This was by far THE MOST AWEFUL shopping experience...period, not even just for wedding stuff. I decided to go with one of my bridesmaids to Maiden Voyage becasue they carry the line of bridesmaids dresses that all my girls had chosen. We wanted to stop in to just see if they had some of the styles we were considering and wanted to see the fabric samples of all the colors, this was especially important because i had 5 colors and 9 bridesmaids (i know, a little over the top), so i wanted to make sure all the colors would go with each other, understandably. also, i'm a designer, so this was one of the most important parts of the wedding that i was focusing on.

So, I go to the store with my friend and my niece who was about 6 months at the time (i was nanny-ing her at the time and had her with me when i wasn't in class). I didn't notice any signs that you are required to make an appointment or anytihng, so we walked in and got the most aditude i've seen since i was 15 from the person at the counter. Mind you, i was dressed very well that say as i had given a presentation in class that morning, so she had no reason to "jugde" me as poor, rude, or unclassy...not that should even matter. All i asked was if we could browse and she made very rude remarks to her co-worker after we started looking, mind you i was no less than 10 feet away from them when she was saying i looked like i was 16 and having a shotgun wedding. i wanted to let her know that i am 22, graduating college, and most of my other classmates are getting married too, so i find my situation EXTREMELY common, but i didn't, i remained polite.

she finally came up and asked how many bridesmaids i was having and she was appalled when i told her 9. now i may be wrong, but if i'm selling dresses and someone comes in and says they need to by 9 dresses each over $200, i'm pretty sure i would at leasdt pretend to be nice to them!
I tried to explain what i was doing with the colors, and after trying to talk me out of it so reluctantly found the samples of fabric 10 minutes later...we were the only customers in the store. After about 3 more rude comments each followed my a demeaning "honey" i picked up my niece, wished she would scream her lungs off, though she didn't, she was asleep the whole time, therefore behaving very well, and left the store.

Good news is NOT all bridal stores are like this, i ended up going to the Blushing Bride in Shiloh, IL and they were GREAT!

Maiden Voyage.. to the land of awkward: I had the impression that this bridal shop would be lovely and that the people would be kind and helpful, as they are at so many dress shops; instead I had an awkward experience the entire visit. When I arrived I told the receptionist I'd like to browse through the bridesmaid's dresses and the first thing I was abruptly asked was, "What is your price range." I responded that I didn't have a price limit and that brought no better service (not that it should, you should treat a customer well whether she has $50 or $5000). Since there appeared to be only one room of brides maid dresses, almost all in a similar price range, I thought asking my price range the minute I walked in was odd. I understand asking your price point with wedding dresses since they very so much, but with a bridesmaid dress? I wondered if perhaps, since I was dressed casually I was being summed up as to whether or not I was worth helping, which left a very bad first impression. During most of my time spent at the shop I was left alone to look which was perfectly fine with me, and not once, was I asked if I would like to try anything on. As I browsed I got to over hear the receptionist argue loudly and be very rude to someone which I thought was very unprofessional while there was a potential customer five feet away to hear it all. If you treat the people you work with that poorly, do you at some point treat your clients the same way? When I asked the normal questions, "are there fabric swatches to see colors, what about a rush service, how long would it take etc." I felt that getting a response was a chore for the person helping me. She did say they would be able to do a rush order and that the cost would depend on the designer. Fine, no problem, I have no problem with paying more to get the dresses here on time. But then she said, "Maybe you should try David's Bridal." What? Why when you have dresses I like, and I could have them rushed, would you suggest I go elsewhere? What an odd experience. As far as the shop itself, lots of the dresses looked tattered, disorganized, and were falling off the hangers. Boxes of bridal accessories that looked like they had been around since 1980 were piled here and there. All in all it was a weird experience. I will not be purchasing my dresses there, and I will not recommend it to any of my bridal clients in the future. Only a pair of gorgeous shoes that I admired might get me to go back in..which the receptionist so helpfully pointed out to me were ??bridal? shoes? Maybe, just maybe, it was her first day? Sadly I'm guessing not.

