I visited Carol House Furniture yesterday 4-27-13 4:30 pm. Upon entering I saw a large off white china/curio type cabinet on sale for 1700 and change. I thought, I will continue to look but will probably buy this piece. Went in next set of doors and was greated by Jay and a brunette lady in a red dress. The lady in the red dress looked at me and my daughter and rolled her eyes. Jay was totally stuck on stupid. I told him what i was looking for and he said he had never heard of a china cabinet or a curio in white. I left the store without purchasing the piece I saw when first entering the store. Carol house needs to hire sales people who will listen and who are aware of what is in the store. Also, if you hire women make sure they have some confidence about themselves so they don't mistreat your customers due to their own inferiority. My visit was a total waste of my time and if I had been treated respectfully, I would have purchased that piece. Rude and unprofessional employees. Unless things change I would not recommend this place.

I purchased a couch, chair and 2 rugs from Carol House. When I went to my new home I found that one of the rugs would not fit. I called customer service (big mistake!) and explaiined to them what had happened. I was told there would be a 15% restocking fee since this was a special order. I called back in about 4 days to ask when I would receive the refund back in my checking account (used a debit card to pay) and was told there would be no refund and that I would have to pick out something else since this is a custom item. This was an 8x10 rug...nothing custom about it. I spoke to the manager and he said I would be refunded...the gal in customer service was clueless. Buyer Beware........make sure when you shop at this store you are absolutely sure everything is going to fit....do not make any mistakes!

I will NEVER shop at any of their stores again.

However, we found their customer service to be extremely rude, and they flat out refused to discuss a refund or exchange of any type. Now that they had our money, the store wanted nothing to do with us. They even went so far as to claim it was against Missouri law to take returns of mattresses. It??s odd that every other retailer in the St. Louis area that we checked has at least a 7 day return policy. I guess they must all be breaking the law. Prior to this experience we were loyal customers, but after being treated so poorly we will never return. Stay far away from Carol House.

My salesman was Tom, he said he had been with the company about 10 years, he noticed that I had brought a sample of the color of wood I was looking for and he took me straight to what I needed.. afterwards I walked around for a few minutes..but guess what...I enventually came back to the first Item that he had taken me too... He knows whats in the store and exactly where it is... He did not try to pressure me but i did buy the 6 chairs.... I am going back to get the buffet that he matched up for me .. I always buy our furniture at Carol House. I find the best selection there, the best prices, and they provide free delivery. I always look around at other stores and end up back at Carol House. I just bought some couches there this weekend, and I worked with a sales woman by the name of Marilyn. I would definitely recommend her. She is knowledgeable and not pushy.

We recently (2/12/2011) visited Carol House Furniture at their Page Ave. location in search of new living room furniture. I was pleasantly surprise at their prices and quality of furniture. Not only did I find a sectional that I was looking for, but the price was in my price range. We contacted Carol House in early February 2011 about whether we had a warranty on a Serta Perfect Sleeper Cashel king mattress and box springs we purchased in April, 2004. Customer Service informed us that we indeed did have a 100% 10 year replacement warranty and was very helpful in providing the paperwork to us that was necessary to put in a warranty claim. We completed the forms, sent them back, and were immediately informed that we did qualify for replacement box springs and mattress subject to verification by their employee who came to our home within a day or two. He verified our measurement and, after he reported back to the store, customer service called and asked us to come in and look at and test the replacement Serta offered. A salesman, Ernest Roberts helped us, and after I commented that this may not be a commission sale, informed us that it was his pleasure to help us in any way he could. The replacement was very acceptable and was delivered to us a week later at no additional cost. The new set was more expensive (Serta Perfect Day Taurus) than we had origionally purchased. What a pleasure to do business with companies who keeptheir word and provide such good service, even 7 years after the origional sale. We will definately return.

We walked up & down the aisles, searching for that one right sofa. Finally I settled on a Flexsteel Sleeper Sofa. I Purchased an adorable bedroom suit for my daughter. When they delivered it, the drawers wouldn't open properly and the mirror was broken. When I pulled the drawers out to try to correct the problem, there was dirt and debris under the drawers. I couldn't believe it! I also purchased a kitchen table at the same time and it had a broken tile on it and it had to be replaced as well. I had to go to the warehouse and inspect the new pieces. They were all the same. I will never make another purchase here again! Very disappointed! Their showroom looks amazing. This must be why they are still in business.

