I have to agree with the other disappointed visitor's. This store is very cluttered and unorganized. There are allot of reproductions priced much too high. As a marketer, lowering prices for better turnover = higher profits. Most businesses expect to make their high profits off a "few" customers rather than Gaining a larger customer Base by offering great service and Prices. Word of mouth is KEY!! Overall, this is a nice place of business, just needs some business savvy. A website page would be very advantageous as well.

I read the other two reviews here....and I was surprised at the difference in them. I also was not impressed.

It is a large store, I agree with that. But there are definitely other antique stores of that size and caliber in the USA, and with better pricing. I thought the store was drafty, sprawling and not well laid out. As a decorator, I always shop with my clients in mind, and usually can run across something they 'can't live without'. However, I was so disappointed in this store that I will not return. If you don't want pine, or pine, or even pine furniture.....this is not the place for you. Evidently the buyer is unaware of other beautiful woods, or he/she just doesn't understand balance of inventory.

I was dismayed at the reproductions offered, also. Please,
Gatehouse - mark them as a repro! I felt that not doing this was deceptive on the store's behalf. I did find lots of armoires, chifferobes, etc., Very attractive.....but very expensive. I also found the store to be unorganized - no rhyme or reason to most of the displays. Agreed, there are some beautiful antiques there, but it is hard to remember what you found, and on what aisle because it is so jammed together. Not sure who their store designer is, but they are definitely in need of a professional here.

My turn-off here was what appeared to be some kind of drama in the office or counter area. A man inside the office was engaged in some kind of argument with a woman sitting in the same area. He was verging on shouting as I was shopping close to the counter, and he was visibly upset. I could hear him out into the store, which made me a little reluctant to go closer to the check-out counter. As I approached the counter, he stormed out right past me and through the back of the store. The sales clerk was clearly uncomfortable. Awkward...... and very unprofessional.

I was approached by a clerk when I first entered the store, but never saw her after that until I was by the check-out counter. I was strongly considering buying an antique storage bench, but ultimately did not purchase due to several reasons: higher than normal prices, little or no assistance from the staff, and the employee drama.

I definitely WILL NOT shop here again, even though some of the things offered were very nice. It was not a good experience for me overall, and I DID go during the week as one of the other reviews suggested.

This store is fantastic!! NOTHING like it in the USA that i have seen and the prices are far below what you would pay in a larger town.
Don't hesitate to bring a trailer when you come because you will wish you had! I am shocked by the other review in this site as yes there are reproductions but mostly the store is full of wonderful (and restored) antiques. The style is cottage and farmhouse antiques...and the wood is mostly pine. This is NOT your grandmothers frilly oak antique store!! This is high style and looks like most of the magazine interiors you see now. The accessories are perfectly displayed and well bought and there is friendly staff to welcome you always. I was there on a weekend and it was jammed so maybe come through the week if you can.
I talked to the owner and he personally selects EVERY piece in the store from throughout Europe and has them restored there. The pieces i looked at were lovingly refinished and restored and I wouldn't hesitate putting anything right in my home!. LOVE THIS STORE!!

It's a big, big store - be sure and plan for enough time to see it all. Antiques were nice, but overpriced, especially the large furniture pieces. According to the staff, it all comes from Europe.

There are accessory and decorative market pieces in the store that are new, and not antique. Lamps, wall art, small pieces, statuary, iron gates, etc. They aren't marked as new, so be sure and ask, because they look old, but aren't.

Furniture is mostly pine; painted, raw, waxed, stained. If you're looking for quality woods, you won't find them here. There are reproductions throughout - again, always ask! Even some of the antiques seem to have been refurbished in some way, and aren't completely original.

Overall, it was interesting to go through the store, but I would look elsewhere for the same quality of merchandise at a better price.