I had a wonderful experience buying my wedding dress from Maiden Voyage. Everyone I encountered was kind, friendly, and helpful. Even after buying my dress the service here continued to be fantastic, which unfortunately is not always the case... but they were always wonderful. They also did all my alterations to perfection which was wonderful and was a delight to work with.

Pros: Friendly service, great designer dresses

Cons: none that I could find

.

I initially chose Maiden Voyage because they carried the designers I liked. I was in a rush to buy a dress, so I went with the first dress that looked good on me.

I've paid the price ever since. My fiance and I are both active duty Air Force officers and we had to move our wedding date up due to upcoming deployments, hence the need to buy off the rack. Once I decided on a dress to purchase, the sales staff acted as if they were doing me a favor by selling me a sample from last season's collection - which they tried to pull of as a brand new design, and they charged me full price (about $400 more than every other place I later found on the internet). Since they charged me full price for a sample, I requested a military discount. They declined but offered free alterations. Alterations are usually expensive so I felt this was fair.

Until I had the alterations. Since the dress was a sample and had obviously been tried on by numerous other customers it needed pressing, etc. I specifically asked if the puckering/wrinkles would come out with pressing and was told the dress would look perfect once it was altered and pressed. They lied.

I've taken the dress to other bridal salons and all have confirmed what I suspected - the dress was stitched that way and there's no way to make the layers lay flat as they should. Maiden Voyage has a "no refunds, no returns policy" and would not take responsibility for selling me a defective dress.

The time I have to mess around with all of this is limited, so I decided to suck it up and make the best of the situation. Then yesterday, as I took the dress to another salon to have it pressed AGAIN (the "job" Maiden Voyage did was ludicrous but they are 1 hour from my house and I wanted to be rid of them as soon as possible), we discovered the veil they ordered and gave me was the wrong color. Now keep in mind, I specifically asked Maiden Voyage about the color when I picked everything up, and they assured me it was correct and it was the lighting in the store that had me concerned. Wrong. It's the wrong color. I ordered ivory and my $200+ veil is diamond white. I'm getting married in 3 days.

So off we go to Maiden Voyage today. This should be fun. Bottom line: I received forceful, bad customer service. The staff lied about the currency of the dress and the alterations. Everything was overpriced. The alterations were sub-par. They ordered and gave me they wrong color veil and then lied about it right there in the store. At one point, I was ready to sell this dress on E-Bay and start all over, but I still would have had to buy off the rack so I decided not to.

Don't patronize this store if you would like an enjoyable experience shopping for one of the most important things you'll ever buy.

Pros: They sell dresses

Cons: Customer service, quality of service, cost, incompetence

I have now had two bad experiences with Maiden Voyage. I first went there about three years ago when I was looking for dresses for my own wedding, and was turned off by their distance, wait time, and outrageously priced dresses. I eventually took my business to Davids Bridal where I found a lovely dress at a reasonable price and attentive staff. My second bad experience has been this season when I ordered a bridesmaid dress for another wedding. I was told to spend extra money to get a "tall" version of the dress, only to find that the dress was a full 8" too long (even with heels!). They led me and the bride to believe that pre-order measuring would obviate the need for alterations; today they tell me that alterations are almost always required. I whole-heartedly believe that they intentionally led us astray with the measurements with the hope that I would spend more money to have them alter the dress. They were quite rude when I confronted them with this and refused to cover alterations cost. This is a company with a complete lack of corporate integrity. I would not recommend this store to my worst enemy!

My sister ordered her wedding dress from here in June 2003 and it fit her beautifully. They made the fitting exactly as she wanted it and she looked gorgeous.

I ordered my wedding gown from here in October 2008. This was on my second trip to the store and had great customer service, thank you Cassie and Ann. I also decided to order my bridesmaid dresses from here and they made it very easy for all my out of town girls. I am equally looking forward to my fittings. This is a great shop to purchase your wedding and bridesmaids gowns.

