My entire family feels fortunate that we have such a well-respected children's hospital in our local area. We are originally from a small community where no such specialization is possible...so Children's was quite a shock the first time we visited. Staff here are all about the kids - they know how to deal with every age group and do so in such a nice manner. As a parent, it is amazing to see how comfortable they can make a child feel about a medical procedure. Definitely my most highly recommended hospital and/or medical care in the St. Louis area.

Children's Hospital is well-known for a reason...their doctors are top-notch, and the rest of the staff is amazing as well. Simply walking into Children's is impressive - it is all about the kids, not at all an intimidating 'normal' hospital setting. Trains circle the entrance and wagons are used constantly to help patients and families. Focus here is upon the kids....clowns are known to just 'appear' and toys abound. I am so happy that this hospital is closely accessible for my family, and I have the utmost confidence in their care.

I had to take my neice there when she got a bean stuck up her nose. I tried for hours before deciding to take her in. The doctors were nice & the nurses were great. They truely cared. We didn't recieve an outragous bill either. I would definately recommend this hospital for all of you children's needs.

PROS: Staff really cares.
CONS: none

Part of why we chose to take our daughter to the pediatrician we do is because they refer patients to Childrens Hospital with most any problem. Referrals to doctors here are taken seriously and handled quickly; we have never waited more than two weeks to have my daughter seen by any specialist. I am very comfortable with the care she receives here and also greatly appreciate the positive attitude that the staff has toward parents and other extended family members. They make us, as a family, feel okay whenever there is a medical problem.

Every doctor I've been sent to at Children's over the past four years have been completely unsatisfactory, unprofessional, and condescending. I had been having paralyzing migraines. After four years of tests, I went to a doctor completely free of affiliations with any hospital and within the first fifteen minutes of my first visit with her, she pinpointed the cause of my migraines. Food allergies.
I went to their E.R. for some sort of pain relief for my hip. I was just expecting an exam, a few tests, and to be sent home. Instead I was kept for four days and had multiple repeats of the same tests. The resident in charge of me didn't believe that I was having any pain and flat our refused to give me pain medication, after he had reassured my general practitioner he would.
The MRI staff was negligent. (The MRI was vibrating my hip so badly that I was near screaming. Between waves of the test, I *was* screaming at the technician to find out how much longer the test was. My mother, who was in the room, thankfully, had to stand in front of the window and wave her arms for the tech to pay attention to us.)
Because of my food allergies, I had a very limited diet and I had to be careful what I ate. The dietician paid a visit to my room and gave me the exact same menu that everyone else had, except that she had written my allergies on the top. (Which accomplished nothing. I ordered food that was against every aspect of my new diet to give my mother and the staff happily gave it to me.)
When I discharged myself, the nursing staff removed the IV and left. I couldn't walk, so my mother had to get a wheelchair for me. My mother and I sat at the door of my room for a good ten or fifteen minutes before we realized that no nurse was going to escort us out, so my mother had to leave me ALONE at the parking lot door for another ten minutes while Mom got the car and came to pick me up.
I will never go to or recommend Children's or any other Barnes-Jewish hospital again.

PROS: The food's not too bad, the nursing staff is decent
CONS: Read my review!

Every time my daughter has to bring one of her kids here I am amazed. The staff just couldn't get any friendlier. They really treat each child like the prince or princess they deserve to be treated as. They make it as comfortable for the parents and family as they can. The cafeteria has above average food and treats for the kids as well (a mini dairy queen inside). The decor and decorations throughout the hospital almost make it magical. Love this hospital! It is my daughters first choice for her kids.

There is nothing bad to be said about this facility - it is the BEST in the entire city, and always ranks in the top 10 in the country. It is the ONLY place I will take my kids. The waiting room caters to children, with gorgeous artwork and things to take your mind off the fact that you're in a hospital at all. The campus is gorgeous, beautifully landscaped and always clean. The staff is very nice to the children who come in and helpful in any way they can be.

I would highly recommend Children's Hospital to anyone who needs pediatric care. My two month old premie daughter had RSV in 2001, and they took excellent care of her.

This hospital is the greatest for little ones. Not only do they try to make it happy and upbeat, they are very accomodating. Even though you may have to park some distance away, they provide wagons to pull your children in. That way oyu don't have to lug strollers around. The hosiptal is so clean, and the staff is terrific. If my children ever need medical attention, I would not hesitate to go to Childrens hospital.

My son had surgery back in January at the St Louis Childrens Hospital, and we have since visited several times. The staff at the hospital go above and beyond to make your children comfortable. I am very impressed with the facilities and the staff.
