I was staying at the Sheraton in Westport Plaza and stopped in this place Sunday night for a few rolls. I'm a bit leary of what I call ""Club Sushi"" style places..but I had no car to leave the plaza so if I wanted sushi, this was my option. I ordered the Fried Philly and Eskimo Roll (which had jalapenos on it, not really seeing the connection to an eskimo) and a California roll which seasoned sushi eaters as myself would scoff at but sometimes I order it to sort of judge them on how well they make the signature sushi 101 roll. HOLY YUM..all three were amazing. Being that I was a bit buzzed up from the night I went back the next day (reminder no car, limited options at Westport) and wasn't sure if my rejoicing pallet was simply due to my beer and sake buzz...so I went in around 6pm Monday night and surprise it was HAPPY HOUR so 1/2 off a few items. I ordered a couple from the HH Menu. Spicy salmon and I think a Caterpillar roll. Again...WONDERFUL. This definately isn't authentic Japanese and probably no Japanese people even work there but they really know how to work with the flavors and everything seemed really fresh. I didn't experience any ""loud"" music but maybe thats Friday and Saturday night. Would definately recommend...great clean place and good atmosphere. I sat at the bar and both bartenders were great. Will miss this place from my little visit to St Louis..Five stars.

I thought the food was very good, but it was on the expensive side. The service was okay. What I really didn't like was the ambiance. We were first seated at a table that was dirty. We were then moved to a better table, but as we were waiting we couldn't help but notice the music was soo loud that we literally were shouting at eachother from across the table (and I love my music very loud, but this was obnoxious). We didn't complain because we thought that it was supposed to be that way since the restaurant is was sooo trendy and contemporary. My boyfriend and I couldn't wait to get out of there. I prefer more quiet, hole in the wall restaurants, for better food and ambiance.

this place has great suhsi and most of the times I went there the service was good, but last time I went with 5 friends and they had a hard time seating our "large group" waited and hour for a table. I will still go there just not bringing as many people with me.

great music though!

I've been to Drunken Fish a few times in Westport. The sushi has always been pretty good, but expensive. The service is what I find frustrating. They hurry you through the meal - there is no sitting there to relax and chat without the servers pushing you along.

Also, their hot tea is $3.00. They bring you a TINY tea pot, and you practically have to beg to get more. I finally gave up and drank water after asking 2-3 times for more tea.

I doubt that I will go back.

Great food, great prices, great happy hour.... not so much great service. I have seen people who are supposed to be working hanging out and talking more than any other restaurant. What's worse, it one girl at Drunken Fish Landing actually SITS WITH HER TABLES!!! I understand if you know someone, stop and say hello, but don't sit down when people are on a date trying to get to know each other. And don't push me to order a drink. I ordered what I wanted. I didn't want the sweet drink the waitress, Melissa, tried to push on me. And how strange it was how she stood at our table minutes after a normal person would've left. Self-service would've been preferred at this point!

My husband and I were more than excited when we had a babysitter for a friday night! We decided that we would head to Drunken Fish at Westport to have some sushi and cocktails. After waiting for about an hour to get seated, we were lucky enough to get to wait another ten minutes, just to get our water glasses filled! And then yet, another ten minutes just to get our cocktails! We wanted to give the server the benefit of the doubt, figuring he were probably just busy. Too bad the servers attitude was just as bad as the time we had to wait. He was rude and he kept rushing us. We ordered the Drunken Fish Roll, and the Kamikazee Roll, and both really, were quite similiar. Tasting pretty bland really. After we got about half way through our meal, I glanced over to see a HUGE nasty something or other, with long legs, crawling on the wall next to me. NOT APPETIZING. Could not even believe it. The manager, Jason i think it was, was also just as rude and arrogant as our server. He acted as if this were no big deal. It was disgusting, disturbing, and tasteless. Our experience was absolutely ruined, and i will never be back again, nor would i EVER suggest anyone else to go as well. Absolutely, completely, over-rated. AND disgusting on top of it.

Pros: the lights are low

Cons: so you cant see whats crawling on the walls.

If you work for Drunken Fish, could you please pass the word, that ""DAILY"" means ""INCLUDING SUNDAY""? I don't think your Webmaster gets it. Your decor, your ambience, your food-- Your place is awesome and reasonably priced, which is why my husband and I were bitterly disappointed when we drove 62 miles ON A SUNDAY to enjoy your sushi, since your stupid Web site assured us you were ""Open DAILY for lunch and dinner.""\r
\r
Will try again at a later date, but this was pretty outrageous.

So the food was amazing, no doubt abou it, but if you go do not expect your server to come to your table for at least 15 minutes after you sit down. And the hostesses stand there and not only talk abut every customer as soon as they walk away, they will do it right to your face. I have never seen people as rude as that directly in front of the customers.

My boyfriend and I found the Drunken Fish on accident. We went in to have a drink it was around 11:30pm but were sat at the Sushi bar because it was pretty packed. The drunken fish has an awesome vibe and if you arent a fan of the sushi bar, call ahead for reservations. The service was a little slow but like I said it was busy and the sushi was well worth the wait! The sushi was fresh and delicious and priced fairly reasonably. I will definitly be going back every time im in the area!!!!!!!

I went on a Friday night at 10pm. Seated promptly although the waitress was reluctant to give me a table (she wanted me at the sushi bar) because I was dining alone. Since there were so many open tables, I insisted, and she relented. Service was prompt, as was the food. The rolls were average, and fell apart somewhat when I was trying to eat. The fish wasn't the freshest I've ever had, but was certainly not bad. I ordered their house specialty drink. A little oversweet for my tastes, but fun. \r
\r
The only thing I didn't enjoy was the lady smoking cigarettes at the bar 5 feet from where I was eating. I'm not averse to smoking in general, just not when I'm trying to enjoy the tastes of my food. (Guess I'm used to California, where smoking in restaurants is banned). \r
\r
Overall a good experience, but I would pick another place to eat sushi in St. Louis before I went back here.

I have dined at this restaraunt many times for both business and personal occasions. The prices far exceed the value and quality of the product. The service is mediocre at best. My last meal there was lunch with my wife and son on 7/10/08 - cost b/4 tip: $102.84...a little pricey for raw fish and rice...Definitely not worth it. I will be searching for other venues in the future.

I don't eat seafood, but I went here because my friends chose to. I ordered the steak teriyaki and was very unimpressed. It was a fatty pan fried steak with some teriyaki sauce poured on it and a side of white rice. I think for the price, $17, this wasn't worth it.

I've heard that the drunken fish was a higher end sushi restaraunt, but the only thing that's up are the prices which might be justified if the food wasn't bad, the hostess was actually where she should be and would actually pay attention to you once she did show up. I ordered sashimi and was immediatly disappointed i'm used to getting nice slices of fish what they served here were just chunks of fish, that looked and tasted like they were bordering on going bad. Luckily i know that sushi really can be good, but if this were the first sushi i had ever eaten i probably would have never wanted to try it again.

The sushi at drunken fish is great, too bad you get better service at a fast food establishment. The entire staff from the manager on duty to hostess, to the waiters act like a bunch of spoiled high-school brats who were rejected from McDondalds. They much rather stand around and watch the television sets, or chat with one another than serve their customers. Our waiter named Chris basically was MIA for our entire meal. The manager who we told about the lack of service, blew off any complaint. I guess it is too much to ask for basic service from a place run by the inmates.\r

My girlfriend and I went to the Drunken Fish on a Friday night after having it recomended it to us by a number of people. They were right in saying it was a trendy atmosphere--something we're big on--but they didn't really give us a price range for drinks. Drink prices generally are of no consequence to me, as long as I'm not paying $12 for a cran-vodka that the lady doesn't even like, I'm happy. But at the same time, when after 2 hours of drinking on a Friday night the tab for the two of us is $124, something isn't right. The bartenders were WASTED which always leads to no good. I don't mind a bartender having a drink or two and socializing, but when they're lining up shots and clearly putting the wrong drinks on the wrong tab (I can hold my own, but between the two of us they charged us for 16 drinks in two hours, all of which were hard liquor)... I really did think it was a neat place, but if I was a struggling college student trying to take a girl out to a nice place, I would've blown a gasket. As it is, we had a good time, just not too impressed by the behavior of the bartenders. NOTE TO GUYS: If you're bringing your girl along with you on a Friday night, be prepared for the wasted bartenders to try relentlessly to pick-up on your girl, then be ready for a big tab.

I don't know why, but I somehow associated in my head the idea of a sushi outing with a good atmosphere type place and that's what I expected when we went out last night; little did I know that the CWE Drunken Fish is an over-crowded kitschy loud Applebees-like place blaaaaring Little John so loudly that you can barely talk to the people across the table, and no, we were not sitting at the bar. If I wanted bar atmosphere and sushi I would have gone to Rue 13, a much nicer combination of the two, and a place with decent and clean bathrooms -- hint: unlike the Drunken Fish, where the downstairs unisex bathroom that smelled something absolutely fierce, had missing parts of panel, much like the upstairs bathroom I had to run to in order to get away from the smell. This one didn't smell that bad but looked under construction, with holes in the wall patched with white spackle and an overall unappealing apparence. \r
You would think that for $$$ sushi place you'd get nice ambiance, pretty bathrooms, and a table that's not falling apart, and sushi that takes less than an hour to get. \r
\r
I must give credit where credit is deserved: food was good, really really good. But even with the excellent sushi, I would not recommend the place and will certainly not go back and stick to my usual Wasabi.

Being new to St. Louis for college and having been to some of the top sushi restaurants in the country (as well as numerous mediocre experiences with St. Louis restaurants), I was perhaps more skeptical than the average diner. However, I was extremely pleasantly surprised by Drunken Fish. The Agedashi Tofu to start is absolutely phenomenal (even if you don't like mushrooms) and the sushi rolls are amazing. Most of the rolls are awesome (especially the White Tiger roll), but I have to agree with the review; nothing tops the Drunken Fish roll. Quite an excellent find in a city of otherwise not-so-great sushi. I highly recommend it.

This review is for the Central West End location; sushi only. The sushi has been very good to excellent -- mostly excellent -- and consistant. They have a number of great rolls, but it's the nigiri that makes for a great place. The biggest caveats here are the price -- easily the highest in St. Louis (Look for a coupon in the Yellow Pages!) -- and the parking. Highly recommended.

The only time I went to the Drunken Fish, it took and hour and 45 min. for us to get our Sushi. We sat down at our table at 6:30...not in the middle of dinner time. The waitress was really helpful and nice. But it took waaaaay to long to get our food. I won't go back. Too many choices that are NOT at Westport Plaza.

Karaoke nights are fun to hear regulars show off their talented voices...however, if you're not a regular, be suprised if you can hear yourself at all. Seems the dj has the habit of hitting the volume knob for those newcomers who bring good voices. Jealousy? Drinks are a little higher than usual. Atmosphere makes up for this overcharge and it is Westport!!!??!! Nice selection of songs, Tuesday night a little slower than Thursday. Again watch for the volume if you're new in town!