Having seen two friends' daughters get beautiful gowns at this store, I was looking forward to a good experience for my late-in-life second wedding. I did find a very nice selection, more varied than most stores, and a helpful salesperson. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill from there. The owner?/manager? was rude and overtly unpleasant on every contact I had with her--to the point where I began to dread having to go. Despite paying cash for a substantial part of the purchase on the night of the order, I received letters threatening to keep the dress if I didn't pay within ten days (which was not in the agreement)--weeks after placing the order. After calls on my part, they "let" me come in to pay when the dress arrived; but not on my first call to this woman who became the last voice I wanted to hear when I called. When I went in to see the dress after it arrived, I didn't have time to arrange a fitting appointment because I'd been with my fiancee' in the ER all night--her primary concern was that she was paid that day and when would I be picking up the dress. From uncaring to outright nasty, her attitude was never good once the downpayment was made. If I were a "bridezilla", I would say I deserved this...but I am a quiet older professional female who would like to be treated as I treat my clients. I will discourage all friends who consider taking their family members to this Jekyll and Hyde establishment.

I went to Maiden Voyage last 11/07 with my friend who was shopping for a wedding veil. As soon as we walked in we went to the front desk and waited for the lady to get off the phone for 5 minutes which wasn't too bad, we didn't see any other helpers. but when my friend aked for a specific kind of veil the lady said "we don't have any." She said it in a rude manner. My friend then asked if she could see the veils to make sure...and the lady again said we don't have any, and then asked what was her price range. After she told her the lady then said we might have some in the back discount room. she led us outside to a seperate house and then opened a box and motioned for my friend to go through them. I was very suprised at the lack of customer service. the lady or woman, i should say, was an asian-american, don't know her name. but i'm now getting married and will not go to this store.

i shopped at maiden voyage last week end in spite of the fact that they were very busy. ( my consultant had to help me and 2 other brides because they were short handed that day,) she brought in exactly what i asked for, and tho i have a very small budget, under $500.00 she did everything to find what i wanted, and even suggested a bridesmaid gown to save me money.... at first i did'nt want to tell her my budget, but she explained that they have so many dresses and so many prices that she could help me better if i told her. i was embarresed because i don't have much money, but by the end of the appointment i had decided on a dress from this store, and felt so beautiful! don't always believe negative reviews, some girls really are bridezilla

i got my wedding dress and all my bridesmaids dresses at maiden voyage. two of my bridesmaids were very hard to fit, very big in the top, one was a size 18, but the staff and seamstress at the store made it all so easy, the dresses did need some changes after they came in due to my friend's unusual measurements, but the price was very reasonable and it looked great on my wedding day. i really don't believe some of these reviews, how did that girl say the store ordered the wrong size? when i ordered my dress, i had to sign a contract, everything was on my reciept and explained to me as to what size i ordered and what color i ordered also, thats ridiculous to say a store wrote over a tag with a pen.... no one there seemed like an idiot to me.... i send all my friends there the selection is wonderful and the staff friendly and helpful

After shopping many bridal shops we found the PERFECT DRESS at Maiden Voyage. Problem was I had read two poor reviews (on this site) and I was nervous to purchase our dress at this store. I had a frank
discussion with the owner, Anne, and she explained to me how long she had been in business and these two reviews were unfair and that she had not been able to tell her side of things, and that all the years she had been in business had produced masses of HAPPY brides. I told her that we would take her on her word and we purchased our beautiful dress. It is now three days after the wedding and we are still reeling from excitement and happiness of the event. Maiden Voyage delivered in a timely fashion a beautiful, flawless gown. The alterations made were free and were the expected length and side seam adjustments. The shop itself is elegant, the sales help was patient and friendly. The seamstress was a "stitch"! Forgive the pun, but she was! We left with our dress loving Ann and her staff and we hope that you will investigate the shop for yourself. Too many times sour grapes spoil things for others. Don't take an anonymous person's word for it. (mine included) Visit Maiden Voyage and make your own judgements.

