I love Schilby's. Because my family and I have been loyal customers for ions, I know they value my business. They may be a bit over priced, but I know they are taking good care of me and my 2 daughters. My husband is out of town 5 to 6 days a week, so I count on Tim and Marvin to be honest and take care of my car problems so I don't have to worry my husband while he is away. Yes, sometimes things aren't fixed right the first time, but hey, some things take time. Not always their fault and when they make a mistake they admit it and fix it. I know in the end, things will turn out great! Thanks, Marvin and Tim.

Schilby's failed to notice my warped rotors

I went in to have my brake system inspected and repaired. The rotors where obviously warped or in dire need of turning or replacement. They just slapped new brake pads on and said I was good to go. They never mentioned anything to me about my rotors. I am not supposed to be the expert--they are. My family and I have almost wrecked twice and every time I attempt to slow down my vehicle over 40 mph the vehicle shakes violently and it keeps getting worse. I drive an all steel suv, and since my trip to Shilby's I have noticed two disheartening stress cracks in SOLID STEEL. I am going to get my vehicle fixed today, and called them for an opportunity to make it right. They back-peddled and made excuses, and then offered to turn my rotors at no discount. I will tell everyone to STAY AWAY from SHILL-by's

They have to be the worse place EVER!

We took our car for a new tire that we had a blow out on. After 3 1/2 hours they were finished. My fianc had to go to St. Louis to pick me up at the airport and when we got back to the car, we noticed that the tire was flat. We filled it up with air and figured that since we already had an appt. to get the alignment done, we would deal with of then. In the morning I took it for the appt. only to wait 2 hours and them tell that they could not get the alignment right. After about another hour, they told me that they had put the wrong size tire on it the day before. After they put the right size tire on it, they told me it would be about another hour. I waited again and then after 2 more hours they told me I was ready to go. It never drove right again after that and to boot, they cracked my rim by putting the wrong size tire the day before. After a call to the BBB, they lied and said that they had tried to resolve the issue but I had refused. I wouldn't recomend them to my worst enemy!

Took my 1994 Ford Tempo in for an alignment for 39.99 that they advertise. Got my car back and the steering wheel is all lop sided worse than before. Gave me the story that my sway bar was screwed up, but took to my good mechanic, who is one of the best in town and he told me there is nothing wrong with my sway bar, it looks just fine. Told me to take it elsewhere. Called Schilby's back regarding this and told me that my mechanic is wrong, lol! Needless to say I will not be taking my car there for an alignment again, will be taking back home to have done!

Don't waste your time or $$$ at this shop!!

After having a new brake controller put in my truck I've had nothing but trouble with it. I took it back and they worked on it still doesn't work! Also worked on the trailer lights but put the wrong plug on it, Don't waste your time and money coming here!@#!#!@ SOMEHOW THREE STARS WERE PUT UP...NOT EVEN WORTH ONE STAR...

Unbelievably Horrible Service!

If I could, I would not even give this business a star! I took my car in to reattach a side mirror early Monday afternoon. They said that it would be about an hour and a half.
They called back later to say that it would be about another hour and a half but that he would call when it was finished. Later, I called to see if my car was finished, and no one answered.
After work, I drove by Schilby's to find out what was going on with my car. The place was closed and my car sat in the parking lot unlocked!
I later called the owner to question him why no one had called or answered and just why my car was unlocked on the corner of Business Loop and College at night! The owner proceeded to tell me that it was my fault that the car had an expensive stereo inside and that he has never had a theft in over 20 years! I'm from a very small town -- you lock your doors today - especially if it's not your car! He then went on to lecture me that I should have a second car! I was speechless!
The owner was patronizing and never once apologized for his and his business' poor service! Save yourself some grief, shop elsewhere!

False advertisement

I needed 4 tires and agreed on sumitomo's at Schillby's. Just after leaving I stopped to check the air pressures and noticed my tires were Capital Negotiators. This company buys their rubber from Sumi Rubber company and manufactures their style of tire for American Car Care Centers and others. Needless to say I got the knock off brand and feel like I got ripped off. Now all I want are my old tires and my money back. I do not recommend them to anyone.

Worst Customer Service Ever

I had 4 almost brand new tires that needed to be put on my Ford Escort, plus the car needed an inspection. I made the mistake of taking my vehicle to Shilbys only because they were the only people that said they could get me in right away. I dropped my vehicle off at 8:30am and they said it would be done by 11 at the latest. I call back at 11 and they tell me it won't be done until 11:30, but for sure by noon. At noon, I arrive at Schilby's only for them to tell me that the tires are done, but they haven't done the inspection yet and it will take another hour. Since when does an inspection take an hour?
Two days later, my fiance, who is a former mechanic and has a degree for automotive, is driving my car and the wheel pops partially off the rim. We take the tire to the closest shop and they say that because the tire popped off the rim, the valve stem is ruined. Thus, the tire is ruined. I called Schilbys to report that someone there isn't doing their job correctly and I believe they need to do something to compensate me for the tire. The manager says that the only way that the tire came off the rim was if the tire was flat. He said since the valve stem was broken that only could have happened if my fiance was driving for a long period of time on a flat. I informed him that the tire wasn't flat when we took it off the car. It simply popped off the rim because someone couldn't do their job. Even the mechanic at the shop we took it to said so. My fiance has a degree in automotive and he knows what he's doing. He would know when his tire was flat and he would know better than to keep driving it. The manager proceeded to scream at me over the phone and say that it was my problem and they didn't do anything wrong. He also blamed my fiance for ruining the tire and said there was nothing he could do.
I will NEVER take any vehicle of mine to Shilby's again and I will NEVER recommend them to anyone. I have a lot of experience in retail and customer service, and employees in the office at Schilbys treat their customers in ways that was trained never to treat people. From now on, I will take my vehicles to places where the employees actually care about the customers and will at least attempt to do something in order to fix a mistake.

Schilbys Tires keeps trying till they get it right

Schilbys Tires is close to my house, so I brought my car there. They do more than just tires. The air conditioner on my Saturn was not working. They treated me like a dumb girl and I did not appreciate this at all. They said I needed freon, which they put in. after one day, there was hot air blowing from the vents. I took it back. They said they needed to run tests. I had to walk home. Two days later, they said I needed a new part which would take another two days. Five days later and over $750, I had a nice cold car. It was already September. The following spring, there was no cool air. I hesitated to bring it back to them, but I didnt want to pay anymore money to get it fixed. They found a leak in the hose and fixed. I traded in the car that summer.
There service men are rude, especially the ones in the office who deal with the customers, and they are over priced.
PROS: It's close to my house
CONS: Rude sales people, over priced

We love Shilby's. After having a bad experience at another automotive repair shop in Columbia, we decided to try Shilby's years ago. We haven't the need for another auto repair place now. We now have 2 teenager's driving and 4 cars so we could end up spending money on the cars, but we don't because Shilby's does such a good job maitaining our cars for us! They are professional and friendly and not interested in screwing the customer, like some auto repair shops are. Most HONEST auto repair shop ever!

Best Customer Service - Most Trustworthy - Great Company

I have used Schilby's for years. I have tried quite a few other places in town, and none of them reach the quality of service and honesty of the staff at Schilby's. Any work they have done is reliable and guaranteed. They are friendly and helpful. Even when working with my teenage drivers, they are honest and really try to get the best deal for them. THANK YOU SCHILBYS.
