Doctor was wonderful and informative about my dogs eye issues. Very caring and took a lot of time with me and my pup! Was conservative with treatment and didn't jump to surgery to make a buck and I liked that. Showed me close up photos

When I arrived I was greeted by a friendly receptionist who brought my dog and I into the exam room. When Dr.Johnson came in the room, there was no hello, no nice to meet you, he sat at the computer and asked me questions. He kept calling my dog a he (he did this the entire time), she wears a ponytail with a bow. He then started telling me that ""this was a VERY serious problem"" and I started to cry, and then he proceeded to keep saying that. He told me that he could do surgery that day and I really shouldn't wait. I went on my gut instinct and waited to take her to a different place on Monday, and was I glad I did! Even though she still has to have a surgery, its minor compared to the eye graft he said she had to have, plus everyone at the new place was warm, professional, and most importantly you could tell that they genuinely cared about the pets and clients. Dr.Johnson was rude, insensitive, and if you love your pet, do not take them there!

First visit with Dr. Johnson today. Dr. Johnson was very informative, professional, kind, and understanding. And he explained everything in such a way that I could understand my dog's eye problem. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Johnson to anyone needing expert advice and care regarding their pet's eyes!

I had a very good experience with Dr.Benjamin. His staff was very friendly to both m y cat and to myself. The doctor was very kind to my cat and was very gentle with her. He was very good at explaining in detail, what my cat's eye ailment was and the course of treatment we would be taking. He was also very optimistic with the lesser of the treatment avenues working and since my vet was not in St.Louis, agreed to work with him so I did not have to make any extra trips to the city with my cat if they were not necessary. I felt he was a very thorough with his exam and with his explaination of the problem.\nI definitely rec. him for those with pets who have eye ailments. My Ripley got a great report on her follow up exam.

I have a blind dog with glaucoma. I moved to St. Louis and immediately went to animal eye associates to establish her as a patient. Dr. Johnson was very condescending and uncaring. I was shocked at some of the things he said and immediately called my previous Vet Opthalmology office. I was advised not to go back and was glad to hear I was not overreacting to his remarks. When my dog went blind in her remaining eye I drover her to Mizzou for her care. I am thankful I knew the reality of my dogs disease and was well educated about her care.

Cons: Dr. is not optimistic and has poor bedside manner

The office staff was supportive and very kind to my very sick dog. Dr. Johnson is very skilled and does not try to push you into anything expensive unless it is absolutely necessary (my bill was actually less that the estimate they gave me). I would recommend them to anyone who loves their pet!

Pros: Caring and highly skilled staff

Cons: They only treat eyes! I wish they also did general vet services

The doc is a wonderful, BUT, his office staff that answer the phone can be very rude and condescending. At times you are treated like you have no idea what you are calling about. The staff, tend to double schedule you for something that can be done in one day if scheduled correctly. In otherwords, a good experience.