DO NOT GO TO MAIDEN VOYAGE! The sales staff was incredibly RUDE! The employee helping me was more interested in putting dresses away than helping me find or try on any. She continually left the dressing room door open to the busy other rooms even though I would close it each time. The two staff members would whisper and giggle to each other- always comforting. The dresses are all kept in a separate room that you are not allowed in. PLUS, she continued to bring out dresses that were $1,000 above my budget! I felt sick to my stomach the entire time I was there. I did not feel like a bride or even a customer. I read the other review dated 8/9/2007 and I just thought I'd mention that the name of the commenter was the same name as the person who helped me- a coincidence?

our family has now purchased four wedding gowns (two daughters, tow daughters in law) fifteen combined brides maids gowns, mothers of the bride and groom from maiden voyage bridal, and i would refer them to any one any where they have a wide selection of beautiful things in all price ranges and the service was outstanding i don't know what we would have done without the wonderful help of the owners and staff. i''ve read the complaints of the other people on this space, and i can't imagine this was there experience at this store. but every one knows, you just can't please some people....... ever watch bridezilla on tv?

My sister got married last month. They ordered the wrong size and then tried to cover it up by claiming they didn't. They were suppose to order a size 12, but ordered a 10. It was hard watching my sister try on a dress knowing they had made a mistake and wouldn't admit to it. And...she had lost a couple pounds since the fitting...not gained! She then had to pay $300 in alterations for THEIR mistake of ordering the wrong size. They had to take the dress out and it left 2 tiny holes from where they took it out. To add to the drama...my Mom also got her dress there and needed to have it altered which we expected. However, the seamstress made the dress too tight and so she had to have it altered again. After the 2nd alteration, it was still too tight. In the end, my Mom paid $180 and it STILL didn't fit. She then took it to a local seamstress in which she said that there were a lot of mistakes in the alterations and it was way too tight. She charged my Mom $10 to fix the mistakes. My Mom called and spoke with lady who owns the shop about the situation and she would not admit to the mistakes. Terrible business and certainly a place that is trying to get the most for their money rather than work with their custumers.

A month before my wedding, I called Maiden Voyage several times concerning the anticipated delivery date of my bridal gown but they said they did not have a delivery date. Maiden Voyage had to rush my order to get my dress which arrived 2 weeks before my $50k wedding. The dress was supposed to be a size 10, but instead, was a size 12 bodice and someone had used an ink pen to write size 10 on the inside label which was upside-down. The skirt and train were misshapen and the bead work was loose. The seamstress smelled like cigarettes. The manager would not refund my $ and said this was a final sale. Two weeks before my $50k wedding, I had to buy a sample gown from a different store and order a new veil and shoes. There was no custmer service after I paid for my dress.

I got some of my accessories for my wedding here, and my friend did as well when she got married. This is a quaint store and you can feel a bit closed in when you are here as it is not very open and is stuffed full it seemed with dresses and other bridal accessories. However, the selection and quality are great here and the staff is friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend going here if you are planning a wedding or are in a wedding in the future.

Maiden Voyage Bridal located off of Manchester is filled with life and love as they assist the bride-to-be with their wedding attire for their most important day of their life. The staff is most helpful in showing the bride her dream dress and assisting her with all her other bridal needs. Offering reasonable prices for all their dresses and wedding attire, Maiden Voyage should be one of the top bridal shops throughout Saint Louis. This bridal shop is the place that my fiance bought her dress and the special attention to detail they placed on her experience there was incredible. She liked their selection of many styles and options to cater to her every need. The turn around time on getting the dress was a little long, but the service for her was exemplerary.

PROS: Great staff, good selection
CONS: Location, takes time to get dresses in

The setting of this store is sooo romantic. The lighting is very complimentary and they have plenty of full length mirrors. They do alterations there and the staff is super helpful with a nervous bride. They have a wide assortment of gowns as well as a wide assortment of prices. You will not find discount gowns here, you will find well made gowns here at reasonable prices.

PROS: Very well made goens are found here.
CONS: You will not find huge sales here.
