Was unable to use the $100 gift card we had. What a scam that these places can sell gift cards and then not honor them!! Website indicates they have a 20 year tradition in St. Louis but not a word about being sold and new owners don't honor existing gift cards.

Good thing when banks sell to new owners they don't have the option of not honoring the money you have on deposit with them. I hope the bad business karma trains runs the new owners down!

My boyfriend & I went to J.Buck's in Clayton for Valentines Day and were blown away. There were wall to wall people but the service did not fail. The food was amazing and I love the new fried oysters. There new menu rocks. I love the carrot cake.

Don't judge a book by its cover, or a steak by the owner's name. The popularity of these restaurants has to have more to do with the J Buck's name than the actual food. He was a real icon in Saint Louis and I do not mean to knock him at all.

The steaks here are obviously the standard grade of steak that comes in a vacuum pack from one of the large commercial suppliers. The steaks were gristley, tough and mis-cooked, one came over-cooked and the other was seriously under cooked.

There are local diners that serve up better quality steaks for a much lower price. Unless you are just looking for a Bud and a chunk of meat, save your money and go elsewhere.

I was so surprised about the quality of the service and the fantastic food. I thought this would be just another sports bar. Not so, I love the seating, so even in a hectic restaurant, you have some peace and quiet.

light on appetizers, more salads, sandwiches, pizza and protein like steak/fish. Portions, even for a St. Louis restaurant, are immense, with plates filled with food. The wine list is decent, and service is good.

J Bucks is one of my favorite places. When I worked in Clayton, we went there for lunch quite often. The lunch menu is reasonably priced, and the service is EXCELLENT. Anything with their house BBQ sauce is wonderful.

If you're a dessert maniac, try the chocolate cake with cheesecake layers - it's to die for!