I bought a pair of LANE swivel recliners from CAROL HOUSE and within a few months the seat frame broke due to using poor laminated plywood as the base. I requested my money back at that time but they refused and had it repaired. Now the second chair is broke the same way. This time I requested to see BROOKE himself as I had my receipts and photos of the broken chairs. He was in but refused to see me and spun my off to some manager who said it looked like the chairs have been abused. I have no kids and do not weigh 300 pounds. I explained I want my money back as this is CHINA made junk and can't be fixed. She only offered to send out someone to look at it to see if it can be repaired and to determine if it was abuse or not. I have done business with these people for several years and it's all fine until you have a problem. I will NEVER buy anything from this store again. I will now see if I can do any good with LANE who made this junk to see what they have to say.

I never even tried Carol House before because I always assumed it was mostly traditional stuff, not the casual contempory and transitional things I like. I was very pleasantly surprised to find a more than adequate amount of choices that suited my taste. Their stuff is also more of a value than Pottery Barn, etc.

Carol House has great customer service. My dog chewed a huge hole in my 3 month old sofa, and they are going to fix it for me no charge. I just have to bring it to them to repair. Not a bad deal for damage they didn't do. They are awesome!!! How many furniture stores would go out of there way like this!!

I bought a sofa, chair, and ottoman from Carol House that were Flexsteel brand and are quite nice. However, after they were delivered and upon closer examination, I discovered that the feet to the chair and sofa were not bolted on all the way. It was a simple fix for me and a screwdriver, no big deal, but it told me that they obviously don't carefully inspect their furniture before they deliver it. Well, I should have learned from that, but no, I went back about four months later and bought a recliner and cocktail table. The furniture was delivered while my son's birthday party was going on, so I didn't have time to inspect it maybe as much as I should have. About an hour later we noticed that the table top was screwed on crooked (lines didn't line up between the base and the top). I called Sandra in so-called customer service and was told that they would not be able to bring out a new one until six days later due to their delivery schedule being booked well in advance. I told her that i didn't care about what was convenient for them, they had messed-up my order and correcting it should move to the top of their list. She said sorry, they have to take care of everyone else before they can fix their error. She also had the gall to suggest that I come to their warehouse and inspect the new table before they deliver it!! She didn't even understand that this is their job!! I thought that since I had spent thousands of dollars at their store, during a recession mind you, that I would get at least what I consider standard customer service, but I guess I was wrong. I believe in the Dubman family and all the great charities that they support, but I would need to be desperate for furniture to shop at their store again. Sorry Brook and Amy.

They have the best selection for all styles and it makes the saying "you get what you pay for", diffenately correct here. Every expierence has been great for me and my family, from the salespeople, the cashiers, delivery and customer service, overall it has been the most pleasant. They are always willing to help and always polite and very helpful. I've even seen Brook and Amy in the stores! I recently bought a fairly expensive sectional sofa from Carol House. The reason I chose it over the various other sofas is because the salesperson said it was the most durable type of fabric we could get. Either the salesperson didn't have any idea what she was talking about or she just made up what she needed to so we would buy the sofa, and the more I try to deal with them, the more certain I am that she just made information up. Less that a week after the sofa was delivered, it was very obvious that it was probably the cheapest upholstery available. Just about anything even remotely sharp causes tears or holes. The fabric is almost paper thin. The "customer service" person said they were sorry that the salesperson told us things that weren't true, but that was just too bad. I described the damage, sent in several photos and told them I wanted a refund. I even told them to come and see it for themselves. The person I talked to refused to even listen to me, so I filed a complaint with the BBB. They LIED to the BBB and said that I never sent customer service any photos even though I can prove that I did. This company seems to operate almost entirely with lies. THIS IS A SHADY BUSINESS.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. They take great pride in the fact that they do NOT accept returns and have NEVER refunded money to a customer no matter what the problem. Never had a business lie to my face and insult me prior to this. Customer service does not return phone calls, then says you never called. Owner has to ability to change his mind mid-return and say no, he won't accept your return. I was told that rather than to take a 1 week old sofa back that had a rod in the seat cushion and hurt to sit on, they would rather make me angry than take it back. NEVER GO THERE.
