Dr. Kennington scoffed at my opinions and knowledge of the things that were happening in my own body! All he wants to do is get a kickback from whatever drug company he is writing his prescriptions for because every time I go, I leave with a huge bag full of samples, three prescriptions and a feeling of dissatisfaction. I was not listened to and was talked to like I was dumb.

I recently had an appointment for an annual check up. Dr. Weick, who was fabulous, no longer works there so I had to see the nurse practitioner which was fine. She requested I have blood work done to check cholesterol levels etc. I received a phone call from someone in the office a few days after the blood work was done telling my levels were high and I needed to come in and see Dr. Kennington, who I usually prefer not to see, as he only wants to give you pills and rush you out the door. Well I decided to call back to get the results of the blood work, before making an appointment and found out my cholesterol level was lower than it has ever been since 2004! So why would Dr. Kennington need me to come into the office to discuss my level, which was barely over 200! The guy just wants to get your money and make you buy pills you don't need. I won't be going back to that over ever!!!

Dr. Weick is among the best medical caretakers I've ever had -- I've moved out of state, but come back to St. Louis for annual exams and maintenance for a couple of long-term issues. She is approachable, thorough, clear, and emphasizes prevention. The office is clean; the staff is mixed, but largely helpful and pleasant; I'm able to get appointments with reasonable notice, and the office wait time is not too bad. One of the things the makes her stand out -- her determination to get to the heart of problems. She takes the time needed to collect information from her patients and other sources before making diagnoses, and her treatment recommendations are sound. I would recommend her wholeheartedly.

I have always questioned the medical care of Joseph Kennington however recently my daughter became seriously ill. After high fevers and several days of treating it like a virus I decided she should be seen so I took her to Dr. Kennington. He spent less than 5 minutes with her, after I had waited on hold for nearly 20 minutes to just have a live person to make the appointment. He did NOT examine her, he did NOT listen to her lungs; He did NOT look in her ears, he did NOT do a throat culture, he did NOT order any blood work or xrays; he only looked in her throat and wrote an Rx for zithromyacin. The following day my child was worse so I went straight to the ER; she had a 103.2 temp mid day. They did a full exam, throat culture, blood work and chest x-ray. My daughter had pneumonia. I told him that mononucleosis was going through the high school; if my child had mono her spleen could have been englarged, if she had fallen she could die of internal bleeding. If Dr. Kennington does NOT want to practice good medicine he should frankly stay home. HE IS DANGEROUS! I will no longer trust him with the care of anyone in my family.

Service has gone down hill tremendously. They are always 45 minutes behind with the appointments and the doctors will not spend any time with you. A long appointment lasts about 4 minutes.

I saw Dr. Smith a couple of times over a year's period before I switched to another doctor due to a change in my insurance plan. For the most part, this place is okay but I don't feel I got very good explaination to questions I asked. Maybe the doc felt that all the medical talk was too complicated to explain to someone outside the field. I don't know. The staff would sometimes look to be in a foul mood and really make the visit less enjoyable overall.

I was a patient of Dr. Kevin Smith's for over ten years, and the only reason I am no longer his patient is that I have moved out of state. I would recommend Dr. Smith to anyone. He takes the time to speak with each patient and understand their concerns. His staff is consistently helpful and courteous. I am not sure what happened to the previous reviewer, but I know that other patients of West County Family Practice that I have spoken to have had experiences similar to my own. In addition, they accept most insurance plans and are very accomodating with regard to last minute appointments.
PROS: Great location and staff.
CONS:
