My son, who is 2 is obsessed with trains and this is definitely the place he wanted to go. He climbed on them, played in them, and had the time of his life. It was Thomas the Tank Engine times 100!! Then, they have an exploration center that's out of this world, where the kids make crafts. I think he liked this as much as the trains!!!

Although the museum has a little bit of all types of transportation, I found it focuses mainly on cars and trains. There was not a lot to be seen here, maybe a couple hours at most. Many of the exhibits were in disrepair when I was there. Some of the employees were informative and some did not seem to know much about the exhibits. Overall I would only recommend this if there were not much else to do.
PROS: Good for a change of pace
CONS: Exhibits in disrepair, staff not always helpful

This awesome museum is more like a playground for train fans and their parents. Don't miss Santa's arrival on the North Pole Express every holiday with lots of treats for the kids.

Transporation themes can be very important to little boys in the pre-school and early school years. The museum of transportation seems to have forgotten that. They have car areas where little children are screamed at when they come near a yellow line and lots and lots of off-limits areas. The creation station is a great area, but its like a preschool room, not really great for real life, real environment experience.
PROS: variety of pieces
CONS: not REALLY kid friendly

This place is so neat! The kids and adults learn so much here. They have lots of trains that the kids can play on- some are really old ones that have been restored. Anyone who is in to trains or planes would really enjoy this place. This would be a great place to have a birthday party.

My son use to love going to this place when he was a little younger and obsessed with trains. They have all of these old trains that you can walk through and see. If you love trains, you will enjoy this place.

Choo Choo, all aboard for a great time seeing the trains of yesterday! The Museum of transportation is an exciting place to see train cars of an era go by, the cars are fully restored or in the original condition. One of the Vanderbilt's private cars is on display. The museum offers an array of fascinating things to see and do. The Museum is open daily and the admission charge is minimal.

This place is action packed for the whole family and guess what it is FREE! The kids will love it and so will the adults. Bring that camera since tons of history. They offer light food so be prepared to bring food or leave and come back a all day event.

Kids love this museum it has tons of train to climb on and go through. My husband loves it as much as my five year old. They also have a car museum, planes, and a military boat that have to be checked out. There is a party room and a small train that goes around for kids to ride on. A great time for the whole family.
