When the House of Wong was recently voted as the best Chinese food in St. Louis by Sauce magazine, my family and I were very excited to try this new place. Expecting amazing food, we order several things off the menu. For our appetizer, we ordered the pan-fried dumplings. They were very doughy and looked (and tasted) like they had come out of the frozen section at Walmart. We were disappointed with our appetizer but we were hoping for better with our main course. We had ordered the pan-fried noodles, chicken lo main, Mongolian beef, crispy beef, and vegetable fried rice. The pan-fried noodles were saturated in a sauce that looked like dirty dish water and they were not crispy at all. The chicken lo main was inedible and the chicken was not all white meat. In fact, in all of the meat dishes, the meat looked suspicious and at times, I wondered what in the world I could be eating. The Mongolian beef wasn't totally inedible, but again, the quality of the meat was terrible. The crispy beef was probably the best meat dish we tried, the sauce was good, but the meat was not fried properly and it was soggy. Finally, the vegetable fried rice was the best thing out of everything we ordered that we ate, the vegetables were very fresh and it was a very nice dish. Quite frankly, I am disturbed that this restaurant was voted the best in St. Louis, if you are looking for good Chinese, do not go to House of Wong, my advice is to either fly to San Francisco, or attempt to cook it in your own kitchen.

Pros: Very nice service

Cons: Disgusting food, bad atmosphere, very loud beeping noise

I have been in the service industry for 12 years and this is one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. Not only was the hostess short-tempered while taking our order (for pick-up), but when we got home, we realized that the order was incorrect. To add fuel to the fire, when I called back to see if we could go out of our way to pick up the missing peices of our order, I was met by not just indifference from the hostess but blatant rudeness and when I asked to speak to a manager I was promptly told that she was too busy to talk to me.

I have never encountered such poor customer service. I have seen the workings of a restaraunt inside and out and never has this been acceptable on either side. Not only will I never dine in this establishment again, but I will recommend to everyone I know to follow my lead.

There is no excuse for blatant rudeness to a guest.

Pros: edible food, but nothing better than cookie cutter delivery

Cons: Absolutely terrible customer service
