Manager from Florissant Crown Vision clinic said that they not going to refund me and it's not their fault. She said it's all my fault. She was very sure about that also.

I came back home and wrote to their web site about all this situation. They have some kind of survey on their web site.

And so what... Nobody answered me!!!

I've been working with the Crown Vision Center on St. Charles Rock Road since June 20th. After the first exam, I received a pair of bifocals that was missing a prism to correct a double vision problem. They were remade by the lab. The second pair did not have the bifocal centered correctly. Back to the lab for third try. The 3rd pair has a problem with the center of the bifocal, which allows vision in the middle distances. I asked for a full refund, but was informed that I would only be refunded the cost of the glasses, not the exam. So I'm back this afternoon to get another exam and a check of my glasses to determine how they are out of kilter again. The staff is not vigilant enough to check the prescriptions after they come back from the lab to assure they were done correctly. I don't know whether the problem is with the lab or poor training of the staff at the office. But I do feel ripped off by the refund policy should I go that route given that the office exam was all in naught if the glasses can't be made correctly after 3 tries.

For years I have had the same medical insurance and have gone to the same eye doctor. I recently moved to St. Louis from Michigan and changed eye doctors. At the Crown Vision Center off lindell I charged for "medical examinations" that aren't considered part of my vision insurance plan and they did not bill my insurance company at all.

I called my insurance company to see what was up and they didn't even have record of the claim because the Crown Vision Center off lindell had never sent it to them. When I called Crown Vision they claimed they had billed all the correct parties and I was simply suppose to pay what was billed to me.

Keep in mind for a years supply of contacts and a regular eye exam I was billed $20.96 in Michigan, here for the same thing I was billed $286.9 now that all of a sudden I needed a "medical examination" not to mention they didn't even bill my insurance company.

Please do not make the same mistake I did by going to the Crown Vision Center, please go elsewhere!!

I purchased two pair of glasses last Friday, April 9. Actually that is when I picked them up. I did not get a phone call that they were in, I called myself. Although it had only been 10 days. I tried on my glasses at the store on Watson Road, I told the girl that it seemed odd in one eye with one of the pairs, she said they were fine, I thought maybe I was nuts. Today is the first day I wore them. I had 4 separate people verify what I know to be true. The right eye on the second pair of glasses do not have the bi-focal. That's why it was not clear in the office when I picked them up. How did this happen. Every time I call to make an appt there is no answer.

My daughter broke her glasses at school so I went into the Crown Vision Center in Creve Coeur. I did not buy the glasses there but they were so helpful. They tried fixing them but they were beyond repair. So, I picked her out a new pair, the store called our doctor to get the prescription and I had the glasses THE NEXT DAY! The store called the lab to get them quickly and they did! Thank you so much for the great service. I am a patient for life:)

I would just like to let you know what great service I had with Dr. Woodyard. Dr. Woodyard examined my eyes for trial contacts. He was very thorough with the exam and knew exactly what kind of contacts would be comfortable for my eyes. Dr. Woodyard and his assistant Kim were the best! I recommend him to anyone that needs an eye doctor. I got my new contacts four days later!

I came to Crown Vision Center for the first time because of my insurance. I went to the location on Olive and was helped by Ryan. He provided me with wonderful service. Not only did the staff really push me to buy the most expensive frames in the place (which I resisted doing), they were surly about grinding my lenses to fit the frames I brought in, and then, mysteriously, those frames broke during the process, forcing me to buy another set of frames from them.

They also fed me a line of baloney about not being able to dye another set of lenses in order to make prescription sunglasses, which another optometrist was able to do with no problems whatsoever.

Nor did they offer me any options about the type of lenses, so I ended up buying the most expensive kind, without knowing what my options were.

So ended my first and last experience with them.

After going for an eye exam with a competent doctor and gracious staff, I was more than happy to order my contact lenses from them. However, it takes longer to get contact lenses from this store than any other store I've been to in St. Louis. If you would like to order contact lenses from them, be prepared to wait a couple of months between payment and actually recieving your lenses.

I would have given this store a world clas rating except I was not happy with the lab that makes the lenses for the glasses. I was working with one of the managers and she did everything she could to make the color of the lenses the way I wanted them. She is very nice but the lab was too involved in seven efforts to make the color wrong even when they were talked with on the phone and when they were sent sample lenses with the correct color. I would go back to this crown optical but not for a custom tinting of lenses.

PROS: nice sales people
CONS: the lab thinks they know what some customers want
